Holiday Inn San Antonio-Riverwalk

2. Experienced another guest having a car accident in the parking garage upon departure because of poor design and lack of managerial oversight for the valets. Watch out!
Spent almost as much as I would have at The Hilton de Palacio or other equivalent «hotel» with far superior service. Read below!!!
Shoddy Service Upon Arrival:
Four of us arrived on Friday, February 5^th around 11:00PM.
When we pulled into the entrance/​valet area I excited my vehicle and asked a bellman for luggage assistance or a cart. The bell– person (also serving as the valet) advised they only had one cart at that moment and it was being used. Nor could he break away to assist with our luggage, I would have to manage. You will notice this is because the hotel dumps the workload of many on very few persons. Therefore the staff (at least valet/​bell-​person) are at a disadvantage and cannot adequately assist the guests’. Whether it be because they’re trying to save a Benjamin or two on wages or because they have too few bell carts. Either way unless your arrival is with only one bag in hand or at an hour that is the least busy, expect awful bell service. We will get to the parking nightmare later on that I experienced shortly after my not so pleasant arrival.
Shoddy Service Upon Checkout:
We departed on Sunday, February 7^th a little before noon. Genuinely hoping for another chance at quality bell-​person assistance with our luggage we yet again encountered a travelers disappointment. We called the front desk for a bell person and the agent advised she would check since they were vey busy. She got back on the line and said someone would be right up. After waiting 5 – 10 minutes I called down and asked where our porter was, we were ready to go still full of delays. She told my friend down stairs that was paying for his separate parking that over 200 people were checking out and they only had two bell-​persons/​valets! Yes! Two!!! What the heck?! Two guys serving the valet and luggage assistance! At an «inn» charging you $ 200 bucks a night! It’s hideous highway robbery!
Parking Nightmare — Vehicle Accident in the Poorly Designed Parking Garage During Our Checkout!
Folks with a truck like myself or suburbans stay someplace else! This parking garage is a freaking disaster! You drive into what is nothing shy of an architectural mishap. You can barely turn the corners on each level! Not to mention, on each and every floor the valets park cars right at the corner of each level near the stairs in an area in front of the emergency staircase. Surely this area is or should be designated a no parking zone right? The area is so tight you wouldn’t believe, yet the valets are parking the cars near the ramp of each level making it nearly impossible to drive! I am a pretty good driver and on each floor had to back up and forward a couple times to make the turn. No wonder there was a car accident when we were leaving Sunday! Oh, not to mention you’re going to pay $ 25 a night for parking in his garage that was certain to cause at least one guest an insurance claim during our stay!
Cost:
$ 495.98 for 2 days of standard accommodations which includes $ 25 a night on parking.
TAKE YOUR MONEY AND STAY SOMEPLACE ELSE! You could pay just about same elsewhere with much better service!

Nice location, updated furnishings, comfortable beds, centrally located in the River walk area. Not too far from the Alamo and far enough away from the main part that you aren’t overwhelmed with the chaos. Only complaint is that one of the days we were there we left the room at noon and they never came to clean the room or replace towels. The desk staff was really nice and tried to get us extras but they were short on linens for the Alamo Bowl weekend. I suggest utilizing the valet service for another $ 5 rather than self parking. The guys at the valet were great. Also this is not an express and does not have comp breakfast.

This is a nice hotel, the rooms were nice, the desk staff were very courteous, friendly & very helpful. l liked that they had a «deli like» shop where you could grab a coffee and Danish or muffin. Restaurants was abit pricey but one night we were out late, just needed a little something & we were able to get us a toasted cheese sandwich. We went for Boat parade which was cancelled (no control over the weather) so its was more expensive.

3 stars. Because Holiday Inn is a nice place to stay whatever which part of the world you are. But wherever you are, an Holiday Inn stays what it is: an hotel with a room and good facilities, but nothing fancy or sexy…
And the food is really not worth to spend time on…

My husband and I are in town for a conference and chose to stay here for the price and location of hotel. Had I known upon booking there will be LOUD CONSTRUCTION for three of the four nights we were here from 9am until 5/​6pm, I would have gone somewhere else as there are tons of options nearby! I realize renovations need to be made, but the hotel should have kept certain floors clear of patrons and sacrificed money for that week because it is extremely disturbing and quite ridiculous of management to only want to get the dollar while subjecting their paying customers to banging (literally right above your room) and loud machines all day long (see videos). Terribly disappointing and has put quite a damper on our stay! Coming back to the room to rest after some sight seeing is completely out of the question.
Aside from this, the pool area is not that great and rather small. I went there to tan at 3pm yesterday and there was no sun hitting the area at all. The placement is terrible as it was a super sunny day without a cloud in the sky. I ended up going right back to my room to change.
Would never stay here again for the simple fact that this hotel doesn’t care at all about the comfort of their customers. I’m still in shock that they actually booked people into certain rooms/​floors during this construction.

I won this hotel on
for pretty cheap for a Saturday night. The hotel was in a nice location… away from the crowd but only a few minutes away from the festivities. There is a back door that will lead you right on to the riverwalk. Our room was a good size… everything clean and modern. We were missing a hair dryer in our room, but the front desk sent one up within 5 min. The only drawback I would say is that they didn’t have a safe. I would think it’s pretty standard now in hotels… but maybe because it’s rated 3 stars? Valet parking is $ 28. There is garage parking, but it’s a few mins walk. Great location if you want to attend a Catholic mass. It’s right across the street. If you sign up with the free Holiday Inn Rewards program, check out is always at 2pm! Sweet!

I am actually impressed, I would not usually stay in a holiday inn but while looking for a hotel on the river walk this one came up. Helpful staff, modern décor, great balcony on river walk which is what I was looking for! Pool area could do with some work, a lot of concrete. Overall I would recommend this hotel if staying in San Antonio and want to be right on the river, it is a 1 minute walk to restaurants and bars… awesome!!!

Bad wifi is worse than no wifi. The Hotel and staff are great. Rooms are nice and modern. The staff is very accommodating. The wifi, however, was terrible.

Can’t help it, I don’t care how «touristy» my sister thinks it is — when I’m in town visiting her, we HAVE to stop here every time.
I love walking up and down, visiting the attractions, shops, and restaurants. I make her bring her two girls, and we make a day of it. The boat tour is great for your first visit, if you haven’t been here before. You can scope everything out ahead of time, and then choose your restaurants after you’ve seen what’s available.
Perfect to come and have a margarita (or in my case, a virgin margarita), some okay-​ish food, and see the shops.

Everything is clean and so far the staff is really nice. The only complaint I have is that the showers are a little hard to turn on, and when you pull the pin to start the shower it doesn’t get all the water, like there is still water running through the main drain. But all in all its a great hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for one night, as part of a large group from my daughter’s school travelling for an orchestra competition (60+ middle schoolers, many string instrument cases, 60+ pieces of luggage, and 5 chaperons). We arrived for our 2pm check-​in, and found out right away that our rooms would not be ready until 4pm.
The super-​friendly and accommodating staff was not about to let the disappointment sink in. They quickly moved our entire group and our belongings to a lovely lounge area in the 8^th floor so that we would be able to relax comfortably while we waited. When i asked where to get some coffee while my room was getting ready, concierge Jasmine quickly offered to bring me a cup.
The rooms were large, comfortable, and clean, and the breakfast was delicious.
I also loved that the hotel was walking distance from the Riverwalk and the Majestic Theater.

I stayed here for a conference. Front Desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were VERY large, a king bed and pull out sofa. Rooms also have a fridge so can go to the nearby Walgreens and get items for a long stay. Rooms are updated and very clean.
Meeting spaces were very nice and all staff was nice.
Location is great can exit the back doors and be right on the river walk!

So far so good. Clean and very nice. Can’t get much closer to the action of the Rover Walk than this.

My room was newly renovated and beautiful however the wood (laminate) floors allow noise to travel very easily. I could hear the neighbors personal conversation with her husband, a child crying and was kept up half the night. When I told the front desk at checkout they reimbursed me $ 20 which I felt was useless. Breakfast is not included and is an additional fee. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again

One of my favorite places to stay at in San Antonio Tx, especially being right on the river walk. Usually when there is a concert at The Majestic this is the place of choice for me, all you gotta do is cross the street and all three of your San Antonio Theaters are there.
You can also take a quick walk right to the river and start enjoying the section where all your action is at on the river walk. So if you must hit the night life all you gotta do is enjoy then simply walk back to your room with ease…

Spent three nights and felt the property was excellent. Our room was large, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom huge for a hotel. We had king size bed, a nice sitting area, and excellent housekeeping service. The bar was crowded but the service was quick. The only drawback was the front desk staff, they didn’t seem to know much about what was going on in San Antonio or have information that guests to their town might need. There was no rack with information about tours, bus service, the Alamo, or other attractions in the area. The big plus to this hotel is it’s location… right on the River Walk with lots of places to eat, drink and have a good time.

This has been my absolute FAVORITE hotel experience, ever! Let me explain: D
We arrived, boyfriend parked the car while I checked in. Front desk man was AWESOME! I explained it was my boyfriends birthday and he gave us 4 free drink tickets at the bar, and two complimentary breakfast passes (continental breakfast is not included at this hotel). First thoughts — lovin it!
We go to the room and it is beautiful — better than the pictures. The view could have been better, but who cares… we were way up at the top. There was some sort of high school something going on so there were a bunch of excited youngsters on our floor but we couldn’t hear them at all once inside our room — great soundproof walls! I forgot deodorant, we called to the front desk, and they brought two male and two females sticks and said take them all — great hospitality!
We explored the hotel, checked out the nice fitness room (yeah right we weren’t going to use it) and even put our feet in the pool… it was a little small but luckily there were no kids around at the time.
We went to the bar for some complimentary drinks, the bartender was great. He’d been there for 30+ years and looked like he really enjoyed his job. The bar is cozy so we made friends with a group next to us. We decided to have alone time so took our drinks to a quiet window area (in the breakfast lounge) and people watched. It was fabulous.
We wanted to do some exploring so we went downstairs, the front desk told us a bunch of things to do and gave a great recommendation for a dinner spot. We took their suggestions. Unfortunately somewhere along the way the strap on my 4″ tall wedges broke… we went to the front desk before «going out» for the evening and they brought out some glue which didn’t work too well… then they called maintenance and had them bring a staple gun to repair my shoe! It worked! It was so incredibly thoughtful and awesome of them to do considering it was like 10pm.
The next morning breakfast was delicious. The server accommodated my celiac disease and I ate fine. Unfortunately I drank too much the night before, and the angels at the Holiday Inn put a thing on our door that said «Do Not Disturb — late check out». They KNEW I had a hangover and wanted to go back to sleep! So we went back to sleep, woke up rested and feelin’ good, and left. I wish we’d booked for two nights, but we will definitely be back!!!

I stayed here with my kids one weekend night and stopped here because we thought it was the closest one to the riverwalk as you are coming in from Alamo drive. If you go one more building there is the Marriott I believe, fail.
Price for a double bed was a total $ 146 tax, parking everything included. Be expect to pay for valet parking on the street level or they can add it to your bill.
Front desk, courteous, valet parking courteous (until you tell him that you want to park your car yourself).
The room we got appeared very clean, no odors and a tad more than I expected. HD television, fancy soap and towels in the restroom, no mold up or down the restroom facilities, desk that is here for your use immaculate, curtains not wrinkled nor smelly.
The only complaint that I had was the elevator was not working while going from the bottom to the 5^th floor of the garage and nobody told us until we were seen standing in front of the elevator for about 10 minutes, but these things break down but why on us?
The garage is kind of dark and a tad on the spook side, you might not want to be caught here alone. It’s dirty, dark and old I should say .
This place is about 15 minutes walking distance to the Riverwalk.

I was looking for a nice place to stay for the weekend and since I’m a fan of Holiday Inn Express I thought hey why not stay close by the Riverwalk. The hotel has been renovated nicely with good amenities. The staff was great I was able to check in within 5 minutes of my arrival and even received 10% off at the hotel restaurant. The room was well organized and equipped with the basics; however I would have loved to have a microwave in the room. The hotel does provide a microwave in the lobby but it’s inconvenient if you want a late night snack.
I have no major complaints other than the following:
I strongly think the hotel may want to invest in new linens that are not white since you see almost every faded stain. The walls are very thin and that’s a problem late at night when you want to relax. Valet is too expensive 26.99 a night seriously?
I stayed on the 19^th floor room 1904 which was great I had a nice view of the skyline so who can complain all that much. If I’m ever in town again I will more than likely stay at the Holiday Inn and bring my own breakfast and park my own car.

We stayed here on a Friday night before heading out to Fredericksburg. It’s within walking distance of the Riverwalk and the Alamo. The newly remodeled foyer was modern and nice, though I thought a little dirty because of all the foot traffic. I think it could have used a bit more mopping. We stayed in Room 611, so we have a Riverwalk view. The staff was nice and accommodated our request for a late check out.
Even though the room was right across from the elevator bank, we didn’t hear much traffic and certainly didn’t wake up from the noise. Like the foyer, the room was modern with laminate faux wood floors. I loved the bathroom and how they arranged the tiles. I’m SO glad to see that the bathtubs are gone, and replaced with a shower pan and frameless shower door (although this could be a negative for families with young children). I also really liked the backlit bathroom mirror (future remodeling ideas!!!). The balcony had an ok view of a quieter part of the Riverwalk, but it was somewhat obscured by trees (I can live with that).
There were a ton of plugs everywhere and next to our beds, which is great since we travel with 4 devices (free wifi!), and we’re not scrambling to unplug clocks and lamps. The sheets were nice and clean and felt luxurious. My husband likes flat pillows, so the pillows were a little too fluffy for him. My only minus might be the bathroom towels. They seemed a little cheap and worn, and probably could be replaced with something a little nicer. Also, Holiday Inn provides Bath & Body Works toiletries, which is fine, but maybe they need to pick a smell that’s not as strong as coconut lime.
Overall, a great stay, and we’ll keep it in mind if we ever visit again.
