Just an hour and a half outside of NYC, we offer lessons, trail rides, boarding, and leasing for adults and children of all skill levels. The team at Misfit Farm are friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. We brought our daughters (5 & 7 years of age) for their first lesson and we enjoyed the experience immensely. Bridget and her son (Shane) made the whole experience comforting. Misfit Farm places a high emphasis on horsemanship. Importantly, with small children, I believe the most important part of their early learning is horsemanship which will lead to increased confidence. My daughters had a fabulous time at their first lesson and we immediately signed them up for 10 lessons.
In addition, the team at Misfit Farm was responsive after leaving a phone message. Bridget was extremely accommodating in working with our schedule (i.e., on labor day weekend). The farm is well taken care of (i.e., it’s a working farm) and the other animals on the property (e.g., dogs, goat, and pig) make the experience that much better.

We had been going to another equestrian center not far from Misfit Farm for the last 13 yrs is so. 3 or 4 times a year we would come up from the City and want to get the kids a Pony ride and at least a basic horsemanship lesson. However, a few years ago, they became quite disinterested in our business, the last straw when the said that «…couldn’t fit us in»…even with several weeks advanced notice. That’s was it! I was determined to find a new place to bring my kids and business. Luckily, we found Misfit Farm (the name was welcoming… not snooty and elitist like the other place. Brigitte, the owner fielded my first call quickly and we set up a ride for the coming saturday. I grew up on the track and have ridden for over 40 years. Brigitte, her staff and the horses were the top notch and as friendly as can be. We found our new riding place. Matt S. NYC
