History

Established in 1948.

Atlas Floors was founded in 1948 by World War II veteran William E. Mahone in a rented building in downtown San Antonio, TX, fulfilling his dream of owning his own business.

As business improved, the Mahones relocated in a combination business/​home on Hildebrand Avenue, and the second generation literally «grew up» in the business. Bill Mahone Sr passed away in 1972, but Bill Mahone Jr, his mother Laura, and his two sisters Jessica and Annie were involved in the family enterprise.

In 1984, the building was expanded, more than doubling the operation’s size. As San Antonio grew over the years, so did Atlas Floors. In 2000 Atlas Floors opened a second showroom along Highway 281 at San Pedro and Donella. Shortly thereafter, Atlas Floors partnered with Carpet One, which led to the opening of the 3^rd showroom in Northwest San Antonio at Loop 1604 and Braun.

Today, Atlas Floors Carpet One is owned and operated by Bill Mahone Jr (President), Jessica McCarthy (VP), and Billy Mahone III.

Business Owner

Jessica McCarthy’s father started the business back in 1948. Now she is co-​owner with her brother Bill, and Vice President of the company. Jessica offices out of our San Pedro store, where she also serves as Store Manager.
