You can never go wrong with a Ruth Chris steak. It is always enjoyable and always cooked to perfection. I am giving it 4 stars because at the prices you are paying there are certain things that should never happen, the main one being my drink. I ordered a Dr Pepper and it was empty most of the night. Fix that and your stars go up. For reference, I always get the New York Strip with the crust of Blue Cheese on top. That always tastes wonderful.

This place is for poor people that want to feel fancy. The steak is mediocre at best. Ruby River has a $ 14 steak that is just as good as these overpriced steaks. The price does not match the quality at all. This is not high end steak.

If you are a steakhouse lover like anyone else who comes to Ruth Chris, then I highly recommend the steak :) I ordered the ribeye done med rare and it was a steak cooked to perfection. So wonderful! Comes on a plate at a temperature of 500°. My steak maintained the temperature during the whole meal. The sides I ordered, spinach, the French onion soup and mashed potatoes were average, nothing stood out to be outstanding. The mashed potatoes I’m pretty certain were instant and a bit of a disappointment, but the steak, wine and overall dining experience was great. Service was what one would expect, again nothing to comment on as exceptional, but was good. Dessert was delicious. I ordered the banana cream pie and had a nice crème brûlée twist. The texture of this dessert was top notch.

We haven’t been back to Ruth’s Chris in a LONGTIME because of a very bad first experience years ago. We’ve been going to Fleming’s instead. However, given that so much time has passed, I decided to give Ruth’s Chris a second chance as this year’s pick for our Valentine’s Day dinner. The first time we came here, it was 5 years ago, when Valentine’s Day fell on a Sunday as it did this year, which made for a great comparison since it fell on the same exact day of the week. This time, we came away very impressed with the difference in service compared to our first time dining here. It’s nice to come here on a Sunday because parking wasn’t too bad. However, that’s one of the things I don’t like about dining downtown. Yea, there’s valet but a valet from Millcreek Inn damaged my Audi years ago, so I don’t use valets anymore. You have to inspect your car before you leave, otherwise, you release them of all liability. But, I digress… Ruth’s Chris was packed this Sunday like Disney World on a school holiday. We were immediately and warmly greeted by the hostesses and manager at the front desk, they confirmed our reservation and a hostess led us to our table. From there, the hostess offered to take our coats for us. I wasn’t sure where our coats would be stored but later found out that they manage their own coat check closet, so your expensive coats and leather gloves are in relatively safe hands until you pick them up after dinner. This is a great service that other high end restaurants in cold climates should look into offering! On our table waited two heart shaped chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Nice touch but not as nice as the free roses and custom made chocolates that Tsunami offered their Valentine’s diners last year. The assistant server came over to introduce himself and offered us water… and bread! Yay! Finally, we got bread! Then, our main server came by, introduced himself and took our orders for the night. He was very professional, friendly and genuine. We informed him about one of us having a food allergy. He took our request very seriously and said he would notify the chef. Then, he took our drink orders and we both got the dinner combo special which includes: 1 dinner salad, 1 personal side plate, full size filet mignon and 1 dessert for $ 57. We also ordered the crabtini appetizer for $ 15. Their wine and cocktail prices are higher than average, even higher than cruise ship/tourist resort drink prices. For example, a glass of their Conundrum was $ 16 compared to $ 15 on a cruise or at Disney World. Both of our salads came out looking fresh and tasting great! She ordered the Ruth’s Chris house salad and I ordered the Caesar salad. There’s nothing fancy about these salads, like no caviar on the side of the Caesar salad, but they were still good! The crabtini is amazing! It’s like a slaw of fresh greens tossed with chunks of crab meat flavored with a tangy, creamy vinaigrette-like dressing. Our server also took the time to confirm to us that the chef was aware of our food allergy dining concerns. Our main entrees came out sizzling hot and smelled amazing with the sound of crackling butter! We both ordered medium rare temp steaks and while mine was perfect, hers looked more on the rare side. But, she didn’t complain and ended up loving it! To be fair, it was a thick filet, probably 3.5 inches. We both loved our mushroom side dish but weren’t impressed with the garlic mashed potatoes. We could hardly taste the garlic in it. We both ordered the gluten-free flour-less chocolate cake for dessert. It was dense, decadent and rich with chocolate flavor. It’s garnished with black, blue and raspberries to help balance the sweet richness of this dessert. We both would have easily upgraded to get a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side to go along with this. Our bread plate was refilled when empty and our water glasses were refilled even more often! For some strange reason, my GF became sick after eating here? It seemed really odd since nothing we had ordered contained any gluten? The bread was only for me. Ruth’s Chris seems high end enough that their cooks would be aware of and be careful for their food allergy diners. It could just be a fluke, we’ll probably come back again and see if the experience is the same. But, overall, Ruth’s Chris serves up a great fine dining experience along with great tasting food that’s made with fresh healthy ingredients! If you’re a food allergy diner, take some precautions, just in case.

O.M.G. Seriously this is the nicest restaurant in Salt Lake. The steaks are amazing! Side dishes are delicious and the ambiance is very nice. Never a disappointing experience at Ruth Chris. Worth every penny, and it takes a lot of penny’s to cover your dinner!

Good to great steak, pretty good sides, okay atmosphere, but in the end not worth the price. We got seated near the bar, and that was kind of of a let down since it made me feel like I was sitting at a $ 75 a plate sports bar. Service was great, exactly what I would expect from a place with this kind of price tag.

Ermagerd… If you want to have the best Ribeye of your life. Please come and take a visit. The flavor on the Ribeye is off the charts. The meat is so incredibly tender and the size of the steak is enough to feed a small family. Somehow I find a way to finish it each time. That’s on me. Don’t come here expecting a value meal. The prices are high and there is a reason. One thing that Ruth’s Chris does is serve their steaks on super heated plates. It keeps the steak hot and the flavor as good as the first bite. They do offer sides but they are a la carte. The wedge salad is pretty delicious and the potato is about the size of a babies head. If you want to hear angles sing. Order the ribeye and experience the true magic of beef.

My wife and I had decided to try Ruths Chris for our anniversary. We are certainly not accustomed to places like this, so it was nice to be greeted by so many people. The customer service is excellent. Our waiter even offered a new side if we didn’t like the one we had. We got the Lobster Mac and Cheese which was great. We also got the Barbecued Shrimp as an appetizer which was great. My wife got the 11 oz Filet and it was great. I was told by everyone to get the Ribeye so that is what I got. It is full of flavor but it seems as though about 6 of the 16 oz are fat, which many people love, but it wasn’t for me. All together, it was a very nice experience.

Spent over $ 250 and had horrible service at the bar… we are in the industry and truly felt like a burden to the staff. So sorry we asked for another drink to increase our check and your tip. Sorry to make it such a chore to do your job… The best experience of all was our über to and from your location… definitely changed my opinion about Ruth’s Chris… we should have gone to the place next door… food was great. service=awful!!! Only reason for a second star was the food…

Had the petite filet medium rare, could have been a tad rarer. But otherwise it was buttery soft(literally and metaphorically) and delicious! The mushrooms were fine but not very flavorful and the Caesar salad was delicious with the shaved parmesan on top. It had just the right amount of dressing. Jason, our waiter, was attentive and friendly enough, but we lost him at the end of the meal. I HATE looking at dirty dishes sitting on the table, but I was starting to get used to it by the time Jason came around. Jason also gave us our bill with our dessert which seemed like a push to get out. Sometimes I order coffee or drinks after dessert, but not with our waiter trying to move us along. The food was great as usual though the martini was the teensiest I’ve ever seen(the bartender filled the glass half way). The service could have been better, I’ve experienced better, but I’ll round up to 3 stars.

This was the best food and service I have had in I don’t even know how long. Michael was our server and he and the manager Rick were very friendly and attentive to us and did everything they could to make sure that our anniversary was perfect and memorable. Even the host was friendly and went above and beyond. We started with the calamari and then I had the filet with lobster and my husband had the ribeye with lobster we also got the spicy thai green beans and the truffle mashed potatoes. Everything was incredibleand cooked to perfection! The chocolate soufflé was a beautiful presentation and tasted even better than it looked. They even gave us a box of in-house made chocolate truffles to take home that were delicious. We will definitely be back soon and be recommending flemings to everyone we know!

This is my third time here but this time was special it was my 21st birthday. So service wise our waiter did an average job waiting the table. These type of establishment an average waiter says something because my definition of average mean they bring the food, take the order, bring the bill and maybe check in once in a while. We all felt like he didn’t want to wait us, maybe he had a bad night I don’t know but I think it’s because we look young. I don’t know what it is with restaurant and seeing a young group of girls come in, I think it’s because they assume we’re going to be a hassle and probably don’t know how to tip if any at all. Unfortunately, I’m a waitress myself which is why I notice service that is not good. He made us feel like we were a hassle to his night which kinda ruined a part of the experience for us but throughout the night we just got over the situation. It was one of those situation where we could just tell that he was not really happy waiting our table. After we left we were comparing the service experience to places like valter’s and Christopher’s. Now let’s talk about the food, The house salad which I believe had arugula in there as well was delicious but it was overly drench with vinaigrette. One friend thought the caesar was good the other was not a fan of the dressing. Seared ahi was disappointing by no fault of the restaurant, we didn’t careful read that the sauce had wasabi or some kind of mustard. The spicy lobster was good and was liked by my friends. The scallop special was great as well, didn’t care for the black sauce though. My 2 friend thought it was bland. For the main course we all had the 6 oz filet and shrimp. The shrimp on top weren’t special, they were just shrimp but the steak was amazing as always, if it wasn’t I would know why i would come here. When they brought out the sides it weren’t introduced to us what they were, I mean we ordered so much we forgot so it took us a while to discover why our asparagus had no hollandaise sauce on top. It was because it was sitting somewhere on the table no one could see. Please get the pecan sweet potato, it was amazing. That could be my dessert. I like the special side of the night which was shiitake mushroom sauté in herb. The mashed potato were well made. For dessert we had cheesecake, I’m not a fan of cheesecake at all and was about to order their crème brûlée and flourless chocolate cake but I tried the cheesecake and they were great. I would probably never get it again because I’m not a fan of cheesecake but it had the perfect size, consistency, and crumbs to cheesecake ratio. Anyway, I would come here again for steak on my own maybe with my mom. I just love steak. I really think people treat me different at establishments when I come alone because I just look young. For special occasion, we’re not sure anymore. We might prefer to go to places where we feel more comfortable for high end restaurants in Utah. There’s just a type of service we’re used to getting at other places that we couldn’t get here. Service and food are things that make certain restaurant a regular to us. We’re not uptight so when we go out to restaurant we want great food, atmosphere, and vibe. We enjoy a meal with elbow on a table if we feel like it because we’re not there to pretend to fit into a certain, we’re strictly there to enjoy food and conversation. 3.5 is not an option, so 4 it is.

Came here with friends for the dineoround thing and let me say it was fantastic. Parking by your self was a bit tough, but they do offer valet parking for $ 5. Best option ever. When walking into this place it felt like a totally different change. The ambiance was very fancy like. Going these casually I felt like a fish out of water. The waiter was super friendly, but it got a bit confusing because we had someone telling us they were our waiter and then another person telling us the same thing. They do have two waiters but one is just a water waiter. Let’s go to the food now. We all did dineoround and the choices wasn’t bad. I got the Cesar salad, 6 oz filet with shrimp, mash potatoes, and the cheesecake top with berries. The salad was delicious and it had a hint of tangy taste. The steak was really good, tender and juicy, the shrimp was cooked just right. The mash potatoes was a bit on the oily side for me. The cheese cake was delicious and not that sweet. Definitely would come here again esp with the romantic environment for a date.

Just a quick review on the location. Walking distance to most downtown locations makes it covenant to all the hotels. No wait to eat — kinda. We were the only ones in the lobby, they said tables were available when we arrived, but it still took over 10 minutes to get seated(we did not have a reservation but again, they said they had availability). Our waiter was a name dropper. Apparently he is friends with every professional athlete in America. What that does not get you is a refill on your water because he’s too busy talking. I enjoy Ruth’s steaks but they are not on my top 10 list. It’s a good meal but this location did nothing to make it memorable.

Sizzling steak in butter that melts in my mouth? Yes please, any day! Besides the absolute phenomenal food, the servers and management know what they are doing here. You truly are treated like a million bucks, and I’ve built a relationship with the management staff they are that good. They are wonderful with gluten free for us celiacs out there and take cross-contamination seriously

I took my family, and two of my son’s good friends to dinner here last Friday night. He picked the place to celebrate his graduation from the University of Utah(which occurred just a few hours prior to dining.) Frankly, I was really looking forward to Ruth’s, as my wife and I haven’t been to one in years(at this location and at Ruth’s Chris in Scottsdale, AZ.) This was my son’s first experience with a high end steak restaurant. Except that it was just«A-OK»…3 stars this visit. Some upsides: Ali and Jesus did a find job waiting on the six of us; the food was delicious. Some downsides: The wait to get our adult beverages served from the bar was waaaay too long; everything remains a la carte; the wait for the main courses to be served was also waaaay too long; I ordered one of the specials… a bone-in filet… which started off nicely, but the closer I got to the bone, the tougher it got(won’t be ordering that again…); we also ordered a seventh filet and baked potato to take to another individual who was not able to join us that evening… so with a gratuity, the bill came to exactly $ 700.00. When you pay that much, I want to be WOWED and have my socks roll up and down real fast… but I didn’t come away with that feeling. Maybe I am getting more and more discriminating in my old age, but after having a 3-star experience here on Friday, nice places like this keep losing their luster. So what can I say… good attentive service(tarnished by a SLOW bar and SLOW kitchen); good tasting steaks(my son… the graduate and Rugby player… devoured the Porterhouse for two all by himself… yes, 40 oz, $ 85), and some nice desserts. Overall, a nice celebration for four years of hard work. If you want to go and experience Ruth’s…do it, but be prepared to pay what I consider are some overly steep prices for the experience. Probably won’t be going back any time soon. I agree with Liz R… there are some better fine dining options in SLC. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — UPDATE: 5-12-2015: I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from the General Manager of Ruth’s Chris SLC on the 12th. He was very gracious and apologized for not blowing my socks off at this last experience on the 8th of May. He said he would be speaking to his bar and kitchen staff regarding my comments above, and was very receptive to my comments. I suspect that this property is in good hands with leadership like this, and maybe on my next visit I will see a marked improvement. Here’s to everyone getting their socks blown off by Ruth’s Chris! — Denhabr @ 5-13-2015.

I came here for my friends birthday and absolutely loved it! The service was impeccable and they even put a card on the table wishing my friend a happy birthday. The sweet potato casserole is out of this world, the lobster bisque was creamy and flavorful, and the banana cream tart made an incredible dessert! I got a sirloin steak and it was excellent, but I tried my friends ribeye steak and wish I would’ve gotten that. The extra fat on the meat gave it a really nice flavor. I recommend getting the blue cheese crumbles on top of your steak. If you go before 6:30PM, you can get an amazing deal with their prime time specials. I recommend you upgrade your appetizer and dessert for only three dollars each. It opens up a lot more options to you and gives you bigger portions of each.

Okay. For the price there are better fine dining options in Salt Lake. The steaks we ordered were fantastic and cooked well.(my husband ordered the ribeye and I ordered filet medallions) The side dishes and salads were just okay — not worth the heavy price and they were nothing special. The service and atmosphere were great but it doesn’t earn them any extra stars in my opinion because I feel that is generally expected when paying $ 60 or more per person for a meal.

Yeah, this place is awesome. We’re not even huge steak eaters, but with all the rave we figured we’d give it a try for our anniversary, and their filet was wicked delicious. Buttery, juicy, tender, perfect. What we really loved, as well, was the Ahi Tuna appetizer and the Berries & Cream dessert. I’d go there over and over just to have those two items. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion.

Expensive. Delicious. I ordered the ribeye and it was amazing. It was flavorful and quite large. I only ate about a quarter of it because I had ordered the French onion soup(also amazing), the mac n cheese and the potatoes au gratin. I was skeptical to go because of how expensive it is, but my brother was right this place is worth every dollar you pay. I consider throwing up to eat more, but I instead chose a food coma afterward. (I in no way condone eating disorders of any kind, except those that lead to food comas)
