History
Established in 1987.
Established in 2003 Santikos Theatres– A Texas Entertainment Legacy
Greek entrepreneur Louis Santikos could not have known that when he founded a movie theatre in San Antonio in 1911, he was launching an entertainment legacy in Texas. More than 100 years later, the Santikos name is synonymous with the movie industry. From humble beginnings, to the celebrated opening of its Palladium IMAX Theatre built in honor of the family’s Greek heritage, the Santikos family has earned a reputation as pioneers in the motion picture industry.
Following in his father’s footsteps, John Santikos joined the family movie business after graduating from St. Mary’s University. Under his leadership the company expanded considerably, adding eight new theatres to the Santikos roster, including the firm’s first theatre built outside of San Antonio, the Silverado IMAX in Houston. John Santikos remains at the helm of the business today, heading up the largest family-owned theatre circuit in Texas.
