Just left San Carlos Tan. I don’t write much reviews but this was actually my first time there and I really recommend it after having a great experience. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by Mia the front desk blonde, pretty girl beautiful smile. She took the time to explain the the difference between bed 1, 2, 3. Then proceeded to sanitize the bed prior to me using it after deciding on which one to go with upon her recommendation.

This was my first time ever getting a fake tan. But since I’m getting married this summer and I have horrible tank top tan lines, and I happen to be wearing a strapless wedding dress, this is a must! As a trial run, before my friends wedding in Vegas, I decided to get the airbrush tan a whirl. I learned a lot.
If you are getting a tan, you can’t wear your bra up to 2 hours after the procedure. Wear something like a maxi dress to avoid tight clothing rubbing the solution off. I learned that their tanning solution has a purple base to it, which makes for a natural looking tan. Other places have an orange/​red base leaving you looking like Jersey Shore. Don’t take a shower afterwards for 12 – 24 hours. From then on moisturize your body, the tan makes your skin a little dry.
While I was in Vegas I got a lot of compliments saying that my tan looked legit. I wasn’t shy to share that it was fake.
If it’s your first time they have a deal for $ 25. Use it. The girl who sprayed me, Tye, was super sweet and funny. Hope I get her next time. Looking forward to my wedding day, I know they are going to have me looking great.

wonderful spray tan experience. excellent service and when I arrived for my appointment we started right on time. I love that when we were done with the spray tan she took the time to explain how to let the the tanning stuff set and had me stand in front of a fan while she removed the spray protectant from hands and feet. I felt comfortable the whole time and I very rarely stand semi nude in front of strangers :) what’s even cooler is this is a family business and what’s cuter than that?!

I recently started coming here and have had such a great experience every time I have gone. All of the girls are extremely knowledgable and friendly. I would absolutely recommend this salon!

I have been a San Carlos tan client for years now. It has since changed ownership. I loved the previous owners, but the new owner is super too! She’s fun, seems to be outgoing and so kind. Everytime I go to tan I’m welcomed. It’s always clean and they remodeled it and it’s modern. One thing I love about them is when you buy a package before yours expires they give a 10% discount. I’m not sure if they will do that everytime, but they just did today which I was super excited about.
Now to the tanning beds! I always buy packages for bed 3 so that I can switch between all the beds. It also helps if appointments are booked and I just want to tan, but didn’t have time to make an appointment. All of the beds are wonderful. My favorite is bed 3 because it’s a 12 minute bed. Bed 1 helps you keep the tan longer whereas the bed 3 gives instant color and bed 2 is an in between. I will definitely be a coustomer at San Carlos for many years to come.

My first experience at San Carlos Tan was amazing! I was given so much information on how to get the best tan. Customer service was the best I have experienced at a tanning salon! I loved their beds and their prices are unbeatable!

Great customer service. I love love love the new owners. Great atmosphere, good beds and I rarely have to wait for a bed. Appointments are always on time! I def recommend this place!

i absolutely LOVE the new San Carlos Tan! The new owner, Arielle, could not be sweeter or more helpful and the remodel is beautiful. The place is clean, relaxing and a great place to get an affordable tan. I have been coming here for months and I could not be more impressed with the improvements. Seriously great customer service.

First visit tonight and LOVED it! Super hot bed, wonderful customer service and incredibly clean! New ownership is fabulous. I will definitely be a repeat customer. :)

This place got a new owner and the difference is AMAZING. You walk into the salon and it is just beautiful.
Everything feels chic and luxurious, you can tell that they really thought through the interior design. Better yet, they didn’t even raise the prices to tan! I now actually want to come here more often because it feels so much more spa like with all the renovations, and the customer service is just fabolous. So sweet and helpful. I don’t know about you, but here is a little something about me. I love great experiences and getting pampered, but I’m pretty frugal when it comes down to it. I’m like Target’s perfect customer, I love great style and design, and am willing to pay the money for the things that make me feel like I’m living luxuriously, but I find it at a better price. So if you are like me, you can have your cake and eat it here, too. Ugh I just love it!

Love coming here! The girls are always really nice and the place is super cute. I can’t review the beds bc I only spray tan.

Terrible customer service. Normally a loyal samba glow customer where they have amazing service and in my opinion are the best airbushers in the peninsula, however I didn’t have time to get to Palo Alto. Anyway I walked in and a girl was doing her makeup and didn’t even acknowledge me. The girl who sprayed me didn’t even make eye contact with me…
Now for the facility… It’s dirty! Doesn’t look like anyone cleans the place. There is tan all over the walls and fans in the room.
The tan… Terrible. Honestly a mystic would be better! I left with the spray dripping down my legs and completely uneven!
To make it worse I left and no one said goodbye.
Never will I come back and I do not recommend what so ever!

So glad I switched over to tanning at San Carlos Tan. It is SO much more affordable than other places I have tanned. I never have a problem getting in when I want to tan and I go almost every day. I had a wonderful experience there today. The girls at the front desk, Shannon and Lauren, were so incredibly helpful in guiding me on picking out a lotion. I had no clue what to get and was feeling lost– and they were so kind and willing to answer a million questions about the different lotions they carry. They were very knowledgable in teaching me how different lotions work in different ways and helped me find what I was really looking for. I left there feeling very satisfied with my lotion purchase, my tan, and most of all– their incredible customer service!

San Carlos Tan is very hit or miss. Sometimes I feel great about this place, other times u wonder who owns this place and why aren’t they checking up on their salon.
I came in the first time having a great experience. The young lady at the desk was very personable and knowledgable about their products. Very laid back, casual personality, which I appreciate. I purchased a lotion and a package and was set up in a room right away.
Two things: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, and bring a personal fan or something.
They only have 3 beds. Level 1 – 3, so making an appointment is crucial if you’re pressed for time or don’t want to wait 20 minutes to an hour for a 10 minute session.
With only having three beds, they can get very hot. They are not Bert well ventilated and the «fans» do not work as well as they should. I leave SWEATY.
My experience with the lovely ladies is also a hit it miss. There are a few that are super nice, chill, casual, talkative. One that isn’t. Young, looks no older than maybe 18? Very dry, not sure if she’s in a chronic bad mood or just naturally smug looking but I haven’t had very pleasant experiences with her. Very pretty girl. Just needs to soften up a but.
Other than that, sweet little place. I’ll still go there!

K. So, I looked up San Carlos Tan, booked 3 tans for $ 25 (newbie special), and during my spring break I went tanning every other day.
The beds were super clean, the girls were friendly and nice, and I got a nice little tan.
Their prices are really great, so if you’re in the market for tanning beds, give San Carlos Tan a try!

I have to say I expect nothing but amazing customer service everywhere I go. I am one of those customers that would ask the most random questions & you better have an answer :) I read plenty reviews & this place met & exceeded my expectations! My first day I got the pleasure of meeting the lovely Sierra who suggested a Kimono Silk that I absolutely love! She also took time to describe the differences in the beds wattage, ect.
Second time I got to meet Becky and she provided me some tips with her personal experience and also an absolute sweetheart personality! She has even helped me to apply my tanning lotion to my upper back! (Sorry TMI maybe?) She seems to be super knowledgable with how frequent should your visits be, timing on a bed, and other help words of advice :)
Overall satisfied & highly recommend them.

Tanning is bad. Yes we all know it, but doesn’t it feel so good to be bad, sometimes?
I do the worst kind. I have yet to try their spray tan, I just go right for the beds. It’s so relaxing and therapeutic for me. I just go away to my tropical island space for 10 – 15 minutes and everything is better.
They offer the most competitive prices for lotions, packages and unlimited tanning in the Peninsula. They are like the Wal-​Mart of tanning salons! When she told me the price of the unlimited tanning, my jaw dropped and I felt like I had just won the lottery.
They’ve got everything you need here such as most other tanning spots around: towels, lotions, body spray, bottled water, body stickers etc… and they are at least half the price! Woo hoo. Love this place! It is an immaculate space with customer service that goes above and beyond.

I definitely recommend San Carlos Tan. Recently they helped me get all golden and glowy for the Miss California USA pageant and man did they do a great job! I’ve been to a number of tanning places in my life and here is why it gets my vote and business…
Staff– This is the biggest point for any salon type business I think… Their staff Lindsey and Becca are so knowledgeable and friendly. Lindsey will literally make you feel like you’ve been friends forever! They can answer any questions and help recommend how to best achieve your goals in tanning. The owner, Bill, is also super nice and knows his stuff!
Location– I live in SF, but since I work in Daly City this was just as quick for me to get to than any place in downtown SF. It is right off the highway and they have parking! I hate spending 15 minutes looking for parking when I’m only going to be inside for 10 minutes…
Ambiance– The salon is cute and cozy. I like the bright, tropical colors on the walls.
Bed Tanning– I’m not an expert on this since I don’t tan in beds a lot… But the beds are clean and I know they said they had just replaced the bulbs in them too. They provide a whole bunch of things to make your experience awesome. Baby wipes, body mist, towels, candy, stickers, iPod docking system, etc. Pretty cool!
Spray Tanning– This I have done a lot of and I can tell you… if you’re going to get nekked in front of someone it helps if they can instantly make you feel comfortable. Bingo! Lindsey was awesome, didn’t make me feel awkward at all and she did a quick and efficient job! I had to tan Wednesday since I was flying out Thursday but was worried the tan wouldn’t last until Sunday… Well it did, and to be honest I never saw it get patchy while fading.
Pricing– They have some good deals right now, but their regular prices are already extremely competitive. Much more affordable than any place in the city!
So all around impression? This place is awesome and the staff REALLY makes it! I recommend stopping in if you need a little break from this gloomy Bay Area weather!
