Bubble & Fluff Laundry

Their hours are wrong. I drive all the way here, there are 2 signs on the door that say they open at 5am and Unilocal states the same. It’s 6:55am and no one is here. How do you operate a business this way!?! I’m confused and the owners clearly lack common sense.

So good so far. This is my first time here. This is what I have observed so far:
Pros:
–They are open on Sunday.
–There appears to be a change machine.
–There is a coin-​operated laundry soap dispenser.
–Free newspapers to read.
Cons:
–None of the machines take card payments or coins that are not quarters (needs a technology update– it is 2015 and it is also the Bay Area).
–They are not open later than 9pm daily– huge bummer.
–Today (a Sunday) at about 4:13pm: there are no washing machines available. I was lucky, but it looks like that could be an issue in the future.
–Washers are front-​load (prone to issues, but that is just my personal experience).
–No locks on the dryers (you cannot leave the laundromat).
–People leave their laundry unattended in the machines for an unacceptable amount of time.
–No customized settings on the regular size machines (only «Colors», «Delicates,» etc.).
–Delicates setting on the wash is set to warm temperature! WRONG!
Notes:
–There are 13 home size front load washers.
–There are 6 industry sized front load washers.
–There are 18 large front-​load dryers.

Big, clean place, Nice machines. Sufficient roadside parking. They have a machine for quarters. Soap and softener are available for purchase.
I like that trader joes is nearby. I can do my grocery shopping while my clothes wash/​dry.

Very clean and spacious with good equipment. Bonus points for Trader joes proximity!

I thought I’d updated my review, but I hadn’t. Well, when I’m wrong, I admit it. It turned out that the doors were unlocked — but! — the lights were off and it was verrrry dark in there. There was no «Open» sign so I presumed it was closed. As a female alone at an early hour (still totally dark outside), I certainly wasn’t going in until there were signs of life. Once the sun came up (I was still waiting in my car), a man walked in and that was when I realized it was open.
Hopefully there will be an «Open» sign or at least time-​controlled lights so people a) know it’s open and b) feel safe.
Thank you for your follow-​up to my review. Much appreciated. Other than that snafu, I’ve been happy with this laundromat.

I normally go to the Millbrae Laundry mat and this is a complete different.
This place was a mess,
— tons of lint things dirt on the floor.
— I walked in and a man was working on the dryers.
— my clothes were put in the dryer there i put each for about 45 mins. yet STILL WERE WET.
–you have open the tray and clean the lint.
— Burned my hand grabbing my clothes out the dryer.
— Man said that they clean the washers out every night, LIE.
— did not offer to give me any money back.
just a waist of my time.
DO NOT GO HERE.

Omg. So clean and many machines to choose from. Not so dodgy looking people here. And there’s no lingering suspicious smells in the air. Lol

Bubble and Fluff is very clean every single time I have been in here! I have been coming here occasionally when I have 8+ loads of laundry to be done and I get it all done at once, it’s lovely! The machines I have used have never ever had a problem! My laundry always is perfect when it’s finished!

One star because they were not open when they said they would be! Great reviews here, hours advertised as being open 7 days a week, from 5a to 9p, so I drove over from Palo Alto early in the morning (arriving ~ 5:30a), intending to do a quick load of laundry and then head over to the Omelette Place for breakfast, I pull up in front, and it’s dark and very, very closed, with a sign on the door, «NEW HOURS Open Every Day 5:00 am to 9:00 pm». NOT HAPPY! If you’re a business and you advertise your hours, especially on your front door, gotta keep em!!!

Bubble and Fluff is the cleanest laundromat I have ever been in. In addition, the light blue walls and orange modern chairs give it a funky and fun vibe. Free wifi & you can go across the street while your stuff is in the washer to shop at Trader Joes or Walgreens. Its $ 2 for a wash and about $ 1 for a dry. Although I have washing machines at my apartment complex, I drive 10 minutes out of my way to go here.

This is the hippest, cleanest laundromat I’ve been to. It has a retro vibe. Machines are new, clean and work great. I know this pretty far from home to do laundry but whenever I’m in the neighborhood it’s a pleasant place to do laundry. One afternoon, I forgot to take home my comforter. Since I live in Palo Alto, I didn’t have time to come back until the next morning. It was still there — so I feel like it’s unlikely your laundry will be stolen here.
The only downside is that the wifi never seems to connect when I’m there. Might be my bad luck.

All laundromats suck to a greater or less extent. As far as laundromats go, Bubble and Fluff would ordinarily rate fairly highly: the machines are relatively new, the dryers don’t stink…
But their hands off management style leaves a lot to be desired. As I type this — using my cell phone as a hotspot because the advertised free wireless is totally bogus — an insane man is rambling about how he’s had relationships with women, and how homosexuals want to rape him, and now he’s lifting up his shirt and rubbing his awful, hairy belly for all of us to see. This has been going on for about half an hour now. It’s terrifying.
Awful as it is, I could get past it if there was a phone number I could call for assistance or an email address or something… But it’s just me and a lunatic and my clothes held hostage. Thank you, Bubble and Fluff, you are officially the worst.

Parking is located in the back of laundrymat; it only happens to have 2 spaces available for customers. Traders Joes and Safeway is across the street. It’s 624p on a tuesday, and it’s extremely quiet here. Their white machines cost $ 2.00, and it could probably hold 2 loads of laundry; the midsize machines cost $ 4.00 and it can fit four heavy loads of clothes or a basket full of towels, a comforter, and a blanket (which I manage to accommodate in the machines, with a little bit of room to spare, so it’s not overstuffed). Their largest utility machine costs $ 6.00 and it can fit 6 heavy loads of laundry. This thing is huge, and lots of room! All of the machines happens to be well maintained and clean. The wash is 30 minutes, and the dryer takes 7 minutes. Dryers cost. I give this place 2 stars only because of them having only 2 folding tables, other than that, it’s definitely a place I don’t mind visiting if I’m in the area of San Carlos

Reviewing a Laundromat? I know, I know — not too exciting. And it doesn’t say much for me, heck I don’t even own my own washer and dryer yet… But I digress…
Once a week I make the quick trip from Dirty Redwood City to the much cleaner & nicer town of San Carlos. This is a great facility: it is clean, quiet and has enough machines to keep most people happy on the busy days.
I usually bring my laptop and use their free WiFi, while sitting in my vehicle out front. Trader Joes is right across the street, so I usually do my shopping while the machine is does it’s washing.
*I think it is pretty common for Laundromats to attract some pretty interesting clientele. I have twice come across people talking to themselves and carrying on conversations with what appear to be the washing machines* — while visiting this soap and sud establishment (I just thought that was kinda funny and would pass it along).

I’m a new fan of the Bubble and Fluff! This place is simple and great! Nice new front loading machines that really clean your clothes (YAY!) and dryers that work. A previous poster complained that the dryer didn’t dry his clothes very well. That was not my experience at all. A helpful tip is to make sure the lint is cleaned out of the screen before starting your drying load. There’s a clearly marked drawer below the door that you can pull out to remove the dryer lint. Even with just 50 cents my smallish load got dry.
I appreciate that there is WiFi and a little table with chairs for those who wish to work on their laptops. I find the prices are fair too. I like that this is a simple place and that the washers «lock» so I can run out for 30 minutes (the length of the hot cycle) and get something from Walgreen’s or Trader Joes across the street without worrying about something happening to my laundry.
Parking was easy, close by and free. While my things were drying I picked up a bunch of used dryer sheets off of the floor. I appreciate the reasonable prices for this laundromat and suggest everyone does their part to help keep the floors and tables tidy. If the owners have to hire someone to clean up after us then the prices will have to go up to cover their costs, obviously.

I agree with Meaghan B about the «Bubble and Squeak» reference, and now call this place by that name. I’ve had a few big items to wash lately and was so happy to see positive reviews on Unilocal.
When you walk in it is apparent that this is in fact the cleanest laundromat around; bright walls, lots of light, and well-​maintained machines. Upon closer inspection (especially when I want to fold something on the tables by the dryers) the dirt does exist and I am so glad that I had wipey cloths to clean off the counters, otherwise, there is no way that my clean items are going anywhere near there. Doesn’t someone come in regularly to clean? I’ve been there twice and both times the tables were very dirty. Also, is there no bathroom???
Good place. I’ll be back but will be sure to bring paper towels and 409!

Our apartment complex has 2 mini-​washers + 2 dryers for every 10 units. They’re also frequently covered in soot — so much so that you dread washing your clothes in fear of getting them dirty (er).
Roxy G., thank you for leading us to Bubble & Fluff. It’s 5mins away, in a nice neighborhood, and ultra clean. Even with 8 loads of laundry, there was no shortage of washers and dryers on a Sunday evening. Plus, there’s a Trader Joe’s and Walgreens nearby for when we get thirsty/​hungry.
The only thing this place needs are little tables to go with their chairs so I can bring a lappy next time since they have free wi-​fi. and maybe a bench outside.
The regular machines have gone up to $ 2, the double-​load $ 4, and the triple-​load $ 6. Make sure you check the soap compartments for bleach and detergent that the last guy may have left behind — clothes with splotches of discoloration haven’t been in for a while.

Clean, light, airy, good machines well maintained. The wireless is decent and you can go do some shopping at Trader Joe’s across the street.

We’ve had a bit of trouble not calling this place Bubble and Squeak (a traditional English cabbage/​kale and potato dish).
Definitely clean! The machines appear to be in good repair and I didn’t run into a machine I wasn’t comfortable putting my clothes into (gum in the dryers, snags in the metal drums, these are things I’ve seen). There’s apparently wi-​fi on site, but I didn’t use it.
The machines run from $ 1.50 for a «standard» high-​efficiency machine that actually holds about two loads of clothes to $ 6.00 for the mega-​huge six-​load wash-​all. The very large dryers are twenty five cents for seven minutes but work really quickly and well, even on the lower heat settings, provided you clean the lint trap as suggested. Change machine on-​site transform your bills ($ 1, $ 5, $ 10 and $ 20 accepted, according the machine) into quarters. There’s also a gum-​ball machine style soap vending machine available that you can spend a few bucks for a box of Tide or whatever. The signs all over the wall remind you that the HE machines only need ¼ of the soap a regular machine does.
Even in the middle of a Saturday afternoon I didn’t have to elbow over any grannies or kids to get to some machines; in fact, my husband and I were some of the few people there. Of the 13 regular machines, about seven seemed to be the most in use at one time while we were there. There are only four of the mid-​range machines and two of the largest machines.
The seating is lacking, unfortunately, and it is not air conditioned. The parking situation is interesting — all of the street parking in front is labeled as 20 minute parking, but didn’t seem to be enforced when we were there. There is some two-​hour street parking further down the block and across the street. There did seem to be parking in the back, but I didn’t check that out.
Mmmm… fresh laundry.

A good, clean, cheap place to do your laundry. We’ve tried a couple of laundromats in San Carlos and Burlingame and this one is by far the best.
My bf and I recently talked to one of the owners as she was sprucing up the place and she seems cool. First time I’ve ever actually seen the owners of a laundromat, so points for just that!
