I don’t personally attend this gym but my 82 year old grandfather does and the staff and management have taken care of hm and offered phenomenal customer service. I can’t begin to express how much this means to us and how good much if a relief it is knowing there are still good business out there that are willing to go the extra mile for their customers when it could possibly be easy to take advantage of them!

This is one of the many options offered under the Salt Lake County Rec Center umbrella. I pay $ 30/month for unlimited access to all of their rec centers which I guess isn’t too bad. I started going to this one because it has more room to lift weights but now it seems every time I go there, half of their treadmills are broken or working poorly. They have had the same treadmills with«out of order» signs on them for what seems like months! I understand that I only pay $ 30/month but why don’t they fix the treadmills? Also, this location and the one in Holladay are dirty. It seems like they’ve never used a vacuum in there or don’t care enough to make it look presentable. The equipment certainly isn’t state of the art, despite them raising the rates $ 5 more dollars a month from last year but it’s not terribly expensive for what you get. I’m debating renewing my membership next year due to the constant broken equipment and dirty floors but they do offer a wide variety of classes that are included in the membership so it’s definitely something to consider.

This review is specifically in regards to the ages 6 – 18 Tae Kwon Doe program. It meets two days a week– Tuesdays and Thursdays. The beginner class is from 6pm-7pm. The intermediate/advanced class is from 7pm-8pm. The cost is $ 15 dollars per month. The instructor’s name is Paco, and he is patient and a very good teacher. He is assisted by some of the upper level students. My kids love it– the class really pushes them because it incorporates exercise, stretching, tae kwon doe forms, self-defense, and board breaking. It makes my two sons feel confident, and also helps them to set goals. Paco(the instructor) emphasizes that the purpose of the class isn’t to just«get belts». He invites the kids to consider the merit of what they are working towards. I have been going there for a year and a half with my kids, and I give this program and it’s instructor my highest recommendation.

Sorenson Unity Center us a gorgeous building located in the Glendale neighborhood. I’d never really been over in that neck of the woods before because of things I’d heard, but a friend invited me to a fitness class and I;ve been hooked ever since. The Unity Center is a community gathering place. There are fitness classes, a gym, classes and cultural celebrations. I hear there are even medical and dental services for under-insured people. I go there for the Sunday morning Zumba. Lupe, the instructor, is phenomenal. I have never felt so warmly welcomed and not judged at all. The ladies in the class ere also quite welcoming and have been going there for a long time. And at $ 4.50 a class, it’s a steal.
