Bob and Kevin have serviced our Highlander and Suburban in the past few months and we find them to be excellent. We don’t know what took us so long to find them. No hidden agendas. Fair pricing and the work is great. !!!

These guys are the reason my 1997 Jeep is still running. Their diagnosis of my «Jeep issues» have been spot on. I have traveled the Bay Area for excellent service and these guys are some are thorough, honest and provide quality service without delay.

Been with them over ten year and all work is excellent. They have worked on my car and truck.

I’ve been taking my truck here for awhile but the last couple trips I’ve had has not made me want to come back. I had them replace my brakes and some lights in my dashboard. The brakes cost me around $ 1500 and the dash lights cost me about $ 250 which was a bummer. If I would have known that 5 dash lights would cost me that much I would have done it myself. But what was disappointing is after I got new brakes, they haven’t stopped squeaking. Took my truck in again to have them checked out and they said they did not hear anything. Drove away and pushed on the brakes and immediately heard the squeak. Also after they replaced my dash lights I have had multiple lights start flashing after they replaced them. Pretty disappointed after I almost spent $ 2000 in repairs and I still have very loud screeching brakes and dash lights that will not turn off. Don’t know if i’m going to come back here again due to the lack of care and frustration this has brought to my daily life while driving around. Also after I got my truck back the most recent time I have had more trouble with it which has made me even more frustrated! Great guys but these 2 trips have sucked really bad…

I called to see if they were able to do some work on my 1948 truck. Unfortunately due to parts he was not able to, but was extremely nice and did give me another reference.

What a great auto repair shop just down the street from home. Businesses like Bob and Kevin’s are just one of the reasons why I love San Carlos. The auto shop is «traditional» in the positive kind of way. I dont believe they have a website but they are centrally located, good hours so if you want to reach them, just pick up the phone or drive on up. I have dealt with both Keven and Bob when needing to deal with my ’69 Oldsmobile. They are both professional, friendly, and helpful. They are straight forward no nonsense kind of guys in a good way. They give a fair diagnosis, tell you what needs to be done and roughly how much. Then they support your decision. They didnt nickel and dime and were very fair in the way they do business. Good follow through too. I hope they continue to be very very successful. I am a fan. Thank you…

Figured my review needed an update since it was originally posted back in 2011. 4 years later I still bring all my vehicles to Bob & Kevin’s. They are still hands down the best in the SF Bay Area if you want an excellent repair job using genuine parts at a fair and reasonable price. You get a straight up this is what’s the problem, how much it will cost and as others have mentioned many times it can come out less than originally estimated. I just purchased a new ride and wouldn’t trust any other repair shop than B&K to work on it.

My wife and I started taking our cars to Bob and Kevin’s a few years ago and we love their shop. They are good honest businesspeople and great repairmen who know a lot about many kinds of cars.

This is the best Auto repair on the Peninsula. I’m a Contractor and my trucks are my life blood. Bob & Kevin’s Service is reliable and quick. They are honest !
When my trucks are down, my business suffers, so I call Bob and Kevin’s and get a timely turn around and quality workmanship. Highly Reccomend!

Just thought I should refresh this… I have continued using these guys in the @6 years since the first review, and have had nothing but good experiences. They take pride in doing things right, and the costs are entirely fair. In fact, they usually come in below their estimate. They have taken on some odd repairs that required some investigation on their part, and always took the time to sort it out.
Look, having a good auto mechanic that you trust is one of the keys to happiness. What more can I say?

Bob and Kevin are straight-​forward, good-​hearted, knowledgeable and fair mechanics. You can’t get any better in the area. I’ve had them check out cars before I bought and they are so helpful, they really go to bat for you.

I found this place by accident, ans the Unilocalers reviews, my Ford Expedition was running rough Kevin was friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I thought it needed a tune-​up but Kevin said it was the breaks that needed to be changed and a couple of other things. I was impressed with his honesty not every day you find a mechanich who is. I recommend this shop to anyone if you want good quality work. The price was right I will bring back my car again and again. Bob and Kevin have gain a customer for the life in me.

I was having trouble getting fuel lid to open on my 4Runner and took it by the shop for a look. I figured the cable between the latch and the release had snapped and was going to need replacement. At the shop, Kevin (who I can only assume is the Kevin of Bob & Kevin, however I cannot confirm nor deny as I did not ask) was able to open it using a screwdriver and then showed me that the issue had to do with a cheap plastic spring that needed replacing (and that I could do it on my own) and not a problem with the cable. This probably saved me a couple hundred dollars. I left on my merry way, relieved that I avoided a large repair bill.
Although Bob & Kevin didn’t get my money this time around, I am super thankful for their honesty and will surely spread the word of their reputation. As a San Carlos resident, they will receive my business in the future.

I’ve been taking my cars (I’ve had 3 different one – all used) to Bob and Kevin for the past 7 years; they are honest and usually get the work done the same day. They are good about explaining what needs to be done. They have shown me how to get paint off my car (I think it was carburetor cleaner – I need to ask again) when I had taken it in for something else, unbent a muffler after my son backed over some boulders without charging me (of course they have to charge – otherwise they’d be out of business-​this was an exception), fixed a punctured tire for a nominal fee; it was the middle of the day but they took the time then to fix it.
It is really important to trust the mechanics you take your car to-​I definitely trust these guys and recommend them highly.

My family and I have been going to Bob and Kevin’s Service for 25 years. My 1974 Chevy Nova has 200K miles on it and still runs like a CHAMP! I even bought a 1976 Chevy truck from Kevin and it still runs great to this day! There is no other place I would trust to take my vehicles. I drive from Aptos to bring my vehicles to Bob and Kevin’s Service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

My driver side window of my Infiniti would roll up all the way when I pressed the up button but then go down afterwards leaving a gap every time despite pressing the up button.
I called over 6 auto repair places in the area asking for help. most of them wanted me to go there and pay on average $ 100 for an «estimate».
These guys answered my phone and candidly told me that I should try playing with the up and down buttons by resetting the memory of the window. I googled their suggestion for the infiniti and they were right — this was a common problem with infitinits and their solution was mentioned several times. I called back and told them it didn’t work and then they told me that if that didn’t work that I should call the dealership to do a total reset of the computer and that it was out of their realm. I googled that suggestion and they were right again.
They are totally honest and didn’t try to rip me off with an «estimation» fee of $ 100 unlike everyone else.
If I have another car problem, I’d totally call them again and see them.

I brought in my 96 Ford Ranger with several electrical problems and needed a service. Kevin fixed everything on time and I am still shocked how low the price was. Didn’t even charge me to troubleshoot or fix the door chime. Great place. Highly recommended.

So, here’s the deal, we all know that taking your car to a mechanic is a scary thing. For me it was beyond scary. My dad is my mechanic but is now retired and wasn’t able to do the work I needed. I went to Bob & Kevin’s on a referral and was still a bit hesitant. I talked to Kevin and explained my problem. He was well spoken and said he would look into it and get back to me as soon as he could. He got back to me with the bad news and although it was bad news I kind of expected it so I wasn’t completely freaked out… I gave him the go ahead and a couple of days later my car was complete and good as new.
The bottom line on this shop is this — a couple of good honest mechanics. I will not hesitate to refer my friends to them and I will take my car there in the future. Kevin went above and beyond with my vehicle and I feel so lucky that of all places I ended up there for some major service.

These guys are great. As a woman, I’m always skeptical when I have to go to a mechanic. My engine light was on and I expected that it was going to be something very expensive. I anticipated a $ 600 plus repair and they said they would look into it. I got a call shortly after I left and learned that it was simply that the bonehead at the drive-​thru oil change place failed to reset the check engine light. A bonus — they determined that my back brakes were wearing thin and it would only be a short time before they would cause more damage. A recommendation I sincerely appreciated.
So — if you want great auto repair and a spirited conversation about the Giant’s or the A’s, this is the place. Truly good guys who have built a strong reputation on honesty and good work.
