Tobin Lofts at San Antonio College

I lived in Tobin Lofts for one year and had a terrible experience. I tell everyone I know not to live there. It looks good from the outside, but they lied and the management isn’t professional or well trained. To start, we waited in line for one hour in the sun to get my key. When I reached the front of the line, they said they didn’t have my key ready yet. My roommate got her key, but it didn’t work so we had to wait for her key to get changed before we could even get into the apartment. While living there, our refrigerator broke. All the food went bad and they never fixed it. After two weeks of pestering, they finally gave us the model unit fridge. Then, the fire alarm went off at 2am. None of the management knew how to turn it off. I called the fire department and they said they couldn’t disable it. Only one person had the access key and they were asleep so I laid in bed while the alarm went off every 10 minutes for 4 hours.
There isn’t free wifi. You must pay for your own router and no one has a clue which one to buy or how to set it up. Also, you pay for the whole month of August even though you don’t live there the whole month, only 9 days. They say it’s for cleaning, but they don’t clean during that time. Many of the apartments are dirty when people move in.
The neighborhood is not safe and the parking garage is shared with the night club after 9pm. When I had a bug problem, I asked for them to come take care of it. The manager asked if I cleaned my room as if the bugs were my fault. When they did spray, the chemicals weren’t strong enough. I had to cover everything in plastic in preparation and had the maintenance guy disable the smoke detector. There is only one guy for the whole place to take care of any maintenance issues. The elevator is always out, most of the time both at the same time. Not an ideal situation when you have a handicapped person who can’t climb stairs. Every time I asked a manager, they blew me off and said it was out of their control to fix it.
The people working in the office are all community college students who are rude and not helpful. Whenever an issue came up, I would call the office and told only a manager could help me, who was conveniently never there. The manager must have a very long lunch break, come in late, and leave early because they never called me back.
When I tried to get my deposit back, they had sent it to my address at Tobin Lofts even though they knew I had moved out. Of course when I called, they said it was on it’s way to my new address, which they didn’t have even though I gave it to them at check out.

Do not live here. It is the most rude, incompetent group of employees i have ever seen. The first time they messed up our apartment, they accidentally messed up our move in date, 3 weeks before, and we ended up having to get the smaller apartment or pushing the move in date a month and a half away, because they basically double booked our apartment. We had this apartment secured for over 6 months. Then, when we called to ask what floor we were on (after thinking the drama was fixed) and they had no idea who i was. Only my fiancé was on signed up for an apartment, and they had him living on the student side alone. Claiming they had no record of me being on the lease. So again, they messed up, not only that, but this was FOUR DAYS before we were supposed to move in!!! THEN, to top it all off, they couldn’t fit us into the RIGHT apartment building because they had no more apartments available. So we were going to have to change the date for two months later. We finally had enough of the irresponsible, rude employees that we told them to return our deposit and forget it. The staff was rude, never returned calls, barely knew anything about their property, and do not care a single bit about the people potentially wanting to live here. They told us the money would be returned within 5 to 7 business days, and it took them 3 weeks, 4 phone calls, and asking for the corporate phone number before they ACTUALLY got up and did their jobs. We got the refund 3 weeks later. The only reason i gave them one star was because the corporate office employees are VERY nice. They were very helpful. Unless the corporate office gets new employees, Do yourself a favor and find another apartment complex. Anything is better than this place.

Staff is very friendly. My daughter has never lived on their own and they did a great job of making her comfortable. They took her to see the apartment twice and took their time answering her questions.

Do not live here. This is the worst place that I’ve ever lived. The maintainer staff does not get anything done in a timely manner whatsoever. The office staff does not know what they are doing. They are rude and the manager is never there in the office if there is something that needs to be talked about with him. He has also told me several things that he would do, but none of them have happened yet. And he said it back in September, it is now August. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone with the bug problems that I’ve had, and every other problem that I’ve had here. I have never been so unimpressed with an apartment complex before.
