Now & Again

Very rude. Very Snooty. He seems to run his «shop» as a museum rather the as a business. Very little turnover in merchandise, which would likely change if he were to introduce even a small amount of customer service into his approach.

What a fun store to get lost in. Very attentive and patient staff willing to help you fulfill whatever whim brought you in– for me it was the 6’x6’ Joan Crawford shower curtain. I left with so much more and each piece has added style to my house. I’ll return to SLC just to make a stop here!

First things first – there seems to be some confusion about their address. But I was here at the end of August 2014 and can verify that it’s indeed at 207 E Broadway (300 S.)
Oh, the pretty things. The many things. The many, many, always changing old things. This is one of my favorite antique/​vintage stores in SLC, probably because it hits on my own sensibilities a little stronger than others.
You’ll notice their emphasis in mid century modern pieces, trailing up into the later ‘60s and occasionally the ‘70s, especially in their larger pieces. That’s not to say that they don’t have newer stuff, but the real focus is on that great stuff in the heart of the ‘50s.
The overall merchandise focus is on furniture and housewares, along with home décor. You may see plenty of knick-​knacks here and there to fill in the cracks, and there is some clothing. But the real heart and soul and focus of their curation is on the furniture pieces, the kitchenware, the décor, the mugs and plates and silverware and so on and so on.
So far I’ve limited purchases to a few of these smaller items. I’m always cruising for the odd pair of cufflinks, and since they don’t have a ton of jewelry or clothing, there aren’t often many to peruse. Rest assured that when I do, however, go to buy furniture I will at least cruise the selection here to see what I might find.

Good selection. I like that they sell the kitschy vintage stuff that no one else in the area really seems to carry.
However, I called a few days ago asking about consignment. I was dead in the middle of a sentence when he interrupted me and said he was busy and had to go. It was a pretty tactless, brutal interruption.
Then a few days later I called back and before saying anything I asked if he was busy. He still seemed disinterested in my call even though he wasn’t busy. I told him I had a piece that was identical to something I saw in his store and he said, «If I already have it why would I want another one?» Really? Maybe because that piece will sell and you can sell another? His response made him seem like he was collecting stuff for himself and not looking for consigners. I am a dream consigner because I am constantly supplying vintage, mid-​century modern pieces. Poor service cost him an opportunity.
It’s a great place to buy but I will never consider consigning here again. Gave two stars because there is a cute little friendly shop dog.
But overall: Meh. I’ve experienced better.

Went here to check it out, and this store was amazing. So many mid century modern pieces for great prices. The guy who worked the counter was so nice and all the pieces they had were very reasonable for the price, and not to mention it’s in a very nice area.

I like this place. Nice guys who know a lot about furniture, a TON of vintage and unique items cleverly placed in a small space, and prices that aren’t outrageous. They even have measuring tape for the customer needing to call home and check on sizing!
I bought a pair of twin lion bookends and almost went home with a 1960’s mod couch that was only $ 250.
The only thing that was lacking for me was good art. There were several pretty tacky pieces, but nothing that was fabulous. I’ve been in a couple of times looking, and haven’t seen that perfect piece yet.
Fun store, and well worth the visit!

These guys have an eye for cool looking stuff, now if only I could afford to hire them to make it all work in my place.
Although I did not lay down the cash for an exquisite little night stand I saw to day I really wanted to. The prices are very reasonable, yes you will pay a little more if it is a great piece but honestly you would pay more than that little more for junk at Ikea. I bought a couple bookcases from them when I first moved into to town and they were far cheaper than ikea would have been and much nicer.
Side note to the owners:
Keep up the good work, and keep your eyes out for a pair of night stands. Maybe you should have a Christmas decorating thing. Where you can enter to win your decorating insights for one room of your house. I would so enter and buy the pieces straight of your store.

Holy stalk-​a-​mole, Batman!
I time-​warped to the 1960s, and I can’t stop going back for more. Despite frequenting Now & Again’s page on facebook for new items, I’ve started stopping in each week. Y’know, just in case I missed something in the pile of awesomeness.
This is by far my favorite consignment store in SLC. Michael takes pride in the items he takes into the store, and while I think some pieces are definitely a miss, there’s a lot of plus there. Even for those that are not die-​hard fans of mid-​century modern style.
For those that don’t need furniture, the home décor items can add style into your every day living. Like the awesome set of 8 atomic zombie glasses that I want SO badly, but don’t really need. Can someone PLEASE tell me I need them?

I’m a bit saddened by my experience here. I went in to sell (which I was unaware that they don’t except things on Saturdays, my bad, but when your website doesn’t say anything and on the front door there is vinyl saying «We take consignments every day.» you can’t really blame me for not knowing.) But anyways. When I went in I was met by a guy, nicely, who told me they weren’t taking small things and couldn’t on Saturday. Then I got shoved off to the owner in a cowboy hat, and he asked what I had. As I went to show him he said «I can’t help you, I’m with a customer, making some money.» Uh… wow ok. Literal don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I’m saddened because I was so excited to shop around, but with how I was treated, I’m never going back. Don’t ask what I have and then make me feel like out doesn’t matter if I existed.

Now & Again is like, the a priori vintage furniture store. It’s exactly what I picture when I hear the words «vintage store,» because it’s exactly a vintage store should be: located in the shabby-​chic corner of the city, full (but not too full) of funky mid-​century artifacts, and run by a guy who rocks a cowboy belt buckle like nobody’s business.
Last time I was here, I brought a globe lamp and a few pictures of cowboys, which netted me about $ 40 profit in the three months they were on the shelves. (A few other items didn’t sell, even on discount.) My girl Whit walked away with a giant painting of a landscape painted in neon for about $ 50. I had to resist buying half the store: from sepia postcards to Mormon Family Home Evening manuals from the ‘70s to lime-​colored lampshades, this place is a treasure trove. Definitely a crucial stop for any visitor to SLC who doesn’t believe the city of Latter-​Day Saints has soul!

This is my favorite vintage furniture store in slc. It has a bit of a funkier vibe than the more purely midcentury modern stores like The Green Ant (and a wider variety of prices).
The owners are super friendly and knowledgable about their merchandise. They’ll help you get your ridiculously large purchases into your car, and they’re always ready with a measuring tape to help you figure out if it will fit in your house. I bought my dining room table and a number of smaller things here, and I couldn’t be happier! They’re always getting new things in, so definitely come often!

Let me count the number of great items I have from Michael’s N&A. A gorgeous solid teak table for much less than I would pay for junk at a furniture store, Two butter yellow leather Italian counter stools to replace the two from Design within Reach that fell apart. A cute orange Princess phone (circa 1970) that works to match a cute orange leather work chair for my art studio. A real 1960’s Mouli Grater so much better than my newer Mouli. But best of all an early 20^th century Bissell carpet sweeper that is made out of beautiful dark wood! Again it is both beautiful and works very well — better than my modern carpet sweeper. So pretty there is no need to hide it.

Cool place full of interesting things in all price ranges. The owners really know their stuff and don’t (in my experience) take the junk that most consignment places do just to fill the place up. The staff is also a hoot to talk to — and they don’t stalk you around the store either :)
I was able to get a really great sculpture from them a few weeks ago, and I am sure I will be back for more pieces in the future.

I love Now & Again! Michael is super friendly and he consistently has something new to show me.
Prices and selection here are great. I recently purchased a lovely Danish teak dining table. It was a great deal and exactly what I was looking for. I was very appreciative that the owner (Michael) offered to deliver it to my house. He dropped off this large table on his day off and even helped me put it together. This kind of customer service scores clients for life!
This is a hot spot if you are looking for antique pieces or just something fun to add to you home décor.

Now & Again has a great selection of unique vintage items. It’s fun to look through everything but beware, it’s tight quarters with lotsa breakables so may not be great for small youngins.
Pricing is pretty far over on the steep end of the spectrum, but they can afford to jack up the price a bit because the stuff they have is stuff you won’t find elsewhere in Salt Lake.

Wow! Just stopped in here after class the other day! I wanted to buy everything! I was impressed on the selection and the prices weren’t too crazy. I love to see the furniture they set up outside. Beautiful stuff.
