Another Peruvian food truck entrant. As a lomo saltado aficionado, the more the better. I’ve had better and I’ve definitely had worse. They were parked by the Justin Herman Plaza skating rink, so were about 1⁄3 the price of the nearby La Mar. Fits the bill for an inexpensive Peruvian fix, hence the«A-OK» 3-star. Lomo Saltado: I’m a huge lomo saltado fan and it’s my benchmark dish when trying a Peruvian joint, whether super pricey/bougie or a humble food truck. I really liked their generous portion of meat for a reasonable price. Sometimes you feel like paying $ 30 for a few cuts of prime beef tenderloin, but other times you just want a bunch of beef stir fry. The sauce was tangy/salty and had an ample amount of red onions to go around. Despite the menu listing, I didn’t see a single bit of cilantro in my dish; very disappointing since I love cilantro. Similarly disappointing were that the fries were not stir fried with everything else so they could soak up some sauce. The compostable container did a good job of soaking up the remaining sauce, leaving nothing to dip the fries in. Adobo Mini Tacos: Swimming in red pepper sauce and some sort of cream sauce. Tasty, but seemed a lot like Mexican tacos, especially that tinga-style. Asado Wrap: Tasted like pot roast in a wrap. Not bad, but the lomo saltado is better. Once again, very generous with the meat portion.
