Mint Salon

The place was okay but from the reviews I expected more. I got my hair cut and highlighted. The haircut was nicely done with the layers just like I wanted. but the coloring for my hair was more brassy than I thought it should be. It was not the color that I picked out from the book they had of the different colors. I felt like they were rushing to finish and did not let the dye set long enough to tone my hair. I made another appointment to get it fix and I was charged for them to fix it. I was disappointed because the time and money spent to get it to the color I wanted was a lot more than I expected it to be.

Today was my first appointment at Mint. My Stylist was America; she conditioned, cut and styled my hair and did an amazing job! She literally brought my hair back from the dead! She came up with a great plan to fix the damage to my hair, took the time to answer my questions, and is an absolute professional. If you’re not sure what you want to do with you hair or just need some ideas, she’s definitely the one you need to talk to. My hair has never looked this good!

Today was my first time and i was seen by Angela. We had a thorough conversation about what i was looking for and get recommendation. I love the way my color and cut came out. I feel so much more younger and she told my things about my hair i hadn’t heard before. She is refreshing and what I’ve always thought a stylist should be with advice to make me look the best while keeping my concept close to what i wanted originally.

After paying $ 300 for my hair in Fairbanks the last time, I thought I’d look around San Antonio on a business trip to see if I could get the same quality for a better price point. Did my homework around the Riverwalk area and Mint was the winner. I called and made an appointment for a trim and balyage (since that’s what I had last time). I saw Norah, who was patient and listened to my disjointed half-​hearted talk about my likes and dislikes when it comes to my hair. We decided just to freshen up the color and not due full on balyage, since the amount that was in there was already great. However, the cut she gave me was incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone spend so much time cutting my hair. I had a grown out lob, which I LOVE having but we decided to take it a little shorter. So now my hair is a stacked lob; much shorter in the back, much longer in the front (almost to the base of my neck). I’m never quite sure of what to think of my hair in the first couple of days after a cut, but I LOVE it. I’ve gotten so many compliments and asked where I got my hair done. Even a backhanded compliment of «Well now it fits your face» whatever that’s supposed to mean.
I’m back in San Antonio in May so I may see Norah again for some color. :) Wish I could do something more fun, because I definitely think Norah is the person for that!

So love this place… Raul aways leave me looking beautiful. …he does such awesome job… he always find a way to work with my busy schedule. .all the ladies are so amazing they do such wonderful job… all and so friendly…

Laura has been my hair stylist for years! I moved to Vermont for 3 years and my cuts, trims, and color all waited until I was home. Now, I have relocated to Las Vegas and the hair journeys will continue! Mint salon has a great team.

I’ve lived in San Antonio for almost 2 years now, and I’ve FINALLY found my favorite hair colorist, Rebecca, at Mint Salon! I’m a blonde who has grown up in TN, so moving to Texas, I thought there would be no problem finding a hair stylist in San Antonio who «knows blonde.» Man, was I wrong. Over the past 2 years, I’ve tried 4 different stylists (twice each for second chances), and my highlights have been every shade of wrong. I like to be platinum, not golden, end of story. And, though other stylists assured me they understood this, my color always turned out golden, very orange-​y golden (which isn’t even my natural undertone).
I finally went to Mint Salon after finding it on Unilocal and reading the excellent reviews. Rebecca spent time getting to know my «hair history» and really understood what color blonde I like to be and what had been going wrong over my past ~8 highlights experiences. She even went through the color book with me to be sure we were on the same page of platinum. She spent time «fixing» what was the result of the previous mishaps at other salons. She used the balayage technique, and the outcome was perfection to me! I finally felt like myself again. Not only that, she was incredibly sweet and pleasant to talk to, and the environment of the salon is very inviting. As far as price, this was also the most reasonably priced salon I’ve been to in San Antonio. This place just gets it!
This review is for my first visit back in November 2015, so I can also report how well the color has grown out and hasn’t turned brassy or golden. I am scheduled to go back next week, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Tip: the secret about Mint Salon is out people… Rebecca was booked two weeks out, and with multiple people on the waiting list. So, call ahead to schedule your appointment, and enjoy!

Had my eyebrows miraculously fixed by Miss Antoinette who is very professional and knowledgeable about her job. Not only did she waxed my brows but showed me step by step how to pencil them in to look thicker… She is the only person who will touch my brows from now on… I was completely satisfied both times I have them waxed by her! She’s my lifesaver! I will never ever go to the nail salons to get my brows waxed… I’m glad Antoniette made them look better after they had been through enough damage by the nail salons. :-)

I love it!!! Laura is grate, you can se she is AN EXPERT!!! I’m definitely going back!!!

I’ve been to Mint twice now, and both times have left happy. Most recently, I got a trim and balayage highlights by Rebecca. She was super nice and did a great job. Also had my eyebrows waxed while I was there. Noticed they were a little uneven on the ends once I got home, but no big deal. Everyone there is really nice and attentive, and my appointments have always started on time, i never have to wait. Great atmosphere, in a neat part of town.

I just had my eyebrows waxed and tinted with Antoinette and she is amazing!!! Love my results!!!

If I could give this place 1000 stars I would. I was really early for my appointment so I waited which was fine for me. I was greeted with a smile and a very warm welcome.
Angela was my stylist and OMGOODNESS! I feel like we were meant to meet. She was amazing! I showed her the haircut i wanted and she gave me my options on how she thought the cut would fit my face. Because that was my concern. Anyways, she cut my hair so perfect I’ve never left a salon feeling beautiful and refreshed after just a cut. We also had such a great conversation that i felt like i was talking to my best friend. Im definitely recommend Mint.

Such a cool, laid back hair salon! All the stylists do fantastic work. I have been going there almost a year now. I see all types of hair styles and colors come out of here. If you want it, they can do it! They also offer eyebrow waxing and shaping. And there is a manicurist that works out of the salon too. Their Awapuhi conditioning treatments are amazing, and make your hair feel revitalized. Parking can be a slight challenge if you go at peak business hours. Make sure you’re a pro at the parallel parking! They accept major credit cards and you can add tip to the receipt at the very end. which is necessary for those who no longer use cash. Yay Mint!

This place is so great. It’s so cute and everyone is really down to earth and very talented. They love what they do and it shows.
I had my hair trimmed and colored a bright magenta here by Angela and I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Absolutely in love with my hair and I will definitely be coming back. For those reluctant to take the plunge into vibrant color, this is the place to go. They’re very meticulous and thorough, and they have olaplex if you really need the extra protection when lightening.
I don’t know what else to say besides this place is the absolute best and you need to experience it for yourself, I’m glad I did! (:

Holy smokes! Absolutely loved my two visits to Mint with Nora. The first time I went in for a trim only. She was quick enough to get me in on my lunch break and it didn’t take longer than that! I always appreciate good time management!
My last visit was yesterday to get my hair colored. First off, Nora is excellent at consultations. Each time she asked questions and then commented so that I didn’t feel left out of the loop. I tried my best to explain that I wanted to go a shade or two darker but I absolutely didn’t want my hair to look red or too warm. We looked through the PM shine books and she came up with a combination. I have never gone darker with my hair so while I was excited about the idea of getting my hair colored, I was a little apprehensive about the outcome. But, WOW, I seriously cried when I got in my car because I loved my hair so much and it was such a good change for me at the moment!
It’s been 16 hours since having it done and I still cannot stop touching my hair and smiling! And if you are wondering about the time on that, it took less than an hour and a half from the time I walked in til the time I walked out. Quite impressive in my book.
The price also makes this place the best. I’ve been in San Antonio for the last two years and I can’t name a salon that has the same level of expertise and creativity even close to this price!
Will be going back, no doubt about that.

Based on purely Unilocal reviews and pics (I’m looking at you Chelsea M.!), I chose Laura and set up an appointment. I’ve been to countless different salons and Mint’s vibe has to be one of my faves. Vintage-​inspired artwork on the walls, cute mint green décor and a super sweet lady at the front desk make Mint the first salon I walked into and instantly felt relaxed.
After Laura introduced herself. we started talking about what I wanted. This is usually my least favorite part of getting my hair done. I’ve had stylist nod as if they understood only to leave me with something that was nothing like what I wanted while others will try to steer you towards doing something they are comfortable with rather than what you want. Laura completely deciphered my jumbled explanation and left me with a gorgeous multidimensional partial highlight. No other stylist I’ve tried recently has come close to getting it THIS right.
Oh, it’s not just Laura who’s awesome! I was scoping out other ladies getting their hair done and these gals were sporting bombshell hair as they were walking out the door. I didn’t see a single brassy blonde or uneven cut leave Mint which is something I always look for!
