Paramount Window & Doors

Paramount is a window & door manufacturer that does not deal with the end user/​homeowner. They don’t have time to teach someone about doors & windows because they are bidding jobs for their retailers, which they do very well. I have sold doors & windows for over 10 years and they have always been professional and helpful. You have to understand their business model before you give them a bad review. They rely on sales professionals to interpret the customers needs, submit a bid and then they will build the windows to your specifications.
The problem now days is that anyone who watches HGTV thinks they can step in and do the job of a contractor. I guarantee it is not that simple. If you think you are saving money, you are not. If you order just one window incorrectly, the entire savings on the project is lost.
Paramount (Russell in particular) are professionals. If you tell your contractor what you want, he or she will know a door & window retailer that can produce your request and they will install it. If you want to do it yourself, that’s what Home Depot is for. As always, you get what you pay for.

I needed to copy a 110 year window to match my existing ones. Paramount Windows and Doors did a stellar job! The old ones are hand made, good quality, but the new one was even better quality wood, and excellent joints.
The dimensions and glazing were perfect. The fit was as good as the original and the slots for the balances just right, making installation easy.

Trying to buy double hung windows from Paramount was one of the hardest things I had to do on my remodel project. It’s too bad because their windows look and work great.
First, it seems Paramount has a poor connection with it’s retailers and does not sell directly to consumers. With the exception of B&B Hardware in Long Beach, you will be hard-​pressed to find much of a selection of Paramount samples. After trying eight different retailers found on Paramount’s website, I had to go the factory itself to try to find one of their double hung windows. I even tried a showroom a few blocks from the factory, and they didn’t realize they carried Paramount, though they were listed on Paramount’s website and just a few blocks from their factory!
Sadly, when I went to the factory, I was treated like I was a bit nuts. «You must really want to see one of these windows.» I wasn’t offered a tour or a good selection of styles. I was ushered into a small office with a dusty sample that wasn’t close to what I was planning to order.
But because we’d had a positive experience with Paramount doors at our last house, we bit the bullet and ordered their windows, through one of their resellers Cunningham Windows & Doors (ugh). Paramount was no help in design of the windows, and it seems like they don’t do enough to help their retailers in the ordering process or provide good detail in their literature on how to order them.
As a result, our windows had to go back twice for design mistakes resulting in nearly three months in project delays and extra cost. Seems like this could have been avoided if Paramount’s reseller training was more complete and their ordering process more foolproof. Trying to talk to Paramount at that point was a nightmare. «You need to call your retailer» or calls went unanswered.
If you are trying to find authentic double hung all wood windows, do your homework! The Paramount factory knows what they are doing — our windows look good and work well — but trying to get past a bad sales staff and uneducated resellers makes the ordering unpredictable.
