Wyndham La Cascada

The staff here is amazing but honestly I prefer the other Wyndham that is closer to the riverwalk. Not only is this Wyndham on the very far end of the river, it has to be one of the noisiest hotels! Everything here makes noise. The other is more spacious. They are also pretty pushy on the sales front here so if you want to be left alone stay at the other one. The only plus here is the pool and gym.

I would give it three stars if I had not attended the sales presentation.
The sales people tried to convince me to give up four weeks with RCI in exchange for two weeks with Wyndham, because they think they are that much «better». Plus they wanted a $ 22,000 fee to enter VIP status with Wyndham. This is about where my wife stood up and walked out, no free tour guide trolley is worth this kind of aggravation. You must attend the sales presentation if you want to use the resort shuttlebus. We were told the only reason Wyndham accepts RCI exchanges is to get customers to go to their sales presentation, once you decline their $ 22,000 offer you’re no longer allowed to exchange with Wyndham
The posh exterior is a thin veneer over noisy plumbing, screeching loud HVAC and lowest bidder appliances.
Expect to pay $ 18 per day to valet park your car or take your chances on the pay for parking lots where you have to move your car every 12 hours.
We are actually happy that we can no longer exchange into the Wyndham system because we never want to come back.

Our LODGING at La Cascada was five star first rate. We’ve been distracted lately by problems which require much attention. We looked forward to our San Antonio getaway as a chance to become reacquainted with old friends and forget about our problems for a few days. We arrived after some important travel plans had fallen apart making up a ‘free-​style’ getaway on the fly. The trouble was, even though I’d called ahead regarding handicapped accessibility, we appeared two days before our reservation began. We were ready to call a cab, spend what was necessary for lodging and return after two days.
We didn’t have to leave as the front desk staff did some very quick work and found a handicapped accessible room for the duration of our stay. They were empathetic, helpful. caring and friendly. By coincidence, the general manager and maintenance head appeared at our door, not realizing the unit had been booked. They checked out whatever they’d come to inspect then asked us if we were fully happy with the unit. I’d noticed that not all of the handicapped assist items had been delivered. Less than 10 minutes after we told the manager, the necessary items arrived and were installed.
As usual, the spacious unit was well-​appointed, quiet and comfortable. A small criticism is that we wished the floors were a hard surface rather than carpeted as a wheel chair is more difficult to wheel on carpet. If our experience had ended here, we would have given an unqualified five star rating.
Unfortunately, the sales staff got their hooks into us which, in due course, would result in my screaming at one of their sales weasels.
When we travel, I’m responsible for reserving the flight and rental car, packing and unpacking, cooking and generally getting us where we are going. My wife worries about the use of our Wyndham points. I know little about the Byzantine details of categories of ownership, in what properties and when we can be booked and whatever rights and privileges we enjoy. When the concierge told us we were invited to an «Owner Update Meeting» where lunch was being served, we, against our better judgement and naïve belief that we might actually have Wyndham’s representative answer our questions, attended.
We were served a cheap lunch of iceberg lettuce and a small white bread sandwich.
The hour long canned presentation began with the head of sales working to make a personal connection with the half dozen or so couples by using first names and making mention of hometowns and recent travels to Wyndham properties. To me, the ‘get-​to-​know’ time was phony and smarmy. Seriously, buy me a real lunch where I can choose from a menu or buy me a drink at the bar, make some sports small talk, or chit chat about families, etc. to break the ice and put me at ease. From the very beginning only my suspicions and hackles were raised.
The presentation consisted of Power Point like visuals on a flat screen monitor with the ‘trainers’ comments. The content was largely cheerleading for the growth and flexibility of the Wyndham brand. There was no usable information. For example, one slide diagrammed the Wyndham property tree. The suggestion was made that Wyndham owners could apply their points across the company without a shred of specific information as to who qualified and how.
Logos of corporate partners, hotel chains, airlines, car rental companies, retail stores and more were splashed on several screens as the trainer explained that our points could be applied for discounts. This struck me as a waste of time for a program with virtually no value. We already belong to several programs through which discounts are available. Presentation of an AAA card or state ID will almost always earn a 10% discount at hotels and motels. Trading valuable Wyndham points for the same discount that is essentially free with other programs makes no sense. Not to mention, if we’re willing to fly early A.M. on Southwest’s Gotta Get Away fare with a transfer, we save hundreds with minor inconvenience. Again, why would we trade valuable Wyndham points for a discount off of list price at a carrier like Delta which charges $ 20 or greater for each checked bag? The information we gleaned from the presentation is that the sales force treated as economically illiterate chumps.
The two-​on-​one with the salesman was worse.

Checked in with our long-​time friends to treat them to the Wyndham experience. As VIP Gold owners we’ve visited many properties over the years and wanted to share it. Big mistake. Where do we begin? The shuttle service is only available to those who sit through a sales pitch — never encountered this in more than a decade of ownership. No housekeeping available to us during our six day stay despite our unlimited housekeeping status with Wyndham. No hot water in the shower! While frustrating and disappointing, these aren’t the worst of it. The biggest issue was hearing the staff giving a litany of ridiculous excuses without once trying to help. What has happened to Wyndham?

Staff was amazing went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. I loved the location, we could walk just about anywhere we wanted to go. The refreshments in the lobby were great and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very knowledgeable as well! The concierge made exceptional reccomendations for things to do for us! Would definitely return.

The only way you will get to stay in this place is if you own a Wyndham Time Share which I did at the time, or someone who owns a Time Share allows you to stay there. I loved to stay in this place La Cascada as it is called…
Every single room whether it was a 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom, or 4 bedroom had its own balcony and a spa jacuzzi. The 4 bedroom had two master bedrooms and both had spa jacuzzis. The 4 bedrooms has a balcony in the master bedroom itself. The pool was located on the six floor and we used to hang out there as we were able to consume alcoholic beverages as long as you were discreet about it and wouldn’t get crazy doing it.
Each unit has a full kitchen along with a washer and dryer for your convenience. You can bring your own groceries so you can cook to alleviate some of the cost of being on the riverwalk.
Staff where very helpful day or night as I had the privilege of meeting a lot of the staff that worked there by first name basis and vice versa. I shall forever remember my stays there as they were always very comfortable and peaceful.

Didn’t even get to stay as we had hoped for. My husband and I had visited San Antonio last week and were walking the downtown area where the attractions are at and were stopped by a club Wyndham agent asking if we were over 24 and married. Know they were going to try to sell us something we went along to see what they were offering and we had met the criteria to what she had asked. She discussed with us about a vacation package for 3 days 2 nights which includes up to four season passes to seaworld for only $ 159 as long as we did a 120 minute tour of a new resort they were opening. My husband and I asked a few questions and wanted to think about it over night because it seemed like a good deal. We went back the next day to purchase the package and again asked the same set a questions just to make sure what we were getting into (the lady who spoke with us before wasn’t there so we spoke with another gentleman and another woman signed is up). They told me to expect the payment to go through two or three days after the purchase and about 10 days to reserve. Well today marked a week and a day and I still had not seen the payment go out of my account which concerned me. I talked with the reservations and the gentleman then told me that they had not processed the payment because they did not have verification that my husband was over 28. 28?! They told us 24, which my husband is about to be 25! I spoke with a supervisor afterwards and there was pretty much nothing they can do except apologize for the wrong information which THREE of their agents had dispensed to us. The more upsetting thing was that we were intending for this package to be used for our 1 year wedding anniversary next month. Now I will have to figure out with only less then two weeks till then on what we are going to do for our anniversary. no one had even called us about the age verification, so to me I felt that if there were an issue, we should’ve been informed the moment they had seen it occur. We will not be purchasing anymore Wyndham packages in the future regardless if we really do meet the criteria due to misleading information and distrust.

This place is close walking distance to the river walk. We were able to access all of downtown from this location even with my mother in law in a wheel chair due to knee problems. I have not been impressed with the Hotel as I have stayed in others with a better value. The beds were comfortable, rooms are spacious, more space than needed for only needing a place to sleep.
This is a resort, so to benefit from the free shuttle bus, you have to sit through an hour of their resorts sales pitch to get the free pass and breakfast. They keep touting no pressure sales but there is sure plenty of coaxing.
They have very expensive parking at $ 15.00 a day that resets at midnight. We got there at 9:00 p.m. and they told us we could park on the street for free because it was Sunday and we would have to move it off the street by 8:00 a.m. or feed the meter. But if I had checked the car in that night for three hours, I would have been charged the full $ 15.00 for three hours, plus another $ 15.00 the next day. They did not offer to tell me that if we were out all day, that we could park on the streets again after 6:00 p.m. for free until the following morning at 8:00 a.m. We chose to spend our days out and aboat and saved ourselves $ 45.00 in parking.
They have worlds slowest internet connection even though I have had a very strong signal. I even resorted to using my phone to access internet information as I found the connection way to slow.

Down in San Antonio for the first time when the folks at Penny Arcade hosted the inaugural PAX South. Of course, whenever there’s a convention, folks scramble up to the last minute for rooms. This led to a room share arrangement that I expected to be half-​a-​dozen people camped out in your average two-​bedroom setup. Oh no.
The tenth floor multi-​room suites are wonderfully laid out, with space aplenty for large parties, and lots of amenities (nice kitchens, baths, full dining areas, «living room», washer/​dryer, outlets in-​laid to the floors even), and extensive balconies to enjoy the view.
The individual rooms are a little bit different, some being larger with double «single» beds, others being smaller with king-​sized beds. The larger bedrooms had full baths for those desiring a spa soak, but there was also a shared bathroom with a «recumbent» shower for with removable shower head. (All I cared about was when I couldn’t get hot water in my shower, I got all the hot water I needed outta this one.)
While you expect your con hotel to be nothing but a flophouse, the Wyndham was a real delight, making socializing with new friends a big part of the event. They staff also really put up with us nerds just as well as they would any drunken revelers at any other time, and it was nice getting help with our cars, information on the city at all hours, and having security check in when doors were open suspiciously because we were moving things to and from the room. (But not in a harassing way.)
Overall, it was a very luxurious stay, that added to my vacation, rather than be an inconvenience or hassle, which is what some hotels, however large or successful, can be at times. You can’t always finagle the best, cheapest arrangement to stay in a place like this, but when you stumble into it, you want to take up the opportunity.
If you’ve got some business or other travel that might possibly land you at the Wyndham, give it a shot. It’s located at a good spot to downtown, and the staff are pretty great.

Great place to stay, we have stayed here every January for several years. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge and very accommodating in design. Great access to the riverwalk.

Wyndham La Cascada in downtown San Antonio has become our favorite place to take friends! The staff is outstanding! We are made to feel like family. The resort is beautifully maintained! Thanks to everyone at La Cascada for many wonderful visits over the past seven years.

This is a great resort.
The staff is very friendly and the resort is kept up in condition.
We got a deluxe 1br and even that was spacious including a full kitchen and even washer/​dryer.
The pool is on the 6^th floor with a great view of downtown.
If you plan to eat at the Chart House at the Tower of the Americas, make sure you go through the concierge and they’ll get you a VIP experience.

We had a nice stay here a few weekends ago. All of the staff were really friendly from the moment we set foot inside. The room was in great shape. Bed was comfortable. Pull out had nice fresh linens. Kitchen was stocked with everything one could need to entertain. The jetted bathtub was a nice touch. The room felt like a condo I would rent. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Only downside was the valet service. It was on the slow side, but it got the job done and they weren’t jags about my husband losing his valet ticket. If the valet service had been top notch, they would have earned five stars from me.

Perfect girls weekend getaway! Staff at front desk was super friendly. Nice granite counters and full kitchen in our 1bdrmsuite. Great view from our balcony. 6^th floor has roof top pool and hot tub. We hung out all Saturday afternoon at the pool and then got some hot tub time after walking over to Barribo on river walk for dinner. Definitely coming back to La Cascada!

We loved the rooms, two 2 BR suites, and the location could not have been better. It’s about two blocks from the hussle & bussle of the Riverwalk shopping area and well worth the walk for the quiet at night. They have a shuttle that has five stops, I believe, and runs all day or get out those walkin’ shoes and see the city. The two BR suites are HUGE and plenty of room for everyone. On the sixth floor there is a large pool, two kiddos pools, a cool off pool and a hotttub… all with a fantastic city view. Also on this floor is an open area for relaxing away from the pool area and an excellent dining area in the evening hours. Easy parking with the valet ($ 15 a day) and very limited on-​street parking. The Wyndham crew is great and they’ll help you guide the city like a pro. Just outside the front doors there is a deli, «Hippos», and offers a few items to fill your fridge the first night… little spendy. The Market is a great place to shop and get a great meal with a street vendor. Enjoy!

Pushy, way too expensive, never could get a straight forward answer for what I was asking, and when they finally came with the final price after asking for 3.5 hours it was like WTF??? Really. WOW ~
If you hear or see wyndham, take your ham and run into the blowing in wind away from this place I’ll just say that.

Staff is super helpful and facilities are nice. Location is a few blocks from the Riverwalk, Market and Commerce, etc. Valet parking is pretty sweet at 15/​day. Wireless throughout, I had no problems getting on and surfing. Kitchen, jacuzzi tubs, top floor pool and jacuzzi opening to the sky, very sweet. You can see the various state fair tower, Alamo dome, etc etc. Plasma TV (maybe LCD, but pretty sure plasma) in rooms and the fold out sleeper is even fairly comfortable. What really makes it nice is all the staff was very helpful, whether parking, helping with groceries, giving directions, blah blah blah.
Not sure if I’ll be back, but a great place and location.
