Noorda’s Towing & Recovery Service

Had my car impounded over the weekend (I spaced on renewing tags. Completely my own fault. I had recently moved and forgot). I had the money to get it out right away but this was on Friday around 5 so of course they’re closed on the weekends. I get off work Monday and get all the paperwork from the DMV (Park City DMV is amazing. No waiting!) and call ahead to let them know that I was on my way to pick up the car as per instructions on business card.
The tow yard itself is basically just a trailer that someone lives in surrounded by wayward vehicles. That didn’t surprise me because most tow yards are set up as such. No big deal. When I got into the office, I waited for the gentleman ahead of me to finish his business and then sat down to talk to the nice lady behind the desk about getting my car. She starts writing down the costs and when she asks how I’d like to pay, I inform her that I’ll be paying with my debit card. She hesitates for a second, informs me that the owner is on his way back and he can handle that. She then asks us to wait outside while she helps the previous «customer» get his car out.
We wait outside for about 5 minutes until the owner comes back, follow him back into to the office, and sit down once again. THAT’S when he hands me the bill… which was basically robbery. They charged me $ 335 total which was $ 145 for an hour towing, $ 30 «admin. fee», and $ 40 a day for storage FOR FOUR DAYS.
Now, I could’ve paid Friday right away but they were «closed». But instead I was charged for 4 days storage. That means they charged a whole day Friday (after business hours) and all weekend when I wasn’t able to get my car because they were closed. That’s complete bull and absurd to charge for 4 days. When I asked the owner about it he just kinda shrugged and said that’s how they do it.
I think it’s silly that whenever someone’s car is towed and impounded by SLC police, they give their business to these people and there’s nothing anyone can really do about it. I know that I messed up but it feels like a weird monopoly where people have no say.
Oh, and to top it off… they left my driver side door cracked the whole time and my battery was dead when I finally got my car back. That place is a nightmare of laughable prices and «procedure»

In all actuality I haven’t used Noorda’s, nor met anyone from this establishment. My review is based on an encounter with one of their branded trucks, driving like a complete maniac down 13^th East last week.
As you may be able to imagine, their trucks are fairly large ones, so most people when finding themselves in the way of being hit by one, they will quickly move out of the way. I witnessed the guy driving this truck almost hit 3 cars, 3 different instances, within a 20 second span. He was driving around so aggressively, impatiently, dangerously, and narcissisticly; these are the types of drivers I am happy to let pass me by!
As if driving around a big work truck like douche wasn’t bad enough, he had the grandiosity to act as if he were inconvenienced by having to stop to avoid running over a cyclist, who of course had the right of way. He was revving his engine while stopped at a light, must be the universal call for assholeism. In addition, he threw his cigarette butt out of the window, as I probably could have guessed by everything else I saw him do.
Hopefully, this driver is not a representation of the company. Maybe this will help shed some light on the topic so it can be rectified. How great would the advertising be for this company if their employee, in a work truck, killed someone, hit a pedestrian, cyclist, or anyone?
