Had my hair cut here for the first time, loved the cut and was a good price! Will be returning!

Chris is AMAZING. My mom has been going to her forever, and when I decided that I wanted to make a huge change to my hair (dying it red), going to Chris was a no-​brainer. And it was amazing. I didn’t really know what I wanted, and she helped me decide on a look so perfect, I commute across the bay to keep seeing her for it.

As Chris mentions below, the salon burned down on Saturday, Oct 18^th. The landlord will convert the space to another use and Chris will not re-​open the salon at this location. But fear not, everyone is OK and Chris is now working at Hair Definitions on 443 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94 066. Liza and Annette are working there too! She is still on her old schedule of working Wednesday — Saturday.
As for my own experience, Christine is fantastic. She cuts my hair in about 20 minutes and I’m almost always happy with the job. For a dude, I have relatively long hair that curls a little bit but not too much. I like to keep it long with good volume because I have an enormous head, and I look terrible with a short cut.
I first came to Christine because a Unilocal reviewer said Chris is good for guys with longer hair (not like a girl’s hair, just longer). Unfortunately, most stylists don’t know what to do when a guy asks for anything other than a buzz cut variant or a fade. They always stare at me blankly and cut it too short anyway.
Chris agrees with me on the length of my hair and she never cuts my hair shorter than how I like it. I used to live in San Bruno and I was literally 5 minutes away on foot. Now I’ve lived in San Francisco for two years, and I still make the drive out to see Christine every month. For a guy looking for a haircut, I think that’s a pretty good show of loyalty. I actually don’t know how good she is with ladies, but I’d imagine she’s great with ladies too because practically all the reviewers are female. I just thought I’d chime in to add a little gender diversity.
What are you waiting for? Go see Christine and give her a try! She’s opinionated, sassy, and sharp-​tongued with a wit to match. You won’t just get a great cut, you’ll be highly entertained as well!

This place is amazing. Chris is very knowledgeable and listens to everything. I really respect her opinion and trust her. I was so impressed with her and her establishment that I brought my 4 year old in to get her hair trimmed. Chris was wonderful with her and talked her through everything. I can’t recommend Double Image enough.

I found my hairdresser! Went to Christine for a haircut today for the first time and am very happy with the result, will definitely be coming back! I found her on Unilocal based on her great reviews and now I can agree with all the other Unilocalers that Double Image and especially Christine deserves all the 5 stars it got. She is very knowledgable when it comes to hair and also very friendly. I will definitely be a customer and will recommend her to everybody I know.

So I usually don’t Unilocal unless something really impresses me. Just got my hair cut by Liza today and got tons of compliments when I went out tonight. She took a different approach to my hair and asked me what I wanted to happen. If you have triangular bushy and fine hair that looks frumpy when long, she will fix it. Thanks Liza:) having fun with my new style:)

Just saw Liza for the first time. I love my hair. She is fantastic. Great personality and really tried to understand me and how I handle my hair.
I do not live close by. in fact probably 30 miles away but will definitely return.

I always like to update this review every so often so that people know that I still come here over and over again for the last 13 years. I have had my hair long for about 8 years now, but recently decided I wanted it short. I forgot a picture, but said I wanted it cut between my chin and shoulders with layers. And of course Chris listened and made me look wonderful. I can stop playing with my hair now.

I’ve been going here for about a year and can’t say enough about it and Liza! I’ve had a million terrible haircuts (some could even be considered mullet-​like) because many hairdressers don’t understand what long layers are. Liza is super friendly and remembers everything. I love that I can walk in and she knows just what to do with my hair. I’ve never had a bad haircut since I started getting cuts from Liza… amazing!

Normally I am not a Unilocal reviewer but I need to write this…
I am trying this place and made an appointment with Liza because I read really good reviews with everybody. People are nice and friendly but got the worse hair cut of my life. Honestly, I thought if I tied my hair up in a ponytail and just cut it with my kitchen scissors it would turn out better.
I asked for copper brown highlights and a haircut to even out my layers. Originally I had some highlights and wavy hair but it has grown out and needed touch up.
I came out with hair uneven on the two sides, my right side is 1.5 inches longer than the left and it’s not intentional. My hair got dye to total black (think goth). The layers are choppy and made me look like a shag rug or a samurai who lost his hair tie.
After the blow dry and everything is finished, I was not smiling and she said I am just going to piss her off by not giving her a smile…
I ended up having to pay $ 95 + tips ($ 110) and wished I never walked in there.

I have been to Double Image several times over the past few years for highlights and cuts and can genuinely say that I’ve always been impressed by the quality and the service. I always get what I want from Liza. With little explanation she understands what you are looking for and delivers spot on. The vibe is refreshingly relaxed and the prices reasonable– what more could you want? Easy location + great staff — pretentions hair snobs = SCORE! Double Image is a winner!

This place is AWESOME!!!
After moving to the city from SoCal… I tried a place in Downtown SF. My first visit there was great (but very pricey) — my 2^nd visit was still very pricey, & they turned my blonde hair PURPLE from leaving the toner on wayyyyy too long! It was embarrassing! And a rookie mistake! Safe to say I was never going back there again.
So I did my Unilocaling and found Double Image! I don’t need a fancy downtown salon… just good friendly service with a colorist/​stylist that knows what she’s doing! Chris is just that. She’s been in business for over 20 years at the same location. She was friendly, knowledgeable, listened to what I wanted, then offered an alternative coloring option to achieve what I really wanted while saving me $$$!!! Unheard of! I left with highlights and a cut for $ 72-​$ 78!!! That’s unreal!!! She was really forgiving even though I was 15 minutes late (getting out of the city can be hard & it was further off the freeway than I realized). My 2^nd trip was just as great (I again was accidentally 15 min late) and I’ve received a ton of compliments from strangers that like my color.
Glad I finally found my new hair spot after moving… and it only took 2 tries. This place is great, friendly, & fast! Thx Chris! :)

I had to get a haircut the other day after spending months letting it grow out. I didn’t really want to cut it, but knew I should get something done because it was getting pretty shaggy.
Chris made an appointment for me on very short notice and gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever received. She asked how I’d like it cut, offered a few helpful suggestions, and knew exactly what I wanted. She even washed it for me!
One week later, and my hair looks great. I do believe I have found my favorite barber. I will definitely be back. For men with long hair who live on the peninsula, this is the place to go. Simply a great cut at a great price.

Double Image (Chris) is a hidden gem!
Great hair salon. With wonderful people and the best prices. You can get everything done at Double Image that a big expensive salon does without the snotty people and big prices.
I see Chris, the owner/​stylist, she is very good at highlights, she massages my scalp in shampoo bowl and gives me an extra conditioning treatment. My hair does not require a stylish haircut but i have seen her work and it’s really good.
After going to all these high end salons and paying $ 1000’s of dollars over the years, never again Double image is the only place I go to for my highlights.

Double Image is by far one of the greatest discoveries I’ve come across on Unilocal.I was in need of a hair cut for my desperately dry and long hair, and I came across Double Image by way of some great reviews. I immediately appreciated the friendly customer service that I received from my first phone call, and was given an appointment without any hassle.
The welcoming customer service I received on the phone was only amplified when finally meeting Chris for my first appointment. Chris made me feel at home the moment I entered the door, continuously keeping in mind my personal preferences while providing excellent suggestions for my hair.
Throughout my time there I was consistently consulted with every cut and detail, ensuring my satisfaction with my hair cut. I especially appreciated the gentle care Chris took when brushing and blow drying my hair; an essential part of my haircut that had been unpleasant and harsh with my thick, long hair at other salons.
Chris was able to replenish my hair’s natural softness, and provided me with a layered look that I love. I highly suggest Double Image for anyone with long hair, or anyone who wants a great quality hair cut for an excellent price. I look forward to many more visits to Double Image, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience there.

I’m not bias. I’m just sold on a great place. It’s not because Chris has cut my hair for 30+ years. It’s because she is doing a fantastic job. Double Image is great with their years of experience with all hair types. Short, long, straight, curly, thick and thin. It’s great to be able to walk into a place and know that you will be well taken care, with their excellent service and walk away with a great hair style. Chris has been cutting hair since i was a little girl and now my daughter sits in the same booster seat I did.
I would recommend make an appointment. A walk in is not always possible.
They are all great in there!

After yet another bad haircut, my daughter said,
«Mom, call Chris at Double Image.» Daughters give awesome advice!
Chris carefully considered the cut I needed for the shape of my face. She warned me that it would take a couple of haircuts to undo some of the damage done; but even after this first cut it looks 10Xs better.
I think I can put my collection of knit caps away now!

I called to book an appt for my boss. Whoever answered the phone was very friendly. He has gone back to them at least 3 times which means they are doing something right.
The prices are bout $ 14 for a men’s hair cut and up.
He hasn’t complained and I still have a job. I’d say they deserve 5 stars for that.
