Oh Momaks. You’ve got a great set-up. Shady place for a family/group to sit outside on a nice day. Activities for the kids and beer for adults. Even pretty decent food. So why oh why aren’t you prepared to feed the masses who come to let the children run wild in exchange for a few minutes of peace? Yes, the first Saturday of March in San Antonio can range from 35 – 75 degrees, but it’s not like this beautiful day just cropped up and people came out of the woodworks! There were reserved signs EVERYWHERE! You should have been WAY better prepared. Almost always one cashier taking orders meant people stood in line for more than 10 minutes! And then they’re greeted with the news that their food will take 35 minutes or more. As I stand in line for another beer to pass what feels like WAY longer than a 35 minute wait(get a drinks only line please! I’ve been here for 8 minutes for a beer!), I’m so remorseful that we chose to come here on what could’ve been a relaxing Saturday. I’m done Momaks. I’ve waited you out. I’m done

Took my daughter for what I thought would be a great lunch… however the temperment of the employees proved to be the topic of my visit. Sitting next to the pick up a customer clearly upset with their order became unruly with the staff. It’s here that the staff should have controlled themselves… instead a stream of expletives is what my 6 year old gets to hear. If your staff cannot control their own emotional well being in front of children how do you expect to be a place for kids? I don’t care how unruly the customer is there is no place for foul language in ear shot of children. Disappointed in this establishment and I doubt I’m the only one. Let me also point out. Almost every table was dirty and I watched my food walk around the restaurant before the kid gave up and to it back. What is the number for if they cannot read it? It was clearly placed for them to see. Cold food and foul language what a great place for kids huh?

Never been to this place happen to be around the area, so I wanted a burger. When u enter the menu is on the side of a board. The cashier was not nice at all, I kinda felt bad for her to be in such a job that u feel miserable. I order a drink cheese fries and a burger came out to 17 bucks which is pricey to me. You sit down and wait for them to call your number out. I did like the cheese fries, they use cheddar cheese not the nacho cheese one. The burger I really don’t remember the name of it, I was not a big fan of the burger at all. The bread was all soggy on the bottom. I did like they put the veggies on the side instead of in your burger. I do feel this place is best for family with young kids. They have a big yard for the kids to play outside in the back and sitting outside to eat as well. I don’t think I will come back to this place again.

A real disappointment. The food takes a very long time and then it is cold. The best part was that the kids have something to do so we didn’t have to listen to them complain about how long it took. Skip it and go to What-A-Burger — it is cheaper and tastes better

Great casual burger joint. I had the Pork it Up Burger, which comes with bbq pulled pork on top. Really tasty, and the crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy. Good prices and quick service. I wish I could have specified how I wanted my burger to be cooked, but no points off for that because this is a casual place. If you’re looking for a wide burger selection for a quick lunch, give this place a try.

Boyfriend wanted to try this place. Big restaurant and play area with TINY burgers. My burger drink and fries costs 10.00. We could of gone to whataburger and gotten a much better tasting burger, bigger in size. Seems we got served frozen patty’s.

The reviews that say this is more for the kids are right on. I have never seen a smaller flavorless patty in my burger ever. While the bun was a full-sized adult bun the patty itself seemed like it came Made for a child sized burger. leaving a lot of bread around it. It also tasted like a pre-formed frozen patty. And check out the prices for the burger fries and small drink combo. Waaaay overpriced. Our table was in agreement that you could do better at Whataburgers or sonic. Or Chesters. FYI the pictures of big meaty burgers on the menu are not accurate

Momak’s is a great family friendly burger place with a friendly staff and a huge backyard play area for the kids to run around and play. I’ve been there twice and have had the bacon cheeseburger and the bucket of burgers. The burgers are of consistent quality and are very good. Apparently they were voted #19 on the best burger in Texas list according to Texas Monthly. The sides are authentic and tasty. I had the fried pickles which were awesome. Crisp chips dipped in a batter that is flavorful but not too thick make these a delicious side that almost rivals the burger for your attention. Bottom line: I can’t wait to go back — there’s so much more to try!

Lots of fun for the kiddos and they have a pretty good fiesta salad :) Definitely will be back, food is a little pricey compared to other burger places but the atmosphere makes it worth the price!

First time trying the place and we loved it, great space for the little ones plea Ty of room outside and inside. Food was great and didn’t take long time at all. Only one thing I would improve is may be have hand sanitizer outside for the kids and may be a bigger more organized trash/waste cans. Other than the place is awesome.

This place has lots of fun activities for children, so if you don’t like being around a bunch of kids running around, playing and yelling, you will not enjoy a meal here. However if you have kids, this is a great place to be! The burgers were good. I had the bacon cheese burger, it was delicious. It comes dry so you have to put your own sauce on it, but it was good. Very filling. My fiancé had the mushroom burger, the bread on the bottom was very soggy but it was still tasty. I would probably come back here for the food, but I don’t have kids and don’t enjoy kids running around everywhere.

The only reason to go here is if you have kids and they need to run around and you don’t care about the food. — They need to get a new UPDATED menu. I tried to order a burger, was told they don’t make that anymore. Then tried to order a different sandwich was told they didn’t have ingredients to make it. Then was told BY the cashier not to order a certain salad or other item because they didn’t make those two things anymore either! I suggested that the owner needed to do a new menu and was told that the staff has reported the issue several times to the owner, but he doesn’t care! When an owner doesn’t care, the staff doesn’t care and it all starts to go downhill. What I did finally order was not good. My husbands hamburger which was what TX monthly called the 19th best hamburger in TX was very so-so. We could think of about 4 other places that was better. Everything is prefrozen/packaged, nothing fresh or made in house. Perhaps the hamburger patty is, but couldn’t tell. We were there about 30mins to closing and the staff started to put up chairs and turn off lights! I HATE that! I understand that you as a staff member want to get out at the end of the night asap, but when you make your customers feel rushed and unwelcomed then you should get a none customer service job. Obviously, we will not be going back.

Great place for the family! Large playscape, mini soccer field and always lots of kids! Huge drawback is insanely over priced food. For 3 adult meals and a kids meal with basic drinks its usually over 30.00! And the food isn’t anything exciting, just burgers and chicken

On a Saturday night I went in with one other person looking for a good burger and a milk shake. Since I just moved in around the corner, I was excited to see a local restaurant that looked so inviting from the road. We came in at around 8 pm on a Saturday and the place did not look too busy but there were a few large parties. Kids were out on the soccer field behind the restaurant enjoying themselves. When we placed our order we asked the young lady if it was alright to order our burgers now then wait till after we ate to order our milk shakes and she said yes. As we were trying to find a place to sit, we noticed that a large majority of the tables were«reserved», though no one was sitting at them. All the other tables had empty cups and trays of food on them. We ended up clearing our own table because there was no where to sit. Our food came out after a little bit of a wait. The burgers were alright. Nothing that amazing. As we were finishing up our burgers we noticed that the guys in the kitchen were starting to close everything down at 8:30! The place says it’s open until 9! We went up to the register to ask if we could still order our milk shakes and he said they had closed out the register already… Again it was a half an hour before they said they were going to close. They did end up making us them anyways which was nice. I noticed that a majority of the employees of MoMak’s are high school students, which makes it a fun youthful atmosphere but may not be best for professionalism. Over all the food was alright, the service was kind but unorganized, and the cleanliness was subpar. I’m not sure I would return.

My tastebuds feel ripped off. Over the years I’ve eaten from time to time. I waited a couple years to see if they’d improve. NOPE. I thought I’d try the Texas Monthly Burger being as how the representation of it looked so amazing. I ordered the onions extra extra grilled thinking they’d be nice and crisp. The«burger» I received instead was soaked in grease at the bottom making it impossible to hold, the meat is questionable and flavorless, two slivers of avacado mashed into a top bun covering Hal a cup of brown onion mush! Gross! Even the tarot tots tasted like some weird potato experience gone wrong. And I’ve never come across a less than great tarot tot before. I normally wouldn’t bat an eye at spending $ 40 to feed two adults and a 4 year old but the only flavors I tasted were the queso and Seirra Mist. If you want a lite spot to take your kids to let them run around a bit it’s okay for that. But if you have a fridge, BBQ pit and a backyard save your gas, time and money. If I were trapped in there during the zombie apocalypse I’d rather grab the salt, get bit and feast on human brains. The girl at the register was very nice, though as is the rest of the crew.

The outdoor set up is cool for people with kids– there are a couple of play structures and a big soccer field with plenty of balls. The whole area is very visible from any table. Inside is smallish and full of coin machines. This place would be a favorite if it weren’t for the food. Mediocre, really. I had a salad, which was actually pretty good, but everything else we ordered was meh. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that we walked in like 30 min before closing time. Since I live nearby and I’m desperate for kid-friendly establishments, I’ll give them another try. But if they come at me with cold french fries again, we are done-zo.

Momak’s has great burgers, no denying that. And they’ve done a great job catering to families with children, except for the general lack of oversight of the eqipment. But service is important as well. Today, we arrived here to find every single indoor table reserved for private parties. There was no sign on the door announcing that the restaurant was closed for parties, and they were more than happy to take our order and our money – we just had to sit outside in the cold and rain. When I indicated that this was poor planning on the part of the management(50% of seating for parties should be the limit), people got snippy. Not only was my complaint dismissed out of hand, the manager got defensive. The attitude was that we should just be grateful to be allowed to pay them to eat there. The manager was really being kind of a jerk about it. Maybe I’m a little over sensitive as a cancer patient, but they didn’t know that and they still treated me like crap. I cannot abide poor service. We will not be returning, and I will be letting everyone I know about the bad service and poor behavior of the workers there.

If you are a parent. This is the place to go. Awesome burgers, cold beer, a huge patio, great game day tv’s and an enclosed play area with a playground, and play field. I love that I can come watch a game inside, and see my kid playing outside at all times. Large windows allow great viewing. Also the burgers are some of the best in town. Highly recommend the gorgonzola burger!

It seems as though there has been some snotty reviews over the past month. I am here to set the record straight. Plus it is a lovely day and my Boy must play! We just finished our delicious lunches. I had the new chicken cordon bleu sandwich and my son had his sliders and loved them. Both of us had a nice complete lunch with sides and drinks for $ 15! For a little bit more than what you would pay for a fast food meal you get real food. As for the recent haters, well what can I say? Maybe they were here on an off day or perhaps there is no pleasing them. Though there is no accounting for taste I can assure you my taste buds work just fine! We will keep coming back, especially on beautiful days like today! If I only had one thing to change is that I wish ESPN was on both TVs instead of Fox pseudonews on one, but hey at least the volume is muted. We love MoMak’s Backyard!
