History

Established in 2012.

Alex is an acupuncturist and wellness professional that helps her clients optimize their health and well-being. Through her experience of working among healers, health professionals and wellness practitioners, Alex has come to adopt a holistic and comprehensive approach to health.

Her practice has ranged from treating patients privately in a hospital setting to holding community acupuncture in yoga studios. As co-owner of a wellness center in 2013, she introduced acupuncture services to the center and opened the space to offer affordable community acupuncture for low-income clients. Alex is passionate about supporting her local community and her goal is to ultimately help people thrive in their environment.

Currently, Alex operates a private practice in San Carlos and offers house calls in the San Francisco Bay Area. She enjoys guiding patients through their unique journey to wellness and strives to support and empower creative and active people in their health and healing.

Business Owner

Alex Sanchez, LAc is a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She holds a Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from San Francisco State University.

Her clinical experience includes treating patients at the California Pacific Medical Center’s Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit, Emperors College Community Clinic, UCLA Arthur Ashe Health Center and the doctoral specialty clinic at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco.

Using a gentle technique, Alex treats a wide variety of health conditions combining acupuncture, herbs, tui na, qi gong and nutritional therapy. She especially enjoys focusing on women’s health, mental and emotional wellness, chronic pain, digestive disorders and cosmetic acupuncture.

Her mission is to empower patients through health and wellness education and provide compassionate and individualized healthcare.

I have had a lot of different acupuncturists over the years and Alex is by far the best. She makes you feel so comfortable and is completely thorough in her intake form process and diagnosis procedures. Her needling doesn’t hurt a bit, she is really gentle. She also makes house calls which is so luxurious yet her prices are totally fair for the home visit. I hear she has a nice office in downtown San Carlos too.

When I was diagnosed with Endometriosis last year I was pretty sure that I would be living the life of Big Pharma and lots of surgeries. Luckily I have some great friends that directed me to Alex and to Turning Point Acupuncture.
I have not only seen a reduction in my symptoms, which is keeping me off the meds — but I also feel generally more calm and centered. Endometriosis, like most diseases, is brought on and worsened by stress, so the relaxation I feel is so important to my well-being.
I would recommend this business and acupuncture itself to anyone who is looking for a holistic alternative that really get results.

Vicodin makes me nauseous (really, most pain killers do), so when somebody recommended acupuncture as an alternative for my bruised ribs after a recent car accident, I thought, hey, why not? Well, there were some why nots, but they were mostly based in the fact that I’ve never tried it before, but I have no fear of needles, so I thought I’d just give it a go. Honestly, even if you do have a fear of needles, that shouldn’t be a determining factor. Just do what I do at the dentist: focus on a spot on the ceiling, think about what your life would be like if you had married your kindergarten teacher, and breathe.
The needles really didn’t hurt, though. On the alternative, they felt great. It’s fascinating the way it works. Which I don’t honestly understand, but the way it feels is sort of like… a little bit of pressure here, and then this other completely different part of you feels something calming, relaxing, nice. As does the part where the needles are going. It’s kind of like in old cartoons, when the character plugged up the sink, and then suddenly the toilet starts spouting water. But in a good way.
Turning Point was super friendly and totally answered all my concerns, made me feel comfortable, and provided a great amount of relief while my ribs healed. Now if I could just get them to come with me to the dentist! Hey-oh! Zinger patrol!
I hope never to bruise my ribs again, but if I do, i’ll go back here.

I went here for a sore tennis shoulder and crick in my neck. They were professional, made me feel I was in good hands and I left feeling very relaxed and my pain significantly reduced. It’s been two weeks, and the pain is still barely noticeable. Whatever they did, it worked. Awesome. Can’t say enough — go here!

I know this place is still brand new but I can’t believe there are no reviews yet!
Being a grad school student, stress is an everyday event for this girl. Talking with a friend, we were discussing healthier ways to unwind then making a fool out of ourselves at the local pub and the idea of acupuncture came up. I have always been a little skeptical of the idea but I figured why the hell not, cant hurt to give it a try, right? Plus having tattoos I really have no reason to be scared of needles… theoretically…
My friend had mentioned this new place that she had heard good things about apparently owned by a young business owner, so I decided if I was going to try something new may as well support a new business by a young entrepreneur. So glad I did! From the get go the place was really warm and welcoming and the girl helping me… think she may have been the owner but not sure… put me at ease and addressed and discussed all of my nervous concerns. She was a total sweet heart and totally gentle. To my relief and pleasure the whole experience was fantastic and good god did I feel relaxed. Everything seemed really clean and hygenic, and I wouldnt hesitate to go back next time Im a total stresscase… or even if I just feel like being pampered. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for easing me into an amazing new experience.
