The Motorcycle School

I just finished taking the Basic Riders Course from the Motorcycle School. I was brand new to riding a motorcycle, but they taught us step by step. It was so fun! Robert was our instructor. He was very helpful, encouraging and explained everything. I highly reccomend The Motorcycle School — you will enjoy it.

I’d be careful of these guys. I was asked to move my vehicle from an unmarked spot because I was attending a birthday party at thin air. I asked a simple question of where the signs to signify they own those spots. He said they are coming & stated they’ve been there for 10years… & called me an «asshole“for wasting his time. He threatened to soak the inside of my vehicle with water. I told him both are uncalled for & what if he wasn’t there to ask me? Would he have been vindictive for no reason?
I asked him to grow up I’ll move so he doesn’t cry anymore. Skip this place… Go to Harley where I went, they at least treat people nicely. PS Seems like there has been a LOT of time to acquire those signs buddy… Just saying!

Initially I was hesitant to take my brc here because of the poor reviews. If you actually read the reviews you will see that those who failed the course would be hazards out on the road. If you can’t handle basic motorcycle/​scooter operation you will not pass. You can either complain about it or thank them for not passing you and possible saving your/​someone else’s life. I thought the class was great. Not a bunch of boring videos or lectures like I thought it would be. Lots of hands on training. Don’t be afraid to go here for your brc unless you are have a learning disability or don’t want to learn. I will be back for the advanced class next year. Thanks motorcycle school.

The facility is about on par with most other vehicle driving schools. It is clean for the most part. I saw a review on G+ about roaches and it being filthy, but this was not the case at all when I went just a few days ago. The classroom is inside the Bodacious Bikes store. Naturally, they give you a tour of the store and show you all they have to sell you. They do have a fridge with some drinks and snacks so if you get hungry you can purchase something to snack on. They do not have a water fountain, so bring a water bottle with you to drink from if you don’t want to buy a Gatorade or something from them. When you go out out to the range to ride, they will supply a 5 gallon jug of ice water to keep you hydrated.
The range is in the parking lot of Graham Central Station. The entire parking lot is divided into 2 halves. Group 1 used the half closest to the school; Group 2 used the half closest to the Humane Society. The paint used to mark the scenarios is faded and hard to see at times, especially if the sun is in your eyes, but if you’re wearing polarized sunglasses you should be fine.
The weekend classes are from 9am-​6pm. There are about 4 hours of classroom discussion and videos and 4 hours of riding. Our class had about 16 people divided up into 2 groups. We had 2 Rider Coaches teaching the classroom material and teaching us on the ranges. I can only remember Keith’s name as he was the Rider Coach for my group. The other guy was an older fellow with hair down to his shoulders, and a mustache — very soft spoken, I liked him a lot. Both Rider Coaches are very knowledgeable and experienced (over 20+ years riding experience).
With that said, I can only critique Keith’s teaching/​coaching style and personality. Again, he is very knowledgeable and insightful, however, he lets his frustration show and often rudely calls out others in front of everyone else. Maybe he calls them out so everyone else has a chance to learn from their mistake, I don’t know. But some people complained amongst each other about how embarrassing and uncomfortable he can make them feel when he puts them on the spot like that. He’s friendly if you’re catching on quickly, but not so friendly when you’re not catching on quick. He’s also not too helpful in telling you why what you’re doing isn’t working (IE: why you’re losing your balance inside the U-​Turn box). He will tell you what you’re supposed to do, but he won’t tell you what you’re doing wrong that’s making you lose your balance. I can understand being frustrated when working with new people when you’re a professional, but he needs to work more on his professionalism and remember that he’s working with people that have never touched a motorcycle before.
Out of my class of 16, 2 people were booted on the first day because they weren’t catching on as quickly as everyone else; 1 was booted on the 2^nd day during riding practice (after he passed the written exam) due to heat exhaustion. These 3 individuals were kicked out DURING INSTRUCTION. They weren’t kicked out from failing any kind of test or exam. They were kicked out while LEARNING. From what myself and the remaining class members understood, they will not be getting refunded. This is incredibly terrible practice and very sleazy. Every one paid the school $ 200 to learn how to ride and familiarize themselves with a motorcycle. As such, it should be expected that the people taking the course will have zero experience. Learning about motorcycles can be like learning to drive all over again for many people. Brand new concepts, rules, techniques, and procedures. It’s a lot to take in only 2 days.
If a student isn’t doing well during the instruction phase, you don’t kick them out and give up on them and still keep their $ 200. The instructors failed them, then robbed them. Instead, they should have let the failing students finish practicing with the class, but also keep the students during lunch and after class to continue to coach them individually until they master what they paid $ 200 to master. If they fail the actual riding test portion after all other options have been exhausted, then sure, keep the money. But the time spent before the test is learning and practice. Failing someone during the learning phase is straight up terrible. One could argue that it’s a safety issue, but the instructors should let the final test determine how much a safety hazard the students are. After all, that’s exactly why the test exists in the first place.
I passed with flying colors though because I caught on pretty quickly, so the class was sufficient for me. However, I would not recommend others to go to this school.

Had to leave class 1^st day at 11 am or get fired. We signed up for Mon-​Tue class and paid full, but got called from the job, it was go or get fired.
All I want to do is resume and finish class, but this place will not let, me finish unless I pay another $ 125!
This website doesn’t address if a student HAS to leave during the class (family emergency, death, etc.). In this case I either went back to work or get fired and never requested a refund, just let me finish the the class.

My boyf signed the both of us up for the weekend motorcycle class prior to purchasing our own bike.
He’s ridden before but I was a complete and utter novice. We took the 2-​day weekend course. The start time is early so get your rest!
The class had 16 people divided into two groups. The two instructors were great! Our group teacher, Kim, was a smart-​ass — but I enjoy that! The teachers are informative and fun. Kim (god bless him) was extremely patient with me.
The class is about 4 hours of classroom instruction and the rest is actual riding. The riding course is in the big parking lot in front of Graham Central Station.
The people taking the course is a grab bag: novices, traffic citations, experienced, etc.
My only minor complaint is that I would’ve liked more time to practice certain exercises… but that’s only because I’m totally new to riding. I passed with flying colors and had a great time learning!
Some of the motorcycles were banged up but all of them worked just fine.
I knew I was going to enjoy the class but I didn’t realize how much fun I would actually have! If you’re planning on getting a bike, take this class, it might just save your life!
