I went in yesterday for a pedicure and gel manicure… it wasn’t my favorite, but I probably wouldn’t have rated it only 1 stars. The 1 star is because they had a special for a regular mani and pedi for $ 30. I thought it made perfect sense that I would be charged $ 30+ the difference since I got a gel mani, but no I was charged $ 50. even then I might not be that annoyed, except that I’m not down to pay $ 50 when the manicure wasn’t even a manicure. It was just getting my nails trimmed, filed, and painted. Not a drop of lotion in sight. Maybe getting lotion applied during a manicure is something extra? Either way, I don’t think I’ll be back.

I got a gift certificate from this place a couple of months ago. I had never been so I was excited to try some place new.
I called ahead to make sure that they had time and they did, so I made my way over.
As I was getting ready to pay, I pulled my gift certificate out and the women in the store tells me that it’s not valid because KT sold the nail salon to someone else. Keep in mind when I Unilocaled the salon this afternoon, it had the same name, phone number and address that my gift certificate had. There was no reason for me to think my recently purchased gift card was not valid.
To not honor the gift certificate that had been purchased recently from an establishment that hasn’t changed its name/​phone number/​address is unacceptable. Horrible customer service.
They literally took $ 50 of my friends money (who purchased the gift card for me) and never provided any goods or services.

I found KT Nails while visiting a friend. Kelly and her team were worth the weekly commute and now that I live in the neighborhood it’s quite the treat. Professional, honest, talented staff in a perfectly quaint salon.

I love KT nails. They always do amazing nails and it’s an enjoyable experience. Kelly is the best and all the girls that work here are sweet. So many colors and they do great waxing and facials too!

I’ve been going to KT’s for about 3 years now and have never had a bad experience. I’ve gone to many other salons in the area over the years and I can honestly say it’s the best price but still the best mani/​pedi and best service I have experienced. They are all very friendly and accommodating. Everything is very clean as well.
I always get the same — pedicure and shellac manicure. For their shellac gel manicure they have a HUGE selection of colors — definitely the biggest I’ve seen at any salon. They also have many matching regular nail polish so I can perfectly match my gel manicure to my pedicure. I am always indecisive about colors and they have always been great at suggesting colors and helping me pick without making me feel rushed.
HIGHLY recommended over many other very overpriced salons in the area that don’t do nearly as good of a job as KT’s.

I wanted to grab a quick manicure on a Sunday afternoon and luckily, KT was able to fit me in. When I walked in, I noticed there was clutter everywhere. It’s a small space already but all the clutter makes you feel claustrophobic. I was directed to grab my color and sit down. I kind of guessed where to sit because there wasn’t much communication, just some pointing and grunting. A lady sat across from me to start my manicure shortly after I found my spot. There was no smile or words of welcome exchanged. No question as to how I liked my nails filed. I tried to give her the benefit and the doubt and chalk it up to a language barrier. However, when it was time to collect payment, her English was quite good so rule that one out. When she finished, she stood up and walked away. Again, no «thank you» or «do you like the color» or anything. I may as well have not existed. After she went to another station, I had to find the nail polish and clean up a few spots she had missed. I know she saw me do this but again, ignored my existence. I was torn about tipping her but felt obligated. However, between the bad customer service and the cluttered appearance of this salon, I will not be back.

My wife talked me into getting a mani/​pedi a few years ago. So while we were going to fancy spas in Napa and SF, I thought they were great. I now know why woman always get them and now I truly know the meaning of Gossip. Anyhow I checked out this place and was very pleased. The staff are all fun and sweet. Compared to some of the fancy spas I’ve been to I’d have to say this is just as good or even better, maybe it’s the service and how well the massage my feet… lol. I recommend it by far.

Best nail place on the Peninsula. Kelley is great and her entire staff. Wouldn’t go anywhere else

Had to get my nails done quickly today so stopped into a salon I haven’t tried before. Please see the photo I’ve posted on the cuticle cut. That should say everything except that the towels they use are stained. I can’t imagine why this place is still in business. I did have a pleasant talk with a regular customer. We walked outside together and she told me she, too, had been cut before. This place is as bad as they come.

I would give 0 stars if I could. But let me be fair and list out pros and cons.
Pro: apparently, they had a mani/​pedi deal:$ 30 instead of $ 35. I didn’t know about this deal, so it’s good that they are honest about it… but let me tell you now, the $ 5 discount isn’t worth what I went through.
Cons: I get pedis to fix my ingrowns. My right big toe was done without too much pain. But my left side, she was poking that like there’s gold in there she’s trying to take out. Which was ok, I’ve had similar experiences at other salons. But when she asked if I still feel the ingrown and I said yes. It’s like she just went in there again to poke harder out of spite. And didn’t even ask me how I was doing. But she saw I was cringing I even said ouch!
Well, the next day, my big toes became inflamed. The left big toe was the worst of the two, it ballooned up and was super painful. I was limping 2 days in a row. Had to put iodine and Neosporin to keep that in control.
This is the only time my toes got inflamed like that. And I’ve been getting pedis at a lot of different places!!!
Anyway, other than infecting my toes, their service is pretty bad as well.
As I am sitting there getting my feet soaked, the older lady doing my pedi looks at my nails, looks up at me and smiles. And talks to the girl doing my mani in Vietnamese. The older lady says something and laugh and when the other younger girl doesn’t say anything, the older one looks up again at me and says, you haven’t been to the nail salon in a while huh? I said yes, I didn’t have time to go since I’ve been working like 6 days/​week 12 hr days in 2 months. Anyhow, after that, they just kept talking in Vietnamese the whole time like I don’t even exist anymore.
Then when she was about to put the nail polish, she says that the color I picked is almost empty. Just saying, but if it’s almost empty, then don’t you have to reorder a new one? Or at least take it out of the display? Anyway, she proceeds to pick a similar color but not opi brand for me. Bu I didn’t like the color they suggested so they just proceeded to add something in the nail polish to dilute it… lol!!! Which I didn’t mind, at this point, I just want to go home and get away from these rude people.
Oh and when the older lady «massaged» my legs, it was more like slapped lotion on it. Then got a hot stone and lightly rubbed it in random leg areas for a few seconds each leg… like it’s made up of truffles or something… really? It’s stones that you microwave, can’t you just let me enjoy it a little longer and massage it properly? Needless to say, there was no relaxation provided here by the older lady.
The younger lady doing my nails though, she did a pretty good job massaging my hands… but she was still talking most of the time with the older lady and was just on her phone afterwards… And the older lady? Went to sit onthe chairs, put her legs up and proceeded to watch on her iPad while I dried my nails… hahahaha
Never going back. Do yourselves a favor. Don’t come here. You deserve better service for your money. You deserve to not get inflammation on you nails either. Keep away.

Ask for Kelly — she is awesome, she pays attention to details. Great color suggestions.

The owner smokes in between clients, the salon is filthy, the employees heat up awful smelling food and it is so small and crowded. Would not recommend it to anyone.

This is by far the worst nail place I have ever been too. The manager is so rude. I called and asked the day before I made an appointment if she does «magnetic shellac», she replied yes.
I go to the salon the next day for my appointment, and she is doing someone else’s nails. Some other lady who hasn’t done magnetic shellac does my toes and they are terrible. Kelly comes to fix, and they look ok, marginal really. In any case, I said I would wait for her to do my manicure because she is the only one who knows how to do it. Exact words out of her mouth, «Yes, its easy. I could do it in my sleep.» I’m thinking, hey, this lady will be worth the wait. Right?
WRONG. She did the worst job I have ever had done. When I told her that it was not turning out well, she started slamming draws and throwing tools. I asked her to take off the shellac that she had just put on. She buffed my nails so thin (I’m pretty sure on purpose) that weeks later they are still breaking.
I’m too busy to write reviews, so when I make the effort to actually write one, it made a negative impact on me.
To top it all off, she smelled like gross smoke. I would suggest trying a different nail place.

Started going here about 2 months ago and I really like it! The owner and staff are super nice.

Let me preface this with I’m annoyed that I have to write these kind of reviews.
Scenario: a friend and I were going somewhere and she needed her nails done. Now she has been going to Kelly for over 10 years. I’ve accompanied her on several occasions to get a pedicure while she got her nails done. Each time has been meh… I should have known this time wasn’t going to be any better.
Kelly moved to a cute TINY shop on laurel that houses a facial room, 3 manicure stations and 3 pedicure chairs. As we walked in, there was someone getting a mani pedi. Kelly started the water for my feet and let me soak while the other ladies finished up. The lady doing the mani finished first, then sat down at the table and started browsing her phone.
If you follow my reviews, you know that no one ever guesses that I am Vietnamese nor do they realize I speak it fluently.
The lady doing the pedicure asks the mani lady if she was going to do my pedicure, the mani lady says «no, I am going to wait for some nails to come in». The mani-​pedi client goes to the drying station and the two ladies completely forget about her.
The pedi lady starts with my toes. NO introduction, no how is your day going, no what is your name, no nothing. Just starts on my toes. I tell her the length is fine and I just want them super square/​straight edged. In her world super square/​straigth edge means to round my toe nails and cut off the sides. Being a manicurist, there is a way to file the nails to shape them up without losing much of any length at all. That was all I needed. Her looking away as she filed my nails was not how you do it. I dont have much cuticles or rough feet so its more of a clean up job, pretty paint and most importantly the massage. This massage however… not so important in her book. Rub, rub, rub, slap on the lotion, hot stones for a minute and she thinks I should be asleep. If i wanted a half assed massage, I’d have the boyfriend give me one. The paint job was more of a slap on paint, clean up the excess and hope I dont notice.
I loathe those that lack the pride in doing a good pedicure. Definately going back to Kelly at Belle Nails in Redwood City on Broadway. Same price, thrice the effort and attention to detail. You don’t know what you have until you go somewhere else to get a shoddy pedicure.
Pros: I didn’t bleed and I got a cute little bottle of water.

Kelly is the best. She friendly, fast, great service and makes my nails look beautiful.

Wow. What a great salon. I just happened upon it with a Google search while in San Carlos. It is a beautiful little salon and everyone there is super friendly. Great service. Great work. Personable, friendly and a good value.

I was very excited when this salon opened. The décor and the way Kelly decorated is really pretty. Few things, Kelly is nice and the few times I have been really happy with my nails. But Please, Please Stop smoking…
Really? I pay to have facials etc and Kelly is breathing on your face with nasty smoke, does not wash her hands., really! Between each customer she has to go out and smoke, again never washes hands. Last time I went she spent more time on her cell phone, left twice to smoke. Nails were just okay this last time. Pedicures 1^st time was good, love the Hot stone massage, 2^nd time had to go home and file my big toes. Really want this to be a 5 star place. Maybe will try one more time.
