Target Optical

I am only giving them one star because zero stars is not an option. I went into Target Optical and ordered glasses with written prescription in hand. I wasn’t sure that this was my most recent prescription so I had the optical contact my Dr to double check. Emilee called me back TWO DAYS after my initial visit to let me know she had contacted my Dr and I indeed had my most recent prescription and she would be placing my order. She let me know my glasses would be in 14 days. Keep in mind the total on these glasses was over $ 400.00. Not cheap by any measure. FOURTEEN DAYS to get $ 400.00 glasses?! If my insurance gave more options, I would have left when they told me 14 days. No one ever called me to let me know my glasses had arrived like they told me they would. .. I just happened to stop by while shopping one afternoon and they were there.
Immediately I knew something wasn’t right when I put the glasses on. My vision was distorted, I could not measure distance and my eyes would not focus. I mentioned this within five seconds of wearing the glasses. Emilee assured me that they were correct and I just needed time to adjust to the glasses. I took her word for it and walked around the store for the next hour trying to adjust. I then returned to the optical again to express my concern, I knew something wasn’t right, she took the glasses and doubled checked that they lab had made them to my prescription. She assured me they were correct. She told me that if I had continued to have problems to contact my eye Dr.
I wore the glasses for the next week trying to adjust to them. It was miserable. They made me sick, I could not focus, I could not drive, I felt dizzy and I couldn’t not gage any distance. .. Finally, I called my eye Dr. I had to arrange a day off work to get an appointment and make the 40 min drive downtown. Within five minutes of being at the eye Dr, they told me that the left lens of my glasses was made to –5.75 when my prescription CLEARLY said –3.75. Yes, I had been wearing glasses with a lens TWO strengths too strong for the last week!
I went back to the optical. The manager said she had been out of town and the girl who ordered my left lens at a –5.75 was no longer with the company. I already was aware of this because while I was there the first time purchasing my glasses, I was also going to get my daughter a pair. Emilee told me that I should wait because she got a new job at a pediatric optical and I should contact her there for children’s glasses. She even went as far as writing her personal cell phone number on the back of a target optical card to solicit business for her new place of employment. The manager did nothing to correct the situation, she did not expedite the order. She simply reordered the lenses and again I am left to play the 14 day waiting game. $ 400.00, 25 days since purchase and hours of my time and sanity later — I still have NO glasses!
