I was hesitant eating a burger but decided to try it. To my surprise it was like eating a real homemade burger. I eat mine well done and yet it was very juicy and not dry. The onion rings are second best I have ever had. I have to say second because I know another restaurant that are better. Overall I give this a four star only because I hardly ever eat burgers so hard to compare. But worth it and when back in town, most definitely making a stop here again. Bacon Cheeseburger is the way to go. Yummy Yummy.

In town on business and saw the Unilocal rating and stopped in. Phenomenal burger! Easy to see why all the accolades. I will come back and bring friends!

I went to Chester’s last night because Frontier was packed. Very disappointed. Thin, dry patty, floppy fries and overlooked onion rings. I asked for grilled jalapeño on my burger, not an unusual request, and they said we don’t grill jalapeños only onions. Odd. Five Guys does, Whataburger does, Longhorn does, Big Bob will… Too many better choices than Chester’s. The Sam Adams Boston Lager was superb. My wife loves Chester’s. I went to Chester’s about a year ago, pretty much the same scenario.

My co-workers and I went to Chester’s today(3÷30÷16) for lunch and it was really good. I haven’t been here in years(due to diet changes) but it was worth every bite. I had the cheese burger with jalenos and onion rings. The burger was cooked to perfection and they added a decent amount of jalapenos that covered the whole beef patty. The onion rings were a golden, crispy and delious. Of course I’ll have to do extra running to burn off these calories but I’m good with that. I recommend this place if you are in the mood for a good juicy burger.

Decent burger. Very overrated, I thought the patty would have some type of flavor. It’s very bland. Size is good and filling. Still on the search for the best burger in sa :(

Great burgers and fries. Seating is outdated and not very comfortable. Not a place to hang out. But, the burgers are very good. I hade the chili burger. It had just the right amount of chili, so you could pick it up without getting all messy. Large beer selectiom. Clean but, outdated.

Excellent burgers in warm, faux-divey(but not overly so!) setting. The burgers are large and have excellent flavor. I thought the green chili topping was particularly flavorful, with just a little kick(although more kick would work well also). The fries are nice and chunky. I haven’t had anything other than burgers here, but the menu is a decent size, consisting mainly of burgers, hot dogs, and such, all at pretty good prices. There’s also a huge beer selection and perfect sweet tea. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Everyone knows their hamburgers are among the best in town. But I’m trying to watch my diet and I had the grilled chicken sandwich — it was AWESOME! Branch out and try something different. :)

Daang talk about” having a case of the mondays” lol The food as always was great. I stick to regular cheeseburger and fries. But dang the employees there are not shy about hiding their hate for working there. Girl took my order no smile nothing she looked as if I was bugging her when placing my order. Like uhmm… you have one thing to do and can’t even do it with a simple«hello, how are you?» She looked at me and said«what do you want?» Really? Well what I want is good service along with my burger. I come for the burgers love a good burger, but seriously teach these employees customer service. It wasn’t just her approach it was her demeanor as well. I get it youre young, this isn’t your career. But for now, just do it with a positive attitude. Goes a long way.

After years of people telling me how great Chester’s is I finally went. I ordered the Green Chile Cheeseburger with Fries and Stuffed Jalapenos. The fries and stuffed jalapenos were good. The burger was ok, it didnt have green chile or cheese and according to the girl at the register there is no difference between a regular hamburger and and the green chile cheeseburger. I pay a dollar more for the name. It was slightly better than whataburger, meh. The process with getting a receipt was a little on the weird side. It just seemed odd that I had to get my food first and then when my order came up, I could have a receipt. Maybe its just this location but I doubt I will ever go to a Chester’s again

Chili hot was made with store can chili — grilled cheese and 2 big pieces of bread with 1 slice of cheese — better than burger King not as good as in and out

So i used to live in San Antonio and remember this place having good food. Now that I’m out of country and only get to visit i’ve had some bizarre experiences. My mother and I ALWAYS go to Chester’s when i’m in town and the last three times i have been met with the worst customer service on earth. Rude counter people, ruder people walking around cleaning, and each time we sat on the patio. For some reason we sit out there and(literally) every five minutes some employee would come out and glare at us, wipe the SAMEEMPTYTABLE and sigh as they walk back in. After the sixth or seventh dramatic production, we got upset and left. But it happened everytime i came back. If you can’t serve customers on your patio, or it’s just ripping your heart out that someone’s out there, close it down. I’ve never been so uncomfortable eating a simple meal. Good burger but seriously soggy fries. You can’t buy a smile from employees at this place.

I could have gone to whataburger for a similar version of this burger. There’s nothing special here. Ten bucks for burger and fries I expected more. Bland flavor, thin patty, flavorless green chili, and mediocre fries. I’ve tried many, many burger joints and even those that don’t specialize in them like Chili’s across the street will have more flavor. I think it’s hilarious when places put up signs saying they are«voted» «best» in town. In other words, I have no clue how this was«voted» best burger in town. That’s not to say everything was bad. The staff was friendly and the place was clean from what I can tell. I guess I expected an upgrade from fast food but trust me when I say In n Out or Five Guys will satisfy your burger taste buds exceedingly more for less or equal money.

The food was great, but the service is terrible! Rude, rolling their eyes, not willing to offer any assistance or guidance to first time customers, one of which was disabled. Couldn’t say that they were busy, there was only 1 table seated in the place!

I love Chesters hamburgers, the sesame seed bun are delicious the burgers are juicy and massive, the lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions are fresh. Only two things I don’t enjoy about Chesters are their fries are unseasoned and the hunts ketchup. How can you have a great burger and not have heinz? I haven’t tried anything other than the burgers and fries so I can’t comment, but they do have a massive beer selection!

My man friend and I had been curious about this place for a while and decided to try it out last night. We each ordered the bacon cheese burgers, one with fries and one with onion rings. It came out quickly and they were on a delicious sesame seed bun! They had tvs so we could watch the spurs game. Will be frequenting this place now!

I haven’t been to Chester’s in quite a while. I remember liking it the last time I was here, but that was before the beginning of the hamburger renaissance we are currently enjoying in San Antonio. «Best Burger in San Antonio»? In your dreams. The hamburger here doesn’t suck, but it hardly deserves such a superlative description. The only thing I can really recommend about the hamburger was the toasted bun, which added a pleasant flavor and texture. The sides were supremely disappointing: hand-cut French fries that were floppy and flavorless – and onion rings from a frozen food-service bag! One saving grace was the very nice chocolate malt. Although the food did not knock me out, I would like to offer a compliment for the young lady working the register(I’m sorry to say I didn’t get her name). My wife’s parents were having a hard time placing their order, but the cashier was very kind and patient with them. We really appreciated how nice she was.

The burgers here, to me, don’t match up to the hype, but are fairly good. The sesame buns are delicious, but the burgers and fries are just average to me. If you’re in the mood for a burger, Chester’s works in a pinch, but it’s nothing special. Their service is fairly quick and employees are efficient and not rude(but not overly friendly, either!) Give them a try and decide for yourself!

This place has been here since before 1993. When I was young, I used to eat burgers here every once in a while. So, one day I thought it was a good idea to get a job here. I worked here as a cook for about a year in the early 90’s. Everything looked exactly the same from when I worked at this location. When I worked here I thought this food was expensive. Shoot, I thought Whataburger was expensive back in those days. Like with everything from the past, burgers from here tasted better back then. It was nice to come back to Chester’s after 20 years and have a good burger with exceptional fries. The $ 1.99 beer special was a pleasant surprise. I asked for green chile and was given a cold little cup. Back in the day they heated it up on the griddle and placed it on your burger for you. The toasted poppy seed buns are a wonderful change. The staff was very young, attentive, and professional.
