Ladies & gentlemen — are you looking to make your man feel special? [Love is love, y’all!] Well, look no further! Christmas is right around the corner and if you haven’t yet found that one-​of-​a-​kind, unique gift that your man is sure to love, come on in and poke around. From clothes to shoe to grooming products to satchels to gin making kits… this store has all the «provisions for manly pursuits.»
These provisions unfortunately come with hefty price tags that maxxinistas like me would normally avoid. But *shrug*…it’s the holidays. $ 195 for a bow tie made of feathers isn’t too bad, right?
***Now if I get a job here… with my employee discount… that tie would be…****

I love this store! I could get lost in this store browsing through the items finding something spectacular for my boyfriend, dad, and brother. None of them are hipsters either. It’s a men’s specialty shop that carries a curated selection of accessories any man could use (hipster or not) from shoes, ties, tie bars, cuff links, watches, etc.
Yes your wallet may feel it if you are on a budget but craftsmanship is its hallmark. You could also get lost in the store without having to buy anything! (I did that twice already, but the third time I think it’s only fair I make the leap for a fine leather product)

This is a fantastically curated men’s shop, something that I think must be a true gem here in San Antonio. Every single item at the Sporting District feels like it was selected with care and love for its uniqueness and quality. Yes, you will likely spend a pretty penny if you’re shopping here, but whether it’s for yourself or someone else, whatever you purchase will be exquisite and something to be cherished for a lifetime. Everything from their t-​shirts to their feather bowties to their craft cocktail mixers exudes a personality and lifestyle that I think so many men would love to match. Can’t recommend this enough if you’re either looking to treat your manly self or looking to find something truly spectacular for the man in your life.

I love this store. Period. It reminds me of what a haberdashery looks like in London, coupled with the rugged looks of Texas. The place looks like it’s been there forever.
Please note, if your drink of choice is Busch or Natty light beer, this isn’t the place for you. The place suits a man 30+ who has refined their tastes, drinks bourbon, and listens to blues. A man who understands the finer things in life may cost more, but quality does not come cheaply.
Things to expect here: Locally made goods. Say no to poorly manufactured goods from overseas and support local manufacturers and artisans. Think hand forged steak turners, Damascus knives, hammered copper mugs, custom tailored belt buckles, and more.
I’ve never experienced anything other than friendly employees willing to help when shopping here, and I don’t know who enjoyed this store more — me or my boyfriend!

More hipster then real men’s fashion.
Too many bear wax options. Good set up, I really wanted to be a fan of this store.
San Antonio needs more good men’s stores but this one just didn’t do anything for me.

Such a manly store. I felt my testosterone levels surge when walking in here.
The place is clean and rustic. They sell a variety of manly supplies. Things like beard oils, aftershave, cuff links, boots, belts. They have a lot of leather in here, all of which seems to be well-​crafted.
There’s a big theme of whiskey here. They show half-​full bottles of rye under glass. They sell the accessories to go with it as well– flasks, mixing devices, and even a few books on mixology.
I thought the service was friendly, and alert. They answered my many questions about their wares, and they were really enthusiastic about their inventory, which was infectious!
The prices were on the high end. However, they have such a cool selection and quality handmade products, it justifies those prices.
It’s a great location, with a little yard in front of it, and an entrance to both sides of the shops at the Pearl. I recommend cutting through here if you’re on your way to the restaurants in the Pearl from the parking area.

I visited the store on a Friday afternoon and was genuinely disappointed. I was excited to see the Traveller brand outside of their East Austin location, and it’s pretty rare to find Best Made outside of NYC. But one thing that sets both of these brands apart are the fact that they fully understand that their high price demands a higher level of customer service — not the case at the sporting district.
I went out of my way to visit «The Sporting District» while spending the day in San Antonio. Walking in the store, I was very excited at first glance. But it all fell apart after that. Of the two salespeople working behind the counter, neither greeted me, but instead loudly discussed their weekend plans. I understand, it’s Friday, we’re all excited. But when the quality (and thus prices) is this high, the service has to rise above. In Austin, you can’t walk in to the Traveller shop to even buy a belt without them engaging you in a 30 minute conversation on chain stitching.
Suffice to say, I made a 10-​minute lap of the store and nobody said a word to me. In the end, I’ll gladly spend my money at Stag in Austin. Perhaps some of the salespeople should take a trip up there to see what kind of service the brands they carry require.
Side note: I also thought it was a little presumptuous that a good number of their leather goods were branded with «the sporting district» logo.

Awesome customer service. I cannot emphasize enough the care that they took for our purchase, shipping to our home so we wouldn’t have to drag it around on our travels. The selection was great, and I loved the emphasis on well crafted, sometimes locally sourced, items. Can’t wait to visit again.

Hooray — Yet another great store in the burgeoning Pearl Brewery area! A victory for men all over San Antonio!
The Sporting District is perfect for guys with simple style but who still want to rock it. They’ve got awesome jeans, a strong shoe selection and an array of leather goods and gadgets for the modern badass. I ended up buying a sweater and wore it out of the store, but I am definitely going back to grab some Christmas gifts for my buds.
The ambience is good too — a rustic vibe with exposed wood, and, in classic SA swag, comes across as effortless. The employees were very friendly and the brunette girl was super knowledgeable on the history of San Antonio! (Ask them about San Antonio’s old Sporting District — from which they derived the name.)

Nice selection of men’s clothing and accessories but you are too ‘hip’ for your own good. San Antonio now has its own skinny jeans clothing store but they need to put the attitude away. I went in there yesterday for the first time and was not impressed with the staff. The young brunette walked around the store with her nose in the air and a sense of superiority; she was not able to talk to customers that didn’t meet her satisfaction. The two other male employees (a.k.a. now known as lumbersexual) walked around the store making sure everything was in its right place but couldn’t seem to look up and ask if this customer needed any help or had a question to be answered. I came and went from the store without spending a dime; there were several items I would have purchased had I been helped. I guess it’s my lack of hipster appearance that shut me down. Or maybe I am just too old to be shopping there.
The staff should take a road trip to Austin and visit STAG on South Congress. I love that story; every time I go in there I feel welcome.

Not a bad place; great location, concept, and décor but poor execution. I came here on Small Business Saturday to see what I could find for gifts while still receiving my $ 10 off from AMEX. I agree with the review below about the young brunette employee but the male employee was very helpful.
Obviously their definition of ‘manly pursuits’ depends on the consumer but I think this place can learn a thing. or 10 from STAG in Austin or Dallas. Hell– they even give you a beer at STAG while you shop. I understand they are a new shop but the limited selection limits their customer base. Someone please tell the brunette to take a chill pill.

Great location. Really nice stuff for the rugged all American yet still trendy male. I did have to hold my breath the entire time because the smell was way too strong. My nose isn’t sophisticated enough to appreciate that quality of leather. Lol

Not a bad place, but could rate higher depending on your definition of «manly pursuits». I think this is the more «hipster» idea of «manly» (tshirts, scented beard wax, designer belts/​suspenders and ties, shoes and flask holders). Probably a good place if you frequently don skinny jeans, insist on organic/​free-​range foods yet smoke cigarettes, can afford to throw down $ 40 on a cotton tshirt and define «manly» more by appearance (ability to grow facial hair, consumption of designer microbrewed beer, ability to be ironic at a moments notice) rather than your abilities & actions, such as lifting heavy weights, doing things that involve getting your hands (and by proxy, your clothes dirty/​damaged), NOT doing things ironically (like wearing glasses for vision correction rather than for purely fashion), shopping for power tools and lawn care vehicles, wrestling bears or learning martial arts to use against bears, hunting with your bare hands (or a knife or a bow… guns, blinds and feeders are a little lazy), blacksmithing or gunsmithing or both, automotive/​motorcycle repair, becoming a Navy S.E.A.L., real camping (cabins and electricity need not apply), freestyle mountain climbing (no ropes or harnesses, you pansy), falconry and/​or large cat taming, et cetera.
In summation not a bad place, depends on your definition of «manly pursuits» is; does not meet mine.
