Tango of the Vines

Don’t remember how I found out about this event, but it’s a fundraiser for the AFE (amniotic fluid embolism) Foundation. But I’m so glad I did and in time to purchase VIP tickets.
This was the third year and it was held at the beautiful Lambermont Estates. The weather was perfect.
Everyone got to enjoy some samples of amazing wines from Texas, who knew right? Along with beers, cocktails, and some Deep Eddy Vodka.
There were so many wonderful tastings from so many restaurants from SA, too many to name.
But I do remember FOLC, Acenar, Urban Taco, and Southerleigh.
Inside the beautiful Lambermont castle, they were serving all the wine, there was a DJ playing music, and he was kindly taking music request. Outside is where all the food was.
Also there was a silent auction. A live band, games such as «mini» bowling. This event was amazing. I had a blast. Can’t wait for next year’s event.

I enjoyed myself so very much. I loved everything about the evening. The location, Lambermont Castle, provided the perfect setting.
The event featured tastings of a very nice variety of Texas Hill wines, tasty craft beers and cocktails, and tasty bits from 17 local restaurants. There was also a band live, casino fun and a silent auction. One vendor was showing off some games you can have brought to your party. I got my butt kicked in bowling but it was so much fun.
The event was so well run and organized and for a worthwhile organization. I hope next year the event is in this venue too.

A night wonderfully spent for an excellent cause. Samples of Prime rib, Shrimp Paisano, Short rib tacos, wine, locals beers, music, bar mixology, and wonderful, tango dancing not to mention the outdoor games and the casino night… much more. A night well spent. I think it was 100 $ a ticket. VIP. But it goes to a great cause and its well worth it. I’m going next year .I had too much fun!

Yen and Michelle pulled off a smashing event for the AFE Foundation. The attendees were fun and generous, the food was great, and the cocktails were fun.
The Witte is a great venue for this gorgeous event. The fall evening was the right temperature and everyone seemed to have a great time. I really enjoyed being part of this one, and getting to meet so many new Unilocalers.
Can’t wait for next year’s event!

This was a fantastic event, filled with lots of food and wine, all for a great cause. I should have taken notes on all the awesome food, because some of it was really amazing. The moscato sherbet was splendid! The potstickers to die for! Shrimp tacos, brisket, desserts all delicious!
The really cool part was that it wasn’t over crowded, things just flowed and it was lots of fun! An awesome representation from Texas wineries to sample from, and Deep Eddy vodka. Looking forward to doing this again!

Under the twinkling lights in the serene courtyard of the Witte Museum, hundreds of San Antonio foodies gathered to eat, drink, and be merry for a good cause. I had no idea the river ran through the Witte’s backyard — how clueless of me, but it makes for quite a picturesque event backdrop.
For $ 50 ($ 75 for VIP), you can sip and sample some of Texas’ best vineyards. I was really impressed with how well represented Hill Country Vineyards were at this event. There had to have been at least 10 wineries present to pour and discuss their goods! In addition to wine, local cocktail bar TBA hosted the VIP lounge with some boozy concoctions, and Pedernales had a craft beer available, that was actually really tasty!
I’m with Angela F, I think my favorite culinary delight of the night had to be the the jicama shrimp tacos from Acenar. I’ve always loved their shrimp tacos, but had no idea what a difference wrapping them in jicama could make! Between them, piping hot Dos XX barbacoa from Urban Taco, juicy lemon shrimp from Page Barteau Catering, thick and hearty gumbo from The Friendly Spot, the moist and peppery brisket from CBQ Eatery, and that divine tiramisu dessert, my eyes were much bigger than my stomach and the bang was definitely worth the buck!
This was only the first year, and I’m sure it will only get bigger and better in coming years!

What a fantastic event in a great venue with an even greater cause!
From a casino to a lovely outdoor patio to the Unilocal Locals Lounge… plenty of fun folks & fun atmospheres.
Thank you, Acenar, for the best food of the night — a phenomenal shrimp taco «tortilla-​d» with jicama so it’s «guilt free» (unless you eat 4, like I did!). The SA Food Bank provided my 2^nd fav eat… a gourmet grilled cheese w/​poblano, yum! Also present & serving good food was Zedric’s, Los Barrios, True Flavor, Bright Shawl, Barriba Cantina, etc.
Texas wineries representin’!!! Singing Water, Fiesta Wineries, etc. the best in my opinion was Fall Creek’s Tempranillo.
Unilocal Locals Lounge was awesome, as usual. Gloria C & Roy Q takin’ care of bidness & the generous & wonderful Deep Eddy vodka kept it flowin’!
