Avalon Place

This place was a horrible place to live at. Making you pay fees for everything. I had to pay a fee for having Xmas lights on in January. Wtf?! That’s ridiculous. I get fees for everything. Walls and floors are so thin that neighbors complain about everything and you can hear every conversation outside. The apartment has so many ants and everything breaks easily, yet it’s so expensive!!! Don’t live here. Not worth a penny. Can’t even play rock band without my downstairs neighbor calling the cops on me.

I’ve been living here for my first two years of college and I’ve had some of the best experiences I’ve ever had at these apartments. They have awesome beds, I just love this place.

I lived at Avalon for 2 years! It was conveniently right across from campus and all of the employees were always helpful and sweet. (Especially Courtney)
Overall I would suggest living here. Don’t forget to reserve a parking spot! :)

I don’t live at Avalon but was interested in moving there not too long ago. The customer service I received from Genevieve was spectacular. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. If the price wasn’t so high, and there was better parking I would consider moving there.

If you trust me, plz, plz do not leave here. Even though it is closed to campus. But manager sucks and you will get a lot blind binding contract in your lease.
No enough parking;
unstable internet or even disconnected for half month;
Red ants and bugs everywhere.
The MOST disgusting thing is they don’t clean up before you moving in!!!
i found so much hairs in my carpet and sinks.
My refrigerator sticked by syrup!!!
Those manager just ignore you every time.

I really love living at Avalon. They really have made the transition to UTSA easy on me. I moved here from out of state, and it was a great decision. This place is amazing all around. When I came in to tour for the first time, the staff was really helpful and nice. My parents asked a ton of questions, and they were great about answering all of them.
They assigned my parking spot really close to my unit. The tram to UTSA stops in the middle of the property. You can’t get much closer to UTSA!
The unit itself was in good shape, and came with a brand new 50″ 1080i HDTV. The walls aren’t paper thin like the dorms, which is good because I’m a light sleeper. My AC broke a few weeks ago, and it was fixed that day. The maintenance guys are awesome.
The staff does a good job of putting on fun events, BBQ’s, etc. Moving here and knowing no one, I found it easy to make friends here.
I can’t say enough good things about Avalon. I look forward to re-​signing. Thank you guys!

I’m only giving this one star because I have to– I would give it 0 if I could.
I’ve lived at Avalon Place for two years now, and I have to say it has been the worst apartment experience ever. I don’t even know where to start. The staff is terrible– very rude and have no idea what they are talking about most of the time. I get asked for my ID for packages sometimes, and sometimes I don’t. Each staff member tells me something different when I ask them the same question. The only thing they stay on top of is constantly calling and pestering to try and get you to renew your lease, but I don’t understand why anyone would. Some of the new staff members are nicer but this doesn’t make up for the terrible experience I’ve had thus far.
When I signed my lease two years ago, we signed for an apartment with a pool view and paid for parking spots close to our apartment. A couple of weeks before our move in date, we were told that we could not have that unit because it had been given to someone else who previously lived there and renewed their lease (how does this make sense if we signed the lease for THAT very apartment?). Our parking spots also got moved for the same reason– I figure that they let one of their staff live in that apartment or one of the staffs friends and just booted us out.
The apartment needed many fixes last year and this year– when I moved in the dishwasher did not work, the BACK DOOR DIDN’T LOCK, nails were sticking up in the carpet, furniture was torn up… and I’m sure they charged the previous resident for all of these broken things but did not fix them before I moved in. Now it has been two weeks since my dryer has been broken and it still has not been fixed because a part has yet to be ordered. The dishwasher has needed repair three times in the same year. Today my microwave gave out. I cannot wait to move out of this place.
They just reduced the number of visitor spots because people who don’t live there apparently park there and walk to UTSA or take the shuttle– this has been a problem forever now, and just inconveniences the residents when they want to have guests over. Maybe they could fix the gate that has never been put in. The speed bumps are more like speed curbs– even if you drive 10 miles an hour, they are terrible.
The internet. There was a period of time this year (a whole month) where pavlov media could not figure out what was wrong with the internet service, so nobody had internet. This is a really big problem as most of our homework nowadays is turned in online.
The printer. There is a lab that you can use for computer/​printing services. But the computers in there are very slow and have problems most of the time. And now the printer has been «in the process of being replaced» for at least two weeks. This is not as big of an issue, but I like to be able to use what I am paying for. They have a sign that says we can email them our documents, but that is a huge inconvenience to me personally.
Noise. I’ve filed quite a few noise complaints and have had no success. I don’t know if they contact the people making noise or not but the walls are paper thin anyways– you can hear your neighbor’s phone vibrate in the room next to you so it is pretty easy to get very loud.
Parking. There is no real regulation to make sure people don’t park in your paid spots. This year, they made everyone get a permit sticker, but when someone parked in my spot, they told me to «leave a note» on their car (which I had already done) or have it towed myself.
The furnishings are very cheap and easily breakable. One of the knobs on one of my drawers just fell off the other day, and I’m not rough with it. The shower bar was being held up with two pieces of cardboard when I moved in.
I could go on, but I will spare you the time. Bottom line: I would not recommend anyone live here. Ever. Its only redeeming quality is the fact that it is within walking distance of UTSA (which is why I tried to stay for another year), but I am positive you can compromise for better customer service and better apartments at a lower price if you move a little further away.

It seems like Avalon Place is on a PR campaign to keep their reputation afloat. Every now and than I get on Google and search Avalon Place San Antonio in hopes to see that the honest reviews about this place are still up so potential residents can see what they’re getting into. Just as of summer of 2012, it seems all the negative reviews have disappeared or made its way out of the public face of this place.
–Stay away from Peak Campus Companies (Avalon parent company) and many of the other student housing companies. PCC received an F on the BBB. They take no shame in scamming their young residents and will make a quick buck of them in a heartbeat at any possibility.

This place is an awesome place to live!!! They have these really cool events like jersey shore nights and they have 3 huge hd tvs one of which is 3d by the way. being so far away from home they keep my mind occupied with fun stuff and if I have a problem they do there best to fix it. i will definitly stay another year!
