The Shops at La Cantera

I love the shops at La Cantera. They have everything that people need. My favorite is Sephora so far, but I also love Godiva and Hollister. And I’m totally in love with Dillard’s and mostly like with all of the shops. It’s location is also very good.

Love the shops here! The upkeep is lovely! You should shop here on nice days! It’s outdoor shopping. I wouldn’t come here on a rainy day

WOW ! This place is just beautiful ! I really like shopping and I was looking up malls in the San Antonio area. When I found this online, people said it feels like you are in another city so I had to check it out ! This is a very nice upscale shopping area, with stores like Burberry, Neiman Marcus, True Religion, and Tiffany and Co. It was drizzling when I visited so I had to stay under the covering in front of the stores which was very convenient! Lots of trees and sitting areas for those who need to rest because you can get kinda tired waking and shipping around this place. I was shocked at how big it was, lots of options for eating and shopping for all ages and genders. The workers in the more haute couture places (Burberry and Louis Vuitton were I visited) were really nice ! I sometimes here people say the workers in those type places are snobby but that wasn’t the case ! The lady in the Louis Vuitton part of Neiman was very attentive to me and was willing to help me find the right wallet !
Now surrounding the mall, you are able to live in these luxury apartments and even go to Six Flags Fiesta! Very upscale feel when you are in the area and this is a must visit when in San Antonio!

How have I not reviewed La Cantera yet??? This mall is straight up amazing. The architecture is beautiful and it’s obvious that the designers paid great attention to detail right down to labels identifying the plants! This is my favorite place to shop in San Antonio and I feel like they have a little bit of everything for everyone. Apple and Microsoft store? Check. Two story Urban Outfitters and ZARA? Check. Cheesecake Factory, Grimaldis? Check! Not to mention my favorite department stores: Macys and Nordstrom. I also like that throughout the year the mall has special events and decorates for different holidays. There always seems to be a new store or place to check out. Also, in my experience there is usually a parking spot available (it might not be super close, but you’ll find a spot). If you’re visiting San Antonio and looking for a shopping mecca, you’ve found it.

This is no ordinary mall! It’s an «outdoorsy mall» as in: your not fully protected from the weather, be cold, hot or rain. It is refreshing and healthier cuz your not stuck in the heat with tons of people during the holidays. This mall offers an extensive variety of upscale stores and a variety of trendy restaurants and bars. Prepare always for traffic Especially during the holidays! This is no bargain mall, but guaranteed you’ll always get the best elite experience! I really like that they have special jazz events that last all week and other cool events during the year. There is always something happening here! The only reason why I don’t give it 5 stars is because they used to turn on the mist along with all the fountains to keep us cool during summers and now they don’t consistently turn them on anymore. I definitely like the amount of security there is here though. Even when someone lights up their cigarette in the wrong place, they don’t hesitate to ask you to turn it out! Thank you for not smoking! Sorry, it’s Texas, it doesn’t matter who you are, they’re gonna ask you to turn it off your cigarette, even if you think your Leonardo Di Caprio, lol. Nothing against you Leo!

It is truly the best place to shop in San Antonio. When the Shops first opened, many people were deterred by the very expensive department stores (Hello Neimans) but that is no longer the case. They have an enormous and very well lit Forever 21 and even an H&M (which thankfully has less patrons now that the hubbub has died down). And they are constantly expanding. Seriously, if you want to find clothes, you have a lot of options here.
The Shops are so much more than clothing stores. There is a little playground for children and great outdoor seating for those wonderful boyfriends and husbands to wait and commiserate with one another. There are extensive dining options, from burgers to very elegant meals.
I’ve never had trouble finding parking and in general, I find the facilities to be very clean. Because it is outdoors, if the weather is bad, it can be annoying but there is cover pretty much everywhere you turn. And the weather in San Antonio is very conducive to an outdoor mall. And because it is outdoors, the designers did a really wonderful job with the landscaping. Landscaping at La Cantera is quite possibly my favorite feature of the entire place. I did research in a plant biology lab and I can tell you that the plants used here were very thoughtfully selected. Each one is special and many are native to Texas. The equisetum (basically a living fossil) and inland sea oats (they look like jewels) are my favorites. So, next time you are at La Cantera, take a careful look and appreciate the beauty of the native plants of Texas.

The best shopping in the San Antonio area. If you’re in the mood for anything as well as in the mood for some good food, la cantera is your place.
Avoid if it’s raining! It’s all outdoors and there’s no covered areas to hide.

I love outdoor malls, especially if the landscaping is extremely well done. There are a ton of stores in this area and I’m sure you’re bound to find at least one to enjoy. If you’re not much of a shopper, this is a great place to at least walk around and get a good workout at. The downfall is that parking is horrible and many people don’t know how to park their cars.

My two major complaints with La Cantera are around grounds maintenance. Have pride in your appearance and do your part to be a positive contribution to the environment. I walk around La Cantera just about every other day and the amount of trash on/​around the property is astonishing and it seems to be accumulating with no sign of anyone doing anything to clean it up. There’s a dead raccoon that’s been out there so long the smell of decomposition is sickening and I walk across the street just to not have to pass by it. Also, in the early mornings there’s many people that walk or jog out this way and it is WAY too dark. They should invest in MORE and BRIGHTER (LED) streetlights to better light this area. It would be equally as beneficial for them to trim the trees and bushes back to where they are not protruding over the walk ways.

Super swag, chill outdoor shopping center. My wife’s shopping mecca. We live in West Texas, and my wife & I end up spending alot of time here during our visits to San Antonio. It’s pretty tolerable from a male perspective due to the prescence of lots of shaded outdoor seating, several good restaurants (many with good Happy Hour specials), and a nice Barnes & Nobles bookstore. Plan on parking at the very back of the parking lot on the weekends…

This place is totally worth the drive from Austin. We don’t have shopping like this!

I’m only giving this 3 stars because although it’s beautiful and well kept, things are pricey and parking is a nightmare! I’m more of a bargain shopper, so these prices aren’t for me. If your looking for brand name and designer clothes, then this is the place for you! Or just want a girls day to go window shopping with friends, then this is your place. Only a few stores I buy from here.

I went here with my sister when i came to visit her to San antonio, Tx. It’s a beautiful outdoor mall (al aire libre) with lots of good stores (american apparel, charlotte russe, forever 21, H&M, Zara, VS, etc) and a good selection of places to eat (and drink). I went to Yardhouse, where i tried Delirium Tremens & shared an appetizer, and to Cheesecake Factory to eat dinner– this was my first time to both of these establishments. Overall, i had a great time and there is lots to do here. It was good quality time with my sis and i am definitely coming back next time i travel to San Antonio to visit her.

I enjoy this mall. It’s not an indoor mall like a lot of the other malls that you’ve been to. It’s outdoor, with a lot of limestone around. It’s beautifully landscaped, and has lots of great stores in here.
The only thing that I don’t care for is the amount of parking. No matter when you come here, it seems like there never is enough parking.
There is an interesting selection of shops here from electronics to hair supplies to clothes. It’s anchored by some major brands that I’m sure you’ve heard of.
It’s kind of a pain finding out where to go around there. Yea, there’s kiosks with maps, but there should be better signage in the parking lot to let you know what stores are nearby.
Just be sure to check the weather before you go, as it’s not the most enjoyable place to hang out if it’s raining.

Between North Star and La Cantera, I will pick the latter any day. Yea even any day in the rain or 100 degree weather!
I like outdoor malls in general and have shopped at many across the country. I know this isn’t the Grove in LA but for SA it is the best you can get. The outdoor space is beautiful with lots of places to sit and there are actually a decent variety of stores to shop at. And believe it or not you see nicely dressed ppl here. Very rare in this town!
Overall, I think it’s better than the Domain in Austin. Well, that’s just me. SA needs more places like the La Cantera. But then again it wouldn’t be SA. Shrugs.

SA’s first outdoor mall anchored by upscale stores with a few high end boutiques stuck in for good measure. I don’t come here frequently because traffic and parking are horrendous but some of the stores don’t have any other locations.
Easily big enough to spend half a day here browsing even if you don’t have a specific shopping need. I like how there’s a good mix of nicer restaurants and the food court. Despite some people whining about how TX only has hot weather and rainy weather, 90% of the year you can shop here without any issues whatsoever.
Landscaping is great but unless you come here frequently, the place can seem like a maze– definitely remember to retrace your steps back to your car exactly!

While I love North Star Mall and the San Marcos Outlets, The Shops at La Cantera has won the Top Spot in My Heart and my Shopping Destinations. While I don’t typically enjoy outside shopping, because of the extreme TX heat, the covered pathways provided a lot of shade on yesterday’s 100 degree scorcher. Now when the winter hits that might be another story but Hey I’m In TX and we don’t have long winters.
Since it was my first visit, I did a quick walk through and window shopped in my favorites to include: Express, Aldo, Williams and Sonoma, Pottery Barn, BCBG, Black and White, Sephora, Neiman Marcus and the list goes on. The location boasts the Biggest Barnes and Noble I’ve ever seen and several cute little restaurants that I can’t wait to try. I’ll be returning and can’t wait to see the Christmas Decorations this Winter.
I LOVE San Antonio!

It’s outside, so if it rains you’re screwed. And it’s rained both times I’ve gone.
But let’s be truthful, the only reason I go here is cause it has a Hot Topic.
Be careful leaving at night because you’re gonna get stuck in traffic leaving from Six Flags.
Even though the Directory and MAP says there is an Alamo Drafthouse here, that is not true. I drove around the entire area looking for it before I realized. There is no movie theater here; very disappointing. Most of the stores are extremely pricey and high fashion, so I don’t really shop at La Cantera. If you like fancy things and high priced shoes and fashion and what-​not, you’ll probably like La Cantera.
I’ve also noticed a lot of unattended teenagers hang out here. Not sure why; or if they just hang out while their parents go shopping, or if they are here cause the summer is on-​going. Sorta weird.
The food choices here are going to be pretty pricey as well.

When I say I lived in SA for a few years, what I really mean is I lived at La Cantera! this was definitely my go to mall. Living in DFW I miss having Zara, J Crew, and a few other shops all located in one nice, cool outdoor mall to stroll around. If you aren’t from Texas/​used to the heat, you probably won’t like La Cantera & should give North Star a try. They have fans & seating areas but in the Texas heat, it’s def not for the weak.
The addition of some nicer restaurants in the last few months was great!
Biggest downside: parking. Valet is available but can be pricey if you’re just looking to quickly go in/​out of one store & don’t want to drive around forever looking for a close parking spot.

Outdoor malls are my jam and you can find me dancing around this one when I’m back in SA visiting my parental units.
Frankly, the mall is massive with long spidery legs of different shops around. Be prepared to walk… a lot. Once I found my bearings the first couple trips, I got my go-​to circuit down and it goes like this:
Park at Nordstrom’s — But, don’t steal my always lucky spot.
Parooze the Nordy’s shoes — it’s like being in the Louvre.
Grab a coffe at the E-​bar.
Walk outside to Anthro — one of the best sale racks I’ve seen!
Aveda — it smells so good and they have complimentary tea!
Godiva — you don’t have to eat the chocolate right away…
