Back in July, with great anticipation, I jumped in my car and set off to meet my new best friend. It had been a few months of planning and preparation for this day. But with treats in hand I was headed to pick up my new Australian Cattle Dog who I named Florence, after my favorite band, Florence + The Machine. I had read several books, watched videos on youtube, and even attended a puppy class in advance. But nothing could prepare me for the small, soft puppy who brought a big, sassy personality with her. I was in love. We currently attend agility sessions twice a week, puppy classes once a week, in home training twice a week, on top of the several sessions I complete with her each day. It’s a lot of work and results don’t happen over night. But what’s important is that we have fun together. Being raised with dogs all my life, I never realized the passion I had for animals until I had one of my own. It’s been an unbelievable experience.
