ridiculously 2 – 2.5 hour wait for delivery? not worth the time or money… Never again’

I’ve been to several China Gardens in my city which had pretty decent food, but if you’re the type that LOVESMICROWAVED food, then you’ll love this one. The sesame chicken tastes like salty stale leftovers from days ago, the egg drop soup tastes like someone pre-cummed in it, and the rice was given to me in the shape of a microwave safe bowl with no flavor whatsoever. If this restaurant was like Golden Star or Silver Star, this one would be called Zero Star. Oh, and my waitress had a big camel toe and a wedgie. Thank you, but I won’t be coming again…

Part of a chain throughout San Antonio. As we walked in they opened the door for my co-workers and myself. They greeted us well and explained the menu options along with the lunch special. The service was great. My tea cup was never empty. They refilled in a timely manner. The food was not the greatest Chinese but it was okay. The rice was a little clumpy from what I’ve had before. For lunch I had the coconut curry with chicken and fried rice, Rangoon, and Wanton soup. The coconut curry was not bad, but it was a little overwhelming. It’s spicy too. I would not get it again. Overall it’s a good place for lunch, but nothing to brag about. I would go back and try other plates. Great service too.

I guesd i can start ogf with the food was decent. However, I was surprised how dirty the restaurant floors and chairs were when we finally found a table that looked ok(let me add we were the only patrons in the restaurant) as we sat down we were experiencing a strange vibration that even shook the drinks on the table and the manager told the waitress it could be the a. c «go figure!» After a while two more guest came in and gave it the same look we did and made the same coments on the floor and tables. I’m thinking maybe they just had a big rush and didn’t have time to clean the tables or sweep the floors. All in all the waitress was pleasant.

I ordered delivery, was quoted an hour wait time, and I waited 2 ½ hours to get my food. Normally I would just cancel the order and pick it up myself/go somewhere else, but twice when I called, and once when the delivery guy called me, I was assured that my food was on the way. Obviously not the case. When the food finally arrived it was ice cold, and the order wasn’t even right. Chose another establishment until this location gets it’s sh*t together.

I have ordered takeout and delivery a few times. I think this place looks really dirty inside. The floors need to be swept and there is always a lot if flies. The food is not the best but it is ok. The one thing that I have noticed about China Garden is that their published prices are different from what they charge, they always over charge us. Sometimes I do not realize till after we pay. One time we ordered chicken wings and their flier said one thing and they charged us something else. We asked about the price and they said the price changed but then the next time we went in the store they had the same flier. It also happened to us last week. The website said one thing and they charged us another. Also, they do offer military discount but every time I ask it seems like if they over charge us to make up for the discount.

NEVER order delivery. It took over an hour to get to my apartment and I called twice to see when they would come. The van that finally came was a white, extremely dirty«creeper» van. I was happy I lived in an apartment complex because I did not want the van and the driver to know where I lived, that was how scary it was. The driver didn’t have enough change for my 10, and waited like he expected a tip. He told me the reason that it took so long to get there was that they had 4 other orders to deliver. Honestly I don’t think that this restaurant has the resources to offer delivery and if it takes an average of one hour plus to get food delivered something needs to be done to change it. The food was mediocre at best, my dish was supposed to have broccoli in it and it had a single piece of broccoli in it.

Pathetic Service, some staff so damn rude. Had to call 6 times, waited for 2 hours to get the food delivered, though time promised was 45 – 60 mins. After 2 hours, when I called for 7th time, they said that they couldn’t find the delivery boy and they might have to cancel the order. It was 11 in night and you dont find anything open that late on Houston street. I am almost eating a chocolate from vending machine and sleeping. Dont even know if they are going to credit order that I placed, but thank god I didn’t include generous tip thinking of paying in cash.

Well, well, well it sure has been a long time since I’ve last been to China Garden when you read my last review from almost 3 years ago. Who knew that this place took such a nosedive? And I had mistakenly and foolishly believed that the good folks on Unilocal were just being negative Nancys and weren’t giving China Garden a chance. To say that China Garden is the best in the Southtown area or hell to even call China Garden average is just an insult to average Chinese restaurants. This place is just the pits. Where to begin: Flies buzzing around Absentee waitress Lukewarm food Poor service Yep, it’s safe to say I will NOT return to China Garden, whether it’s this location or any other location in San Antonio when you look at the barrage of 3 star and below reviews. If I want average Chinese I’ll just go to Panda Express, hell any of the China Rose locations are better than China Garden. Oh my I miss the old days when this used to be a Pig Stand.

The first time I ordered for delivery around 8:15 p.m. 2.5 hours later it arrives. Decided to take a chance again tonight. My friend orders at 8:30pm. Calls and verifies the order and time. They say the latest would be 9:30pm. The food arrived at 10:25pm! They close at 10pm. I think when you oder at night, they clean and do everything for closing before making the deliveries. Never again! Ridiculous.

It’s ok. Nothing more, nothing less. We order delivery from time to time. It’s usually when we are lazy, don’t want to leave the house, and don’t want pizza.

If I could give 0 stars to this place I would. This is by far the worst Chinese delivery service I have ever experienced. The posted wait time for delivery is 45 minutes(ridiculous, but hey, good food takes time) and 1 hour and 30 minutes later, we’re still waiting for our food. Called the location and they said the wait time was 2 ½ hours, gave me a bunch of excuses, and didn’t even try to keep my service! Such a shame because the in house dining experience is always good, but this place definitely needs to figure out how to make their delivery service better.

I spent a long time on hold to order. Then, the lady who took my order was rude and inefficient and kept putting me on hold mid sentence. Then my order was supposed to take forty five minutes. It took an hour and a half. When I called to check and the woman lied to me, saying the delivery was in my neighborhood, ten minutes away. Twenty minutes later I get a call saying that they are nearby and want me to walk outside to pick up my food. The whole reason I called for takeout was because I was sick, and didn’t want to go out. At least the food was hot, but not at all worth the wait.

Really like the Orange chicken here, but my fave has to be the Spicy egg drop soup! It’s so good! Service is 50⁄50 depending on waitress/waiter. Some provide good service others can be rude. Food is ready pretty quick and they serve your drinks in to go cups which is a plus for me!

I’ve been there twice before and had no complaints about the food. In fact, I had hoped this would be my go to place for lunch downtown… but today, while sitting in a booth waiting for my food; I looked down and noticed a roach walking across the floor(not running, walking). A waitress walked by not noticing. I planned to let it slide(what’s one bug… in an entire resturant). But I looked down and saw the second one O. O When I pointed out the roaches to the waiter… he said, ‘sorry’(no shock, no disgust, just ‘Meh’). So I left and will defiantly not be back.

I have only ever ordered delivery from CG. The wings are okay, the noodles are awful, most chicken dishes are okay. I typically stick to the sesame chicken(basically what you would get in a mall food court). For the amount of food you get for $ 20(delivery fee included), I’m not going to complain. I choose to be lazy and not cook for myself. Plus… they deliver beer! Knock a few beers back and you’ll be munching in no time.

Trent gave excellent service even though I was the only one on the patio. The parmesan garlic wings and French fries were awesome. If you like wings and football the patio would be a great place to watch a game on their jumbo screen.

I haven’t tried the Chinese food here but my co workers raved about their hot wings. They ordered hot and teriyaki. While they looked rather promising and tasted good on the first bite, some of the chicken didn’t looked fully cooked so I was scared to eat anymore. I did try one of their Rangoons that was a bit promising. When I try their Chinese food, I’ll post an update.

So far the Chinese food here in San Antonio is sad, sad, sad! This is my 3rd Chinese restaurant attempt and they all tested the same. Bland. Missing ingredients like; GINGER, SESAMEOIL, and RICEWINEVINEGAR. The bases of what gives Chinese food that Spice and Tang.
For you to give this place 2 or more Stars, you don’t know what Chinese Cuisine is. Just moved here from Houston, the mecca for Asian Cuisine. Don’t believe me, go there and visit our China-Town for 2 days. For you who think your Asian Cuisine here in San Antonio is through the roof, it’s like asking a «COMIC-BOOK» freak about movies and literature. To them«X-MEN» and«THEAVENGERS» is «THEGODFATHER» and«CASABLANCA», those comic-book movies are cheap entertainment with predictable endings. And are clueless who, Upton Sinclair or John Steinback were, and are. Why am I talking about movies than food? I’m clearing up how bad the Chinese food is here. They’re as bad as comic-book movies and goers. They suck! Both. San Antonio Chinese food. 0⁄10.

Ok so I know the starting will resemble that scene in Swingers where the guy leaves like a million messages on some girl’s voicemail, but I feel like China Garden is too bad to let slide! So: To begin, I am completely aghast that it took 1 hour 10 minutes when the phone girl said 45 minutes-1 hour. and they also slapped a delivery charge to the order, which the flyer says FREETOFORTSAMHOUSTONWITHORDEROFMORETHAN $ 15 1. The«steak lo mein with vegetables» listed, is NOTSTEAK!!! Terrible that I had ordered it MINUSONION because I am allergic! I couldn’t even consume it! It is just sliced roast beef cut with a freakin’ knife. Do you understand how egregious that is? There is no way a self-respecting Chinese restaurant would do this. Did I mention the noodle wasn’t lo mein at all? It was a thai style phat khi mao(drunken noodle.) This is as bad as ordering house-made ravioli at an Italian restaurant and getting a Hot Pocket. Bad, China Garden, bad! 2. My second order included steak with broccoli and yet again, no steak. They should correctly term their cut of beef as ROASTBEEF! Flimsily clad bits of steak that had no taste or textural excitement. The measurement in this $ 11 dish was but a cup. That’s right, a cups worth of disappointment. Salute to you, China Garden! Not! 3. Beware the $ 2 extra for SHRIMP fried rice, for in it you may spot 6 pieces albeit just a cup(I measured it) as well that was included with the above named $ 11 entrée. Basic shards separated from a medium whole shrimp, actually. Not 6 shrimp, 6 bits. Now on to the good! *Sweet tea, though spilled and sloshed generously in the same bag as my egg rolls and food, it was invitingly cold, well brewed, and faultless. *Pork egg rolls, they were surprisingly not greasy, lacking, but rather good. C’mon China Garden, be all that you can be! I’m rootin’ for ya!
