Quickie Lockout & Roadside Service

I work downtown, 3 — 11 shift. Locked my keys in the car. Pop a Lock wanted $ 49.95 with an arrival in 40+ minutes. The security guards at the parking garage had business cards for Quickie. Gave them a call, no one answered. Called back later, the «operator» quoted me $ 15 service call charge with services starting at $ 25. Alrighty then, 10 bucks less than pop a lock! She said the technician would call me right back. Did I mention the «operator» was holding a crying newborn baby? Should have been my first clue. The technician calls and says he’ll be there in 15 — 20 minutes.
45 minutes later this guy arrives in an unmarked car, no uniform of any kind. He looks at my 1992 ford Taurus, goes back to his van to write a quote. This hack wants $ 135 to unlock my car !!! I tell him no way, I’ll just call pop a lock. He trash talks their services. Then assaults me with «how much can you pay» over and over. I figure I’ll have to pay him $ 15 for the service call plus $ 49.95 to pop a lock so after calling in to ask for permission he accepts $ 60.
Of course it takes him 45 seconds to actually unlock the door. Then he tells me if I send him business he will unlock my car again for 20 bucks. But before he leaves he asks to see my license and insurance. Whaaatt ?!?
Run, don’t walk, away from this dishonest fly by night company.
