Donnie and Karis are amazing! We adopted a very stubborn and might I say «asshole» of a doberman now named Apollo. We are Labrador people so working with Apollo has been a learning experience. Donnie and Karis taught us how to work with Apollo to help make him successful in our house and keep my saint of a husband sane. (He told me not to bring home any more dogs).
I highly recommend them. They work with you on payments and have lots of options for training sessions.

Donnie and the rest of the crew with Sit Means Sit San Antonio has been very helpful. The puppy training was great reinforcement for my puppy weimaraner. I signed up for the intermediate classes right away and the 3 private lessons helped me out with very useful tips and answered all of my questions. I am excited to continue to train my puppy knowing the proper techniques. He is already almost walking at a perfect heel at 6 months old even when we visited the farmer’s market with lots of babies and other puppies around. The classes add up to $ 10.00 or so per class considering the intermediate training cost $ 1000 but allows you to go to a full year of classes 2 to 3 times per week and 3 or more private classes depending on how many your dog needs and if you’re displaying effort in training your dog.

Donnie has been a great trainer for both our dog Bella and for two novice owners just trying to understand the training ourselves.
Bella is our Australian Cattle dog that we rescued from the Shelter about a year ago. She is incredibly smart but had some issues with walking on a leash around other dogs. By working with Donnie and a week of board and train, we have noticed a significant improvement in Bella’s ability to follow commands and improve on her walking and general responsiveness. Additionally, Donnie was very patient in training both of us to understand what Bella was trying to do and also in working with us so that our twins understood what Bella was trying to do and to help Bella understand where she stands within our family pack.
You can tell instantly that Donnie loves what he does and it carries over into the care and responsiveness in his training. We are continuing to work with Sit means Sit and training Bella. We are pleased with the results and would recommend both Donnie and Sit Means Sit to anyone who owns a dog.

Donnie is the bomb dot edu with dog training. You can tell he’s a total dog person on top of being patient with both people and canines. We felt certain that our dog was in good hands with him with the board-​and-​train, and the follow-​ups have been extremely helpful. When we adopted our dog, she had terrible nervous habits, no manners, and a stubborn streak a mile wide. Very sweet, though. When she came back, she had much better confidence, AND now we understand better how to work with her in order to become a cohesive family. It’s been awesome. Thank you!

We contacted Sit Means Sit after being at our wits end with our Great Dane Maizey. She was bat crazy! We scheduled a demo with them and was impressed but skeptical… we opted to do the board and train as we both work long hours and Maizey needed lots of attention to get her behavior under control. It’s not cheap, but Maizey deserved to be a part of our family and not just stuck in a kennel, so we gave it a shot. We chose to have Donnie train her as having met him at the demo we thought he would be successful with her. When we dropped her off he asked us what our expectations of her training were, basically what we wanted to accomplish. He was honest about what he thought he could accomplish with her. During the two weeks we received videos and updates on her progress. Wow! The first video we were blown away! When it was time to pick her up it was a little different story. She was highly distracted by our presence. If you use this service DO NOT LET THIS DISSAPOINT YOU! Once we got home Maizey finally got to be a part of our family. She was well behaved enough to be walked everyday, enjoy evenings outside with us, and just be a normal dog in our household. We have had our first lesson and Donnie says we are doing well. Training is on going and we are committed for our dog because she deserves it. We can’t say enough about Donnie and everyone at SIT MEANS SIT. They loved our girl and were awesome! Thank you thank you thank you! My six year old walked our 70 pound Great Dane for the first time if that tells you anything!

Our trainer Donnie has been amazing! Before we started working with Sit Means Sit, my puppy Buster had no manners, tore up our brand new fence, played too aggressively with our senior dog, destroyed anything he could get his mouth on & rarely listened to any commands. After just a few sessions Buster is listening, hasn’t messed with the fence, is dramatically less aggressive with our other dog (they actually play together now), doesn’t destroy as much (still a work in progress) & listens to every command my son & I give him. He’s so much more fun to have in our house now! Thank you so much Donnie & Sit Means Sit!

Our dog would go wild when door bell rang and would jump on guest when entering house. Thanks to San Antonio Sit means Sit training program, we just tell him to relax and he goes to his spot until we release him. Taking him for walks was a chore also and now we can actually take him walking off leash. Karis, Victoria and Donnie are the best. They show you how to train the dog, they are very patient and always answer all our questions.

This is EXACTLY the type of training our pup Zoey needs, and let’s be honest here, me and my husband too! We’ve learned so much already and there is still more to go! Every day we get super excited over the progress Zoey makes. If you’ve got a dog that is high energy, finds it hard to focus, gets distracted easily, won’t listen to you, this is THE training for you. We’ve done other training in the past and while that was great around low distractions, or when you’re on your own. (Sure your dog is more apt to listening to you.) But Sit Means Sit guides you and your dog through multiple scenarios of high distractions, higher distractions, what it means to properly socialize your dog, REAL LIFE scenarios, the list goes on. Even after private lessons (which we had the pleasure of both Victoria and Donnie as trainers) we’ve transitioned into group scenarios and we still feel like we are getting a personalized approach. Victoria and Donnie have been extremely helpful, patient, and amazing. Oh and did I tell you about the email support? Got a question? Email it over! You don’t have to wait until your next lesson. Service when you want it. Crazy premise, I know. All in all, the perfect training for our high energy but terribly lovable fur baby! THANK YOU!

So amazing! I walked in to SMS desperate for help for my out of control dogs. They would run away, bark constantly, pull on the leash, act aggressive to other dogs and never listen. I was so embarrassed, but the trainers were not phased.
These guy’s training program is worth every moment and every penny spent. We have never been happier. We go to dog parks, they go to the store with me, I can have a friend watch them if I’m out of town. It is so easy now.
And most of all, THEY ARE HAPPY! I am able to give them freedom because I know they will come back when called and I can keep them safe. I am showered with kisses when we leave class because they are so happy.
I cannot say enough good things about Sit Means Sit. They gave me my happy dogs and my sanity back. No regrets.

I was excited to have Sit Means Sit come out to my home to train my new puppy with a home visit that cost $ 100.00. What I got was a puppy training pamphlet, puppy treats and a leash. No training involved. The next step was to spend hundreds of $$$$ to get them trained. I understand that it isn’t cheap to get dogs trained. But when I call to see what’s covered for $ 100 before I decide to make appt. I was told that I’d just need one training. That was a different story once so done came out. This was a waste of my money.

The trainers at Sit Means Sit have truly changed life for the better for my dog Zoe and I. Zoe had some bad experiences in her past and is afraid of a lot of things, including strange animals. Her fear slowly turned into defensive aggression, and became frustrating and even scary at times. I was way out of my league and unable to control my own dog. After looking at different dog training programs, I had a consult with Krystal. I knew right away that the board and train was what Zoe really needed. Zoe has been back at home with me for a lithe over a month and I can honestly say that I now feel much more in control and comfortable with her. She listens to me, and I can see her becoming more comfortable with situations that used to set her off into crazy. Now she can be in a room full of other dogs and be totally relaxed. I am so glad I found Sit Means Sit. We’ve still got some work to do, but the group classes are awesome and Zoe and I will be attending and learning together. Karis is outstanding as a trainer, both for me (who really needed the most training) and for my wife’s and my two dogs. We just improved our home life for the next 15+ years because we will be living with 2 much-​more pleasant and cooperative dogs. Thank you, Karis.

We contacted Sit Means Sit after our dog, Reagan, showed seriously, controllable anxiety and fear based aggression. They have truly been lifesavers. Over the last two years working with the trainers at Sit Means Sit, Reagan has grown into a much more confident and approachable dog, and they have helped us more than anything gain control over him and our lives. When Reagan is working with them they are understanding, caring and devote time to making sure we are working to help improve his interactions with the world around him. Reagan has grown from a dog who reacts to everything into a dog whom people can approach and who has calmed down significantly around other dogs. In addition to training, Reagan stays with the trainers whenever we go out of town. It is so reassuring to know he is with people who know, love and respect him for who he is while we are gone. He continues to get training and learns every time we leave him with them.
Reagan adores his trainers at Sit Means Sit, and we in turn are so very thankful to them. They have given him and us a new lease on life, we couldn’t have asked for better trainers when we found Krystal and Troy. We can’t thank them enough, for helping us and Reagan. Sit Means Sit has changed our lives, and if it wasn’t for them and all the services they provide we do not know where we would be, or if we would be able to have Reagan out and about as much as we do. We truly love Sit Means Sit and will remain loyal customers for life.

We have two pooches. Our nearly 2-​year-​old Dalmatian «Oliver» is a loving affectionate bully. Strong willed and single minded. Loves to play. Our other is a 3-​year-​old lab mix «Raymond»: anxious, skittish, easily aroused. Both love to play and bark. Before Sit Means Sit, we had tried Gentle Leader leashes, facial leashes, and a couple of books. None worked for more than a week or two. The results from SMS were obvious and rather quick. Within days, we had dogs that were happy but more compliant, obedient, and cooperative. Krystal and Karis initially recommended a two-​week board-​and-​train with Oliver. However, my wife stuck with the curriculum and one week later he had improved significantly. We are now six weeks into the curriculum and can walk our dogs in the neighborhood or local parks with slack in the leash, wagging tails, and them paying little attention to little kids or other dogs. Please note that this is quite expensive and not a small undertaking. My wife is a homemaker and has dedicated the better part of her life to training our dogs since starting SMS. Your results will not be as good if you only train them for one or two hours per day. It is labor intensive. But in the end, it’s like having kids. You get out what you put in. This is a humane and effective training program. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED but only if you’re willing to put forth the effort.

My husband and I can’t thank Krystal with Sit Means Sit dog training enough. We adopted a sweet border collie mix from the humane society but she needed help with manners and obedience. We did a week board and train with Sit Means Sit while we were out of town and we came back to a dog who listened! Before Mollie’s training, if the front door open she would bolt and run down the street with us chasing behind her. Now, we can walk Mollie without a leash after one week of training! She behaves better around our cats and does not bark at every noise she hears outside. Sit Means Sit has helped make our house a more peaceful one since we are not constantly scolding Mollie. I fostered Kazi from ACS back in July, although he is very sweet, but because he was a street dog, he wasn’t easy to walk (he pulls me), he wasn’t easy around other dogs and very destructive. I never had a pet before so I don’t have the experience to make him adoptable. So I decided to look for a training place to train him and teach me.
Sit means Sit (SMS) had the highest review on Unilocal and of course, nothing but the best for Kazi. After the initial call, the lady asked me few times if I’m ok with the fee since it is higher than most other places and Kazi is a foster, I do appreciate that concerns though.
I had 5 private sessions with Krystal (I’m hoping to attend the group sessions soon), and she KNOWS her stuff. I learned a lot from her. Kazi went from peeing on the floor and whining around Devin (Krystal’s dog) on our first meeting a month ago, to be able to run with Kazi in the park last week, that was a HUGE improvement.
Now, of course, don’t expect SMS to have the magic stick and make your dog behave overnight, it takes a lot of work and Kazi still have a lot of work to do, as am I.
I highly recommend SMS to any of the dog owner. They are expensive compare to others, but the trainers know they stuff and it worth every penny.

I cannot thank this company enough. Karis (trainer) has helped so much in helping us rehab our staffie-​mix. Our baby was extremely scared of people other than the family. She is a rescue that we adopted and did not have the confidence to be the dog she can be. This is not out first dog or our first rescue. I currently faster rescue and we have two other dogs that are ours. We are experienced dog owners but sometimes when you have a case of a dog whose behavioral problems out weighs your experience then you have to do right by your dog. Giving up our rescue IS NOT an option, we did what we could and then researched this company. I liked that it is pretty much a lifetime membership with a one time payment. Yes it is expensive but we are doing what responsible dog owners should do. If you are not prepared to sacrifice time and sometimes money for your pet then you shouldn’t own one. You owe it to your pet to do right by them. They determined her problem, did a two week intensive training and then followed up by owner training. We continue to go to the classes even though she doesn’t necessarily need it but more to keep her used to being around other dogs, stimulation and situations. That is the great thing about this training, you can do as little or as much as you want for however long you want. They also showed us how to properly use a shock collar, now I know what you may think but there is a proper way to use it and it is not necessary for every dog, but if you have a dog that gets so fixated that they will injure themselves then it maybe an option. Used properly the collar will provide a stimulant that will snap them out of that fixation and have them pay attention to you. It is NEVER used as a punishment and should not be. When we do our training, we put the collar on her and she immediately goes into «Work Mode» it is great because when we are done she relaxes and is actually worn out because the collar reminds her that she needs to concentrate on paying attention to command. Before training we used run her twice a day, morning and evening, to wear her out but she would still have so much energy that she became destructive to our poor sprinkler heads and fence. She has actually torn off fencing posts off of our 6ft fence. We still put the collar on her these days but rarely use it, which is awesome because we now have a well behaved dog. This is so important when you have a breed that tends to get a bad wrap to begin with. We can go out with her without having fear that she will possibly nip, or worse, bite someone out of nothing more than fear. This is one less dog in a shelter. This program is amazing and will from now on be where we go to when we get a new rescue from the beginning to ensure that we get a family member that we can take anywhere. I can’t thank this group enough.

Krystal completed a 7 day board and train program for our dog while we were traveling. We came home to a happy dog and remarkably improved behavior. Our dog is quite a challenging case, presenting both aggression and fear issues. He gained significant confidence during his time with Krystal and improved on all of the skills that we asked Krystal to cover during training. This service was well worth the fee and it felt great to know that our dog was spending the days on challenging activities rather than bored in a kennel.

I am so excited! Goozie walked on the leash, eliminated while on leash and even walked up and down our 3 flights of stairs! He could do none of that 2 weeks ago! THANK YOU and this is just the start! The next morning — I took Goozie to a preschool. I was a little anxiety ridden but not Goozie. He couldn’t have been better. He sat when I told him to sit. He stayed by my left side. The 18 kids were a distraction but he stayed!
Krystal is absolutely AMAZING! In the 2 weeks my Goozie stayed with her for board and train he learned SO MUCH! He listens, follows commands and is the best behaved pooch I’ve ever had! Krystal is so kind and loving and helpful too! Sit Means Sit is the BEST if you have a dog you need Krystal!
