Rolling Motors

My son and I set out to buy a used Subaru WRX in great condition. Research drove us to Rolling Motors’ selection of used Subaru cars. First selection rejected due to excessive undercarriage rust per 3^rd party inspection. Second selection was a 2004 with 80k miles that was approved by 3^rd party inspection nearby with a few minor tweaks including replacing the 100k drive belt. Since the belt was operational, we negotiated with Rolling Motors to have it replaced at our expense but at dealer pricing. Fair trade. After driving the car for less than 30 days/​500 miles, my son noticed a strong smell and smoke. Turns out a common Subaru ailment of CV boot leakage was to blame plus valve cover gaskets also leaking. Insurance included with Rolling Motor used car purchase covers gaskets minus $ 100 co-​pay. Asked Rolling Motors to split the $ 400 CV repair plus the valve co-​pay or total of $ 250. Reply = No. Also offered to bring it to them to repair. Same reply = no. Owners discussed our request but felt 30 days was beyond reasonable wear on a car where we paid a premium (e.g. ~ asking price) Blue Book value on a 12 year old car.
Yes, it’s a great used car but we were only asking for reasonable, fair treatment post purchase. Expected better, so should you.

Saw a truck on their web-​site that I wanted to buy. I applied for financing on their web-​site and a few minutes later Nick from the dealership called me back. He was very honest and let me know that I would need cash along with financing. I told him I’d look around for alternative financing options. I found a cheap rate/​loan on-​line and went to Rolling Motors the next day. When I got their the next day I dealt with Damian. We went through all the paper work within an hour or so and then I was on my way. From someone who has purchased multiple cars and motorcycles from different dealership throughout the years… this was a very hassle free process. I definitely would recommend Roling Motors for anyone looking for a used car.

I drive by these guys everyday on my way to work. They always have something that catches my eyes. So when it was time to find new toy. Guess where I went? I knew I wanted something faster than my sentra. I pretty much told them that I knew it would have to be turbo (wrx) or have at least 6 cylinders (M3) So I asked if I could drive both back to back. Nick was totally cool about it! WRX was FAST. the M3 was euro Luxury. I was torn. Nick recommend that I call my insurance and see which one is cheaper to insure. BINGO! The M3 was almost 35% cheaper to insure. So three hours later I was leaving in my 2004 BMW M3 SMG with a gas voucher for a full tank. Thanks Nick and Rolling motors for walking this NEWB thru the process.

I bought a 2005 mazdaspeed Miata with 115k miles (advertised as like new) for $ 10k. I was so happy to find this car because I had been wanting a Miata for years now. I was even more thrilled about the aforementioned like new condition. The price seemed a bit high but I did some research and the car wasn’t too common and I guess could be called rare. He got our low credit approved which was great! But I was faced with problems immediately. The engine light turned on and I found out that it didn’t have the stock catalytic converter on it, but an after market down pipe. I remember I asked one of the guys on the phone if it was all stock and he said yes it was. I called them about it and thankfully they fixed the problem no charge and put an actual mazdaspeed cat on it. I thought my problems were over but I started to have an oil leak. After the first problem I just did not want to deal with these guys anymore and waste gas driving all the way to them. I took it to a place called Mr. Mazda in SJ/​campbell (recommend btw) and I had an oil leak coming from my turbo charge return pipe. Long story short I paid $ 950 to get it fixed. I was more than livid with Rolling Motors due to their misrepresentation on the car they sold me. I considered calling someone to help me get the contract rescinded, but I guess I didnt want to let go of this car. Yeah sure they have cool cars but it’s not worth it if immediately after youre presented with problem after problem. I gave 2 stars instead of one because they were nice and respectful to me the whole time, but doesn’t mean there isn’t shade!

Today i went to Rolling motors at about 1:45pm. The door had a sign that they would return at 12pm (hours today were 12 – 5). But no one was there. I inspected the car i was interested in and was very very deceived from the photos on their website and craigslist ad.
After about 10 mins of inspecting (i’ll comment on problems not listed in the ads below). I call the phone number from Unilocal.A very uneasy/​unhappy tone «hello rolling motors». I ask if they are open today due to the fact that no one was there during business hours. «Yes what time will you be there» is the response i received, again in a very unhappy tone. I tell him i am currently at the dealership and he disappointingly says he’ll be here in 15 mins a dull good bye and hangs up. I was trying to be a happy and pleasant customer.
After about thirty-​five minutes, a silver SUV audi, aggressively driving pulls up and parks very very firm and aggressively right next to where i was standing. He has no courtesy or regard to my safety. He didn’t even try to smile after i smiled at him. «What car are you interested in». He hands me the keys tells me to ask him any questions. He walks into the office and sits there eating his popcorn.
Remember the images from their website looked like the car was in excellent condition. And i didn’t mind paying for it being so.
After further inspection of this 2007 wrx wagon. HOLY CRAP this car is a rust bucket. (I’ll add image of under rear including exhaust piping/​sway bar covered in rust). There was even rust inside the car on the hinges under the seat. (Looking under the ⁰⁴⁄₀₅ wrx on the lot, no rust under at all). The read diff was covered in a black oil (suppose to be metal grey). Cat fur everywhere. I opened both coolant reservoirs to find that it was not ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ water coolant, but more like ⁹⁰⁄₁₀ water coolant (not an exaggeration). That wouldn’t make the car overheat or anything for the test drive. The worst part was that the oil had some kind of leak in it. Pulling up the dip stick to find that the oil was way above both lines, and it smelled very very very wrong. And the oil looked like no one had changed it in over 7k miles, DIRTY! And the rims had curb rash around at least 60% of every rim. Tires balding, no tools in the spare compartment. And the spare was almost bald too!!!
So i ask to take it for a test drive. Rudely asking for a copy of my ID. Then compares it to previous people’s photo copies (why does he still have those). After he pulls the car out. I drive it and it seems fine, minus all of the cheap mods the previous owner installed. My friend said that there was black smoke coming out of the back when i took off, waaadddaafffuuqq???
I decided not to buy this trap. Leaving the place i thought i forgot my ID. And i politely asked if he had it. Very angrily he told me that he gave it back (which he did). So i walked out and found it in my pocket as i left.
Noticing that another customer took a car for a test drive and the power steering on the lexus IS was not working so the sales guy came out with very cheap quality power steering fluid and filled it up.
OVERALL. My theory is, since this place sells cars that a younger person would like (all of the 3 customers that i saw there), such as s2k, wrx, old m3, IS300, mitata, etc. along with tucks. That this dealer cheaply fixes these cars cutting sooo many corners. This way it drives well during the test drive and a lot of people do not check the car’s mechanical details such as fluids, under the car, etc. They would be able to sell a car that «looks and drives sound» to someone who likes the appearance or speed of the car. And next year, wham the car has more issues than one could imagine. Their cars would be problem free for 4 months (hence their 3 month warranty free). The vibe and the cars here were just too fishy (and rusty) for me.
Basically stay away from these con men!

My experience with this dealership was great. He was fair priced, polite, wasn’t pushy, actually he really didn’t care if I bought a car at all but was very willing to work with me within reason on price. He goes out of his way to find cool, rare, fun cars. For example he’ll buy cars out of state just because they’re a hard to find manual trans or something similar. Don’t go to any used dealership expecting a perfect car and for the owners to know every detail about every car but the two I drove ran great, were priced fairly, and the dude knew the value and what he was dealing with. No hidden BS here, would buy from again. Painless registration process and received plates in mail not too long after purchase.

Came here as an inexperienced car buyer, checking out a 04 Subaru WRX. From the outside, this car looks in excellent condition and it felt solid on the road. They didn’t give me a full car inspection like their website promotes. I took their word, and I was reassured the vehicle was in excellent condition in and out. I put my trust in them and was extremely disappointed. Once I got home I took it to my friend who works exclusively on subarus and the first thing he did was look under the car. He let me know that they sold me a rust bucket and that I should return it if I could. I called and tried to return it and the guy said that when he inspected it there was little to no rust. However it has so much rust that when my friend and I took off the bumper cover we found that the crash bumper has holes and tons of rust build up. We also took off the subframe, which also had holes in from the rust. EVERYTHING HAD RUST. I can’t believe he told me that there was little to no rust. They completely took advantage of me by selling me a lemon with holes. I have spent countless hours and lots of money doing what I can to remove the rust. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and anyone who is trying to buy in the San Francisco area will now know of how shady the car sales men can be at Rolling Motors. To top it off, I bought this car under the KBB excellent condition price. But got ripped off with a rust busket. Thanks a lot Rolling Motors.

Had a pleasure of dealing with a knowledgeable employee who was very patient and extremley nice. The price of my vehicle was fare and the car runs perfectly. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for great selections on vehicles while getting great customer service at the same time.

I was looking for a Forester XT 5-​speed for 6 months, then I found Rolling Motors. At the time they probably had every FXT MT for sale on the west coast. Honestly, I was heartbroken when the Regal Blue Pearl model I called to put a deposit towards ended up getting sold due to a miscommunication. Nick offered me $ 1000 off the Champagne Gold Opal FXT they had just to make up their mistake. I put a deposit down and picked up the car about a month later. I love this car and am really glad Rolling Motors makes an effort to source the elusive unicorn Subarus. Thanks Guys!

Rolling Motors helped me locate a very specific car I’ve been having trouble searching for on my own due to my hectic work schedule. Once they found a couple that suited what I needed, they sent me a very good description of the 3 for me to choose from.
Nick contacted the seller of my top choice and had him bring the car to their location in San Bruno for me to see in person. He was able to do a thorough inspection of the car as well as point out some minor items that he would later fix for me for free. He even negotiated the price with the seller to get into my budget range which was a bonus.
In the end, 5 stars for Rolling Motors for going the extra mile and making it a seamless transaction for me to get the car I’ve been looking for!

My experience with Rolling Motors was execellent. Nick was very helpful showing me his inventory and answering all of my questions.
I was able to find a car that I wanted at a fair price! Nick is very laid back, he’s not your typical aggressive salesperson and I could tell that he has the customers best interest in mind. Rolling Motors also made financing simple and painless. Overall, I’m very happy with the deal I made.

This was the third turbo in 3 months and the second one Damien installed. Looks as though he may have left something in the turbo inlet. I am sure Nick will have this post removed as he was successful in removing 3 other. Just want people to know what they are up against if the are interested in any of the vehicles at Rolling Motors. It’s a pretty ironic name if you ask me. Also, Nick really likes to talk about going «above and beyond». He has no concept of either. Equilibrium tuning in Fairfeild, where the car was finally fixed, texted me this photo saying they have never seen anything like this. They have been specializing in Subarus and turbo cars for over a decade. I could go on and on but a picture says a thousand words.

I was in search of a new car after finding out my previous car was in need of major work. I knew the car that I wanted, but problem was that it was very hard to find a 13 Lexus GS F Sport with the Starfire Pearl/​Cabernet interior. I went to multiple dealers, and none of them had that exact car and for other similar cars they had on the lot they were asking an arm and leg for. So I was referred to Nick at Rolling Motors from my friends who had a great experience dealing with him. I came to Nick, and he made it feel like we have been friends for a long time. We talked cars, etc and I told him what I was looking for. The first thing he told me was, the car I am looking for is one of the rarest color combos there are, but yet I still wanted it. So we set a budget on what I was willing to pay and he said he’ll try his best to get the car for me. Well what do you know, 1 week later, Nick calls me and says he found the car for me. We agreed on a price which was super fair and hassle free, and now I am driving the car the I had wanted all along.
I highly recommend Nick at Rolling Motors. The way he made me feel from that start til the end of the buying process is honestly unheard of at any dealer. He genuinely cares about his customers and the cars he sells. So go to Rolling Motors, you won’t be disappointed, I sure wasn’t.

this place has a wide selection of nice cars. too bad i can only afford one. nick took car of me and gave me a great deal better than any one i found for that particular hard to find model. couldnt be happier!

Stopped by shopping for a mid size SUV. The guys showed me around and recommended a few brands. Really knowledgeable guys and no pressure.

After a couple months of searching found the car I was looking for at rolling. Called in and spoke to nick who told me it was still available. It was a pretty rare car and he seemed pretty knowledgable about it. I would recommend them and of business with them again.

My son and I purchased a beautiful BMW 323i from Nick yesterday. All I can say is that our experience was the best from start to finish. It is obvious that Nick takes a great deal of pride in what he sells and in making his customers happy. He worked hard to get a loan approved for us which wasn’t easy since my son hasn’t established any credit yet and I am currently unemployed. It was an easy sell because we had pretty much made up our minds the minute we saw the car but regardless, there was no pressure of any kind. Every car on the lot was desirable. Like I said, you can tell Nick loves what he does. It’s not a huge lot by any means but I will say this; if you are looking for quality used cars and a top notch dealership, this is the place to go. My favorite part of any business is when the experience is easy. Nick was professional from the start and his phone manners are very inviting.
I called up about a vehicle I was interested in but unfortunately it had been sold earlier in the day. Nick reassured me that he would be able to get me the same car within a few days. True to his promise my new (to me) Mazda 3 showed up. We set up an appointment for the weekend.
The whole test drive/​purchase process took about an hour and a half.

The best car buying experience I’ve ever had!
I recently purchased a used BMW from Nick. Not only was he welcoming, very approachable, and attentive, he also wasn’t trying to push me into buying, he was simply trying to help me find what I needed.
Long story short, he had the exact car I’ve been looking for, he was very accommodating with financing terms, and he made the entire process much faster and simpler than I’ve ever experienced before.
