The Ft Sam Houston pool is really nice & very clean. Swimming lessons available for everyone from beginner through medium skills. Let’s face it… advanced swimmers already knows how to swim right? Super family friendly. Life guards on duty at specified times
This pool was under the operation & direction of John J. McCarthy (when he was Chief of Special Services.)

The pool is nice and big BUT the lifeguards are lacking. As well as teaching swim lessons. They say the classes are based off skill when really it is based on age. And yes there is a difference. They didn’t want to move my 4 year old up a class because they said he was not at that level yet despite the fact that he can swim the length of the pool and dive to get objects in the deep end. While there was a child in the class up who wouldn’t even put his head under water and spent the majority of the class sitting outside the pool. They need to spend more time assessing each student skill level and catering to that instead of age. I mean this is about water safety after all.
