Fred Astaire Dance Studio

My friend and I signed up for the introductory package via groupon. Had such a great private lesson that we signed up for a month’s unlimited classes.
There was a young gentleman (I forget his name) who taught us the tango. He was easygoing and fun — he easily made the tango our favorite dance. The owner of the studio… meh. He taught one of the salsa classes, and stopped the group class to criticize me on my technique for 20 seconds. Hey guy… I’m a beginner here, not a competitor. My goal was just to have fun and learn something new. For the remainder of the month, I made sure to not attend any of the classes he would be teaching.
In addition, after an introductory lesson, the instructors are taught to sway you into private lessons. They even call you on the daily to encourage you to sign up. Actual quote, «how do I know what to teach you if you don’t sign up for privates?» Uhh… can’t I get a sample of everything? Again, I’m a beginner — I don’t even know the different types of dances yet.
Aside from all that, they have a beautiful studio, and good north central location. If you don’t have a partner — no worries, there will usually be another person in the class to rotate. They also have events such as the previous reviewer’s experience. There are parties on Fridays as well to meet other students and practice what you’ve learned.
If you have a goal such as competing or learning a dance for your wedding, great place to do it. Good instructors, but be wary of the Fred Astaire way of pushy sales if you’re an new client.
[Edit] Yes, this review is for the Stone Oak location. There was a special last year that included 1-​month of unlimited group classes.

I went for Ladies Night Out to the Vegas Stiletto Fitness. Such an incredible experience. I loved the staff and their professionalism, I loved the workout and the atmosphere. A truly all around phenomenal experience!
