AAMCO Transmissions

LOVE the customer service, these people here know how to take care of the customers.
I would advice anyone who has transmission or any kind of vehicle problems to come on down here and get it checked.
(This review is mainly about how horrible coxco is off of 35 south but it is also about how great of customer service this place is and how they help me out with what the problem was with my car.)
Horrible horrible place. I was there for two hours which isn’t really a big deal considering that I originally went there for a diagnostics. But two people who got there after me for the same thing left before me as well. None the less, the real reason I gave them one star is for the HORRIBLE customer service.
The older gentleman in the front who I am assuming is the owner was so rude to me (Silver hair.)On top of that when I asked him questions he ignored me and said why don’t you just wait for the car to come out. When I also asked what is the APR if I decided to get my transmission fixed here, he told me it all depends but why don’t you just sit down and wait for my guys to finish what they are doing.
Next thing is when they finally finished with the diagnostics, they determined there was nothing wrong and it was only transmission mounts that needed to be replaced. Those were his words, when I asked if I could speak to the mechanic to check on my car he told me no why don’t you just ask me.
That right off the bat makes me feel on comfortable considering he is not the mechanic. I’d like to hear exactly what was wrong from the person who checked it out. It just makes sense.
So when I asked him how much they would charge for that he told me it would be about $ 500 just for labor not including parts. So when I asked him how much do transmission mounts typically cost he told me «I don’t freakin know, we would have to take them off to see.»
Mind you the whole time this conversation was going on they kept getting interrupted by phone calls so this whole conversation lasted about 10 minutes when it should’ve lasted about 2 minutes.
Nonetheless so I decided to get it fixed with my own mechanic which he only charged $ 145 in labor compared to his price although I did have to buy my own parts.
So when I got my car fixed the original issue still occurred. So I ended up taking it to a different transmission store called (AMMCO) off of Vance Jackson and 410. Explained the horrible experience I had. They also did a free diagnostics, and they determined that the oil was getting really hot inside of the transmission and that there something internally wrong.
With all that being said my point is, that this place has horrible customer service and at the end of the day they didn’t even figure out what the problem was. They originally diagnosed me and said it was only transmission mounts and there was nothing internally wrong with the transmission. So they would’ve charged me about 800+ dollars to fix something that wasn’t even the initial problem.
Don’t waste your time here please go somewhere else. They have horrible service here.

Disingenuous, deceitful, dishonest, bait & switch, extortion.
We were having transmission problem on a Ford F250 pickup. The truck repair outfit we use (in Dilley) recommended a Ford factory rebuilt transmission with a 36 month, unlimited mileage warranty at an installed price of $ 2900.
My stepson suggested we have AAMCO take a look at it so he contacted Matt at the AAMCO located at 2339 NW Loop 410, San Antonio. When my stepson first spoke to Matt he mentioned the $ 2900 price from the first shop. In the following email exchange on June 26^th Matt made the following offers and suggested the repair could be as low as $ 1100.
«$ 1100 to $ 2900 Depending on parts we need to be replaced…»
«I’ll tow it to here but not both ways thats getting to be alot now. to here at my shop from where its at it will be free and i will set up to get towed back for you and we can then ask how much it will be but they will give you my rates.»
«So we can do our Free Multi point inspection check so we can find out the best possible route to get your vehicle back on the road…»
Matt never mentioned any charges for either towing or a multipoint inspection in any email on on the telephone.
Matt at Aamco said his price to rebuild the transmission would be the same as a Ford factory rebuild at $ 2900 but could or would not meet the 36 month unlimited mileage. Therefore I arranged to tow the truck back to Dilley.
It was then that Matt refused to release my truck and said I owed him $ 689. $ 200 for towing and $ 489 for diagnosing the transmission. I showed Matt his emails offering free towing and multi point inspection. He refused to remove the $ 489 inspection charge.
We paid the extortion charge of $ 489 and after Matt stalled for 4 days He released the truck.

Came in without an appointment on a Saturday morning and only had to wait about 45 mins for them to fit me in and diagnose the problem. Really nice guys, too.

This was by far the worst car experience I have ever experienced in my entire life! I had them look at my car and gave me an estimate around $ 2,000 and that it would only take a couple days… well $ 5,000 dollars and two weeks later I received my car that was covered in oil, filled with ants and had broken windshield wipers. The wrong parts were ordered and weeks were flying by where I had to use a rental car and I paid per day! My car then decided to start smoking and I almost crashed my car because no one had cleaned my car and had transmisson fluid everywhere that was burning. My car lights started to flash and all my sensors lit up– I had to take it to another place to get looked at and they told me there was multiple things still wrong with the car! Worst service in the world and $ 5,000 dollars later I have to take it to another car service because I wouldn’t trust aamco with even changing out my oil out!
