Bob Sikma – State Farm Insurance Agent

We like Bob and his assistant, Karla, is very responsive. They provide good service. Our issue is that we discovered after years of being with State Farm that they are a high cost provider and so we have been probably overpaying. Pemco and Safeco are more reasonable. We had received our annual home owners premium and it had increased by 20% from the prior year. That was the final straw. I think that State Farm has a tough time competitively because they have many homes in areas with insurance claims, regional providers only have issues from our area. I’m sure that people in the insurance industry understand this much better than we do. I just wanted to point out that we have been paying quite a premium for equivalent insurance we could purchase elsewhere. We were always state farm fans but not at this price. I highly encourage everyone to get multiple bids every other year and shop hard for insurance. We should have been better about doing this. We liked being in this office although we haven’t seen Bob in years. Mostly you deal with the assistant in the office and we have found that to be similar with State Farm offices in other states also.

I’m really happy thus far — granted it has only been a few days, so I can only really comment about my experience getting new auto/​condo policies.
I got a new policy through this office yesterday after exchanging emails between myself and Bob’s assistant, Karla. She was very responsive to all of my questions and quote requests — answers and paperwork were emailed within a few minutes of asking them.
Rates were a lot more competitive than I was expecting — I currently have Progressive for auto and Amica for my condo… and State Farm beat both of them even before the multi-​line discount for the same coverage. With all discounts I am saving about $ 180/​yr over my other two existing policies.
I stayed away from the agent approach to insurance because I was expecting higher premiums and slow responses to my questions… but I seem to have been proven wrong by these guys.
Of course, the true worth of an insurance company is how they treat you when you have a claim (knock on wood I haven’t had to make one yet with any policy I’ve ever had), so we’ll see how that goes if and when I need to make one. For now though, they get 5 stars.
