This is for the Bulverde location… First I have to say, the girls there are very sweet. I really didn’t want to write this review but the more I live with my broken hair the more I can’t believe how much I paid for amateur work. My hair was healthy when I went in for «chunky blonde streaks» over my naturally dark hair. Kelly was the first to work on me. She bleached my hair so badly I had a burn on my scalp. There were no «chunky blonde highlights», it was mostly brassy orange, failed blonde color covering my natural dark. I looked like I was wearing a bleached cap! I went back the next day, they were very apologetic and I felt bad for Kelly. The next girl I saw Shelly squeezed me in while she was working on another client. Trying to correct the orange mistake and had to add dark to correct the over bleaching of it all. (They have catalogues advertising their Aveda professionalism when it comes to achieving the «perfect» blondes so I can’t understand how it all went so badly.) I noticed with the hand mirror that she missed portions that were still orange so Stephanie (the manager) called her back over to add more foils. After it was rinsed out it was still too brassy! So they added more lighter, did the same foil process again (avoiding the burned portion of my scalp.) I went home and it was STILL not the soft light blonde I had asked for. I went back AGAIN the next week to see Christine who was supposed to fix it. The only way apparently she could do that is to go with an ashy blonde which I specifically said I did not want. My friends have told me it looks gray! And it’s so damaged I can’t color it any time soon! As far as the «chunky blonde strips» I had asked for, it did not happen. I got basically a ashy gray color weaved into my hair, and my hair is so damaged it stretches and snaps off every time I shower. It is fried, and in horrible condition, and I am so very upset about it. I brought pictures of the feathered cut I wanted also, as well as the color. None of the girls knew how to cut any kind of feathering in my hair. I had basically a «face frame» cut. Actually Kelly tried to use the curling iron to flip hair away from my face and it flipped forward! I had to take the curling iron and do it myself! I can only assume this is a schooling atmosphere, and some of the girls are still learning that’s why there’s price differences. But for the 180 $ it cost me I did not expect to have someone who was still learning try to color my hair. I will never never go there again. I know older women who have short hair that go there are are very happy with them. Maybe they just have problems with long hair, I don’t know but my hair is fried and not even close to the feathered cut and the light blonde chunks with my natural dark I asked for. Like I said I’m very very upset. Very sweet girls, but I had to write this.

I am writing about the Schertz location (**Salon SY ZY GY) They are awful. My 74 year old mother went there to get a color and highlights. She was charged $ 284. She told them that she did not want it cut or styled. My mother is on a fixed income and saved $ 150 to get it done. When she was given her bill she paid it went to her car and cried. She is the most non-​confrontational person I know. She was totally taken advantage of. She was charged $ 52 for a cut and style (which she didn’t receive) $ 20 for a color balance?, $ 15 for a botanical therapy?, $ 20 gloss. She had no ideal what the heck all this is. She was ok with the charge of the color $ 65 and the foil highlights $ 110. even though it looks awful but that is what she had asked for, but all the other stuff is not ok. And her hair looks awful!!! I went to talk to the manager and she said that there is nothing they could do. That they are a high end salon. And that those are the costs! Beware people!!! NOT HIGH END! (Chelsea was the stylist)

After coming here to get my nails done for some time I have some observations that change my rating. My nail person is still very meticulous and does a great job. The problem is that the shellac doesn’t last long at all. And considering how expensive it is, it doesn’t seem worth it. With that said, I think the polish isn’t as harsh because my nails are much stronger now and don’t break. But I’m paying a lot of money for it to be chipping after a couple of days. Additionally, my toe polish never stays shiny. I’ll continue to come for brow waxes but and haircuts.

I have been a loyal client of the salon for at least eleven years. I usually spend at least $ 200 every time I go to the salon. Today I went in for an appointment I scheduled over six weeks ago and was told someone else would be «facilitating» my color and that the stylist I have seen for 11+ years would just do any highlights or cut. I didn’t have a choice at all and then the person said that it would be that way from now on because they are «too busy.» If I want a random person messing with my hair, I will go to Supercuts! I canceled all appointments and I won’t be going back. K Charles seems to think it is a privilege just to walk into the place. Forget it! They are unprofessional and dishonest.

Had such a bad experience here. I went in for a cut and color and unfortunately I find that my hair was damaged. It is as if a straightener was put in my curly hair vs. color. The approach of this salon is to pass you around so someone else does color, someone else does cut and then finally someone different may complete the blow dry. Because my hair was styled in the salon I did not realize the straight nature of the outcome. I was so hopeful of this salon but have had to find someone else to cut out the damage. I am on hair cut #4 and it is not all gone.

Horrible experience, came to this place due to the reviews on Unilocal,got in there the place looked nice, clean and everything was good, friendly service, got sited right away did not have to wait. I had some pictures of how I wanted my haircut to be like, the senior stylist that I got said that she understood, as she started to cut my hair everything seem to go well, I made a comment of how I don’t like when my hair is not blended well, she said don’t worry I understand, gave me some excuse of how since I have some white hairs, that due to the color difference it might not blend as well, at that point I got worried but didn’t say anything, she started the blending process which took most of the time, she started to blend with regular scissors and kept cutting shorter and shorter, then she started with the texturing scissors which kept also just going shorter and shorter at the end she ended up using the hair trimmer machine to do so and kept going shorter and upper, by the end I didn’t get the hairstyle that I wanted, and I didn’t even get my hair blended so well. I’m disappointed at the fact that I got a senior stylist and she didn’t know how to cut hair, I feel for the haircut I got, I could’ve gone to the Aveda school and gotten the same results from a student.

Last review I gave I said my hair was not light enough, yesterday when I came in I again said my hair was not light enough and go blonder. I was in there at 11:30am CST… to get a full base/​root color and full highlight. What I got was 2 different colors and did not go blonder, but darker, blond on the top and brown on the bottom two tones… looked terrible I asked her to redo it today. I realized that she didn’t give me a full highlight but going to charge me for one as she then started to lift my hair forcefully and pulling hair to put in my highlights underneath. I didn’t say anything because I wanted my hair fixed. I was finally checking out at 5:30 — 6:00pm with patchy hair two tone and not happy that I had to be there for almost 7hrs away from my family, had to cancel birthday dinner plans, couldn’t do my grocery shopping… my Saturday was ruined and I was not amused, yet I still had to pay full price over $ 250…When I asked the manager for a discount she said I don’t know what you looked like when you came in. I showed her a picture of what was done and said I’m asking for a discount (I should have just walked out)…unhappily the manager took off the hairdry.

This is probably the best haircut I’ve gotten for years. I found this place on Unilocal and thought I’d give it a try since I just moved here and needed to find a good salon.
The result is definitely exceeded my expectation. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the hair from my friends already. Kelly did a great job communicating with me and getting the idea of what I want. And can I just say, that girl KNOWS what she’s doing! She’s really friendly yet professional! So I booked my next appointment right away since I’m too happy about the result.

I booked an appointment at K Charles because it’s a Aveda salon. My lesson? Not all Aveda salons were created equal. There are certain expatations, like consistency, that is not the case at K Charles. Yes they use Aveda products, BUT what’s different and unexpected is if you make an appointment with Jennifer to do your pedicure you may get Lisa with out warning. Worse, if you expect to get a pedicure with water, yes water, they don’t use water. This dry pedicure is $ 54.00, it feels like s polish change. Aveda may want to rethink having K Charles represent them.

This is a good salon with very professional stylists. I’ve had two different stylists and both are excellent.

I’m so thrilled with my cut! I was visiting from Houston and was able to make a same day appointment with a senior stylist (I believe her name was Kelly). She and her husband are both stylists. I could tell she was passionate about her work and she spent a good amount of time styling and perfecting my hair. I have thin, curly hair, which makes it difficult to style, but I’ve worn my hair down more than I have in years now. My only wish is that they would have accepted my tip! It’s a non-​gratuity salon. I’ll definitely go back.

They have a different way of doing things than most salons. They have a «team work» concept where your stylist will do the cut/​color but someone else will shampoo and blow dry. At first it may be a turn off, but this seems to allow them to be efficient and the availability of appointments is really nice. They are also up front about it so you’re don’t surprised when someone else starts working on your hair. It is a «no tipping» salon too, which I actually like. Of course they use Aveda products so you can’t go wrong with the quality.

Somehow, I got lucky and stumbled upon Joseph (being new to San Antonio). Let me just say, I love this man! His haircuts are 100% perfect, he does awesome color and best of all, he is simply an awesome guy who has become a friend and confidant! What more could a woman ask for!!!

I LOVE this place! I’ve been a loyal client for five years. Wonderful accommodating staff. I hate getting my hair cut, many unpleasant experiences… but I’ve never had one here. I get low lights… and it’s fab that they keep your color ingredients on file for your next visit. I love and hate that you can’t tip… they’re all so friendly, you want to tip your stylist and hair washer that gives you the best head massage… at the same time I know exactly what I’m spending when I go, so, like I said… love/​hate.
They lost a star due to the décor… could use a little more umph, but it’s clean and works.
Definitely consider this place next time you need to get a color and cut!

I was in need of a cut after months of bleaching damage so I called for an appointment. I had no problems making the appointment the receptionist was very nice and polite! I chose to have a «jr stylist» and was set up with Kelly. She was very sweet and professional! I have long hair that I’m slightly attached to (I don’t know why because my hair is so damaged! Haha) but nevertheless Kelly was able to cut off a majority of the damage without sacrificing the length. My experience here was great from beginning to end! And since they are non-​gratuity I felt it was important to write a review! :) I would recommend this salon to people looking for great service and stylist!

Ivonne is my hair dresser, she is by far the best! Since I’ve been in SA, I’ve gone through a bunch of hairdressers. If you are looking for awesome looking hair. She listens and does exactly what you want to your hair or will suggest her own ideas. What else can you ask for. I’ve recommended 3 clients to her and they were all pleased. Thanks Ivonne

Larissa is awesome. I highly recommend her for color (I was told if clients need re-​colors or color fixes she is who they put them with) but she is great with blonde hair. I have been to EVERY Aveda Salon in San Antonio and my very simple color touch-​up has been botched every which way.
Not only has she been great at fixing my color, but she has been concerned for the health and quality of my hair, customer service and concern for clients, go figure.
My only issue with this place is on my last two visits there were horribly unruly children in the waiting area. The waiting area is small and yes, I do have an issue with your brat throwing his toy up in the air, it landing two inches away from me then him stomping over my Celine bag to retrieve it. Mother did not bat an eyelash over this but upon me rolling my eyes as I probably did had a rude comment to say to me?!
Children should not be allowed in a nice salon, period. Upon making a comment via foursquare an employee wrote a tip back saying they have never seen any children in the waiting room. This was a lie, inappropriate, and unnecessary. I know you are an employee, and you are well aware of these evil children, I have at least four employees come up to me to apologize for the mother and the kids, all saying that they are always out of control and horrible.
They come in every four weeks, so if you have an appointment late morning on Aug 17^th… enjoy that.
I changed my routine because dealing with them the second time around was almost as bad as the first, no thanks.

I don’t get my hair cut very often because I have 5 (yes 5!) Kids and… well I always put them first. I was at a place close to the Stone Oak K Charles and decided to see if they had an opening. Its been 6 months since my last cut! Luckily they got me in a bit later. Priscilla was my stylist and she is AHmazing! My dry, frizzy, unmanageable hair was 100% transformed into soft, sleek hair. She is very sweet and encouraging too. I went in feeling embarrassed and down about the state of my hair and Priscillia helped change that. All of the staff was very accommodating too. You pay a bit more here but… trust me… it is worth every penny!
The other thing I love is that they use Aveda products which are fantastic! Love love love!

Decided to get a GOOD mani pedi prior to my vacation as I wanted to be sure it would last thru my 10 day Med cruise.
My gel manicure began to chip away at day 3. I’m very disappointed. Pedi didn’t hold up much better tho it was a regular one. I can’t recommend Amanda.
