We specialize in custom web design and web development including custom web application programming. With 14 years in the industry, we’ve got the process down to a science. From initial concept right through to launch we’ll guide you like a Sherpa through the entire project.

Rather than using an off-​the-​shelf CMS like Wordpress or Joomla with plug-​ins that almost (but not quite) fit your needs, we’ll start by looking at your unique needs; then design and build a system custom-​tailored to your exact needs with no extra clutter. So you end up with a clean, easy to use interface organized to work the way you work. We design the interface to fit your workflow and even try to find ways to automate tasks within your workflow wherever possible. Under the hood, the codebase ends up being lean and tidy and easy to maintain going forward. So six months down the road when you need to tweak a feature or add a new one, that’s no problem.

History

Established in 2003.

Originally based in Manhattan, NY and operating under the name «WebVandals», our little web studio churned out projects for such heavy hitter clients as Capitol Records, MTV, Dell Computers, and the U.S. Dept. of Treasury. In 2003, we changed our name to DataFly and shifted our focus from web design and web development to Unix-​based shared web hosting services.

Unimpressed with the current trend of building everything on top of cookie-​cutter CMS systems like Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal, we began offering fully custom web application and web site programming services and found that like a custom-​tailored suit, our clients tend to be much happier with the results. In 2012, we moved out of a nondescript second floor office and opened our new street front web studio on Miracle Mile in San Anselmo.

Business Owner

I’ve been designing and building websites since 1998. Over the years, I’ve been involved in all phases of web development as diverse as project planning, user interface design, Unix/​Apache web server administration, database modelling, and general web application architecture and programming. I don’t claim to be the world champion at any one of these skills individually; but I understand them all and know how they all fit together. Having this collective experience across the full sprectrum gives me a very good birdseye view when it comes to planning and managing web projects. So that’s what I do. Much like hiring a general contractor to build a house, I’m a general contractor for web projects. I’m very hands on and intimately involved in overseeing every single line of code in every project.
