Inkline Ski Boot Fitting

My first afternoon on the hill after a visit to Inkline can only be described as a religious experience. With boots that fit perfectly, it was like an entirely new sport was opened up to me. I have «special» feet (long, narrow, and super low volume) and the three boot fitters I saw before Corey all immediately said I *needed* foam injected liners before even shell fitting me. They all quoted me between $ 1,500 — $ 1,990 all in. But Corey took a different approach– he focuses on fitting to what can’t be changed (in my case, low volume) then fixing what can (through punches etc). So rather than giving me a boot that fit in length and needed to be filled in with foam, we went super tight and short and punched out as needed. The result was a more perfect fit and a lot less money. You could tell he cared much more about getting me in the right boot than making a sale, and while inkline is by no means cheap it is an incredibly good investment. Cannot recommend them enough, these guys not only know what they’re doing but they’re incredibly passionate about their craft.

I visited Inkline while visiting my sister out in SLC. All I can say is, wow! If you want to work with someone who loves what they do and has a legitimate passion and knowledge for boot fitting, this is the place you want to go.
It won’t be the cheapest place but having skied for 30+yrs, you cannot place a price on the fit of your boot.
I worked with Chris per my sisters recommendation as he fitted her. I felt like I was working with a podiatrist. Chris didn’t have my size in stock in a boot he felt would be a good fit. He walked with us next door to the 2^nd hand shop which also has some great deals. We didn’t find what we were looking for. Rather than recommending I go into a boot that might not have been the right boot Chris suggested I go up the street and see if I could buy them from another shop and bring them back which I did. Talk about honesty.
Chris also spent a great deal of time with me and helped another customer while I was there that just got into town. I never saw another person smile so much having ski boots on their feet. Just another example of a perfect fit. I was not so easy. With a high arch and some other factors, I take a lot of tweaking etc…
Chris would not leave the shop until I was happy. This is a guy who takes pride in his work and will not let you leave the shop until he has it right. You can tell he places a premium on his reputation and I can see why there are photos of so many pro skiers, signed with messages thanking him and the Inkline team.
I cannot say enough about Chris and Inkline!!! Thank you so much.

Outstanding service and experts at what they do — Make the boots fit like gloves!
I flew into SLC late Sunday night. Was at the shop at 8:00 am Monday and on fresh powder by 11:00 am. Best ever custom insoles and intuition liner fitting. Along with a promise for any other tweaks needed.

Excellent boot shop. That’s all they do, and they are pros. If you have boot issues, make an appointment with these guys. I had been suffering day-​shortening foot/​ankle pain, so on the recommendation of some local friends, I stopped in on a sunday afternoon. Even without an appointment, Corey and Tyler set me up with intuition liners and orthotics on the spot, and I got out the next day for an epic powder day at canyons. Massive improvement in comfort and performance. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Boots are the most important piece of equipment, so treat them as such and go to Inkline.

Go to surefoot if you want professional boot fitting. This place is a joke. Basically just stoner millennials. Been in two different times to have my liners cooked and a footbed formed and they couldn’t ever do it right. Not to mention they are so unorganized that it took almost 2 hrs each time. I ended up cooking my boots myself in my oven and now my feet feel better than they have ever in the boots they tried to fit. I know Im not the only one whos had the same experience but I wont throw them into this review. If you want a real professional boot fitting do not go here. Go to Surefoot or do it yourself, shit. Lastly I ski harder than you.

I never review… But, after this experience it was a must. OC and the gang at Inkline are not only the best at what they do, they provide the best service season after season to your boots and your feet. They will work on your boot (day and night… literally) to make sure you not only have the best fitting boot but also the best performing. Kudos to Inkline!!! Don’t change a thing you do.

I waited to write this review after 7 days in my new boots. I have had boots by several well known custom boot fitters and Chris is the best! He took the time for multiple measurements of every part of my foot and made certain everything fit well before leaving. He kept my boots for two days after I left to continue the adjustments while not requiring me to be present. All without the service charge which I had paid for much less in the past. Chris even offered a boot which would be a good option for my foot that he didn’t sell. While I’m sure he could tell that I wouldn’t go somewhere else to buy a boot to bring back to him, I did try twice to buy a liner from him and he didn’t recommend it and he was right! Unlike some who sell an Intuition line to everybody who comes through the door. I flew in from Atlanta to get Chris to fit my new boots, it was worth the trip. Chris will fit all my and my family’s boots in the future.

Asian fat feet nightmare is gone!
I have awful shape feet, 22.5cm length, EEE wide with very high instep with multiple bone spurs and no arches. Over 40 years aggressive ski histories, I had been using stiff, huge ski boots (my previous one were 24.5cm). I tried no less than 80 ski boots and had 4 custom made boots fitters’ consultations. 3 of them said they can make my boots with 23.5cm and I got fired from 4^th one (he clearly said he couldn’t make stiff boots which fitted to my feet). The one who fired sent me to Inkline for the last hope.
Corey checked my feet and he said he could make my «stiff and comfy» boots with the size of 22.5cm. He explained to me why he could do it and how he would make it very detailed. It did all make sense but I was super skeptical from my over 40 years boots nightmare. Fischer Trinity 110 costs $ 850. It’s a lot of money to loose for too tight boots. I thought I should compromise the performance and should go with 23.5cm for at least comfortable space. But Unilocal previous comment said «be open mind and listen what’s Corey recommends». The advice is so right!!!
I cannot believe Corey made just perfectly fitted boots with 22.5cm!!! No blister from the day one!!! I had never had shoes which does not evoke blister to my feet, including tennis shoes!!! Besides, his insoles correct my funny pressure associated arch collapse so the pain from my garbage knee drastically alleviated!!! Since I can conduct my leg power so much easily to my ski, now I can be a so much better skier!
If you have small, wide, tall feet which never fit to size appropriate shoes, and/​or knee problem with pain but still not ready to retire from ski, you should talk to Corey!

I’ve been having foot issues /​pain associated with my snowboarding boots for years, but after getting custom made insoles from Cory at Inkline, I have had zero problems. He even had the foresight to make sure that the insoles fit into my running shoes so that they are interchangeable (between shoes, boots, and anything else that I use).
If you are having any issues with your feet — it doesn’t have to be exclusively related to skiing — make sure to take your time and money to Inkline, these guys are amazing!

You can look for a better, more accommodating and knowledgeable boot fitting experience, but, you won’t find it. The tag team expertise of Chris & Cory has yielded the most plush boot fit I’ve had (a checked history spanning many years, lost toenails, hundreds of hours spent punching them out and some duct tape). Be flexible with regard to your time and proceed without caution!

I made an appointment with Inkline to have my new Salomon Dialog Focus snowboard boots fitted and molded. They were a little tight and I didnt want to experience the pain of guessing. I have a brand new set up for this year – new board, bindings, and boots. The board and bindings are easy, the boots is where I want a fine tune/​mold. Everyone’s feet are different, and a lot of people’s left and foot are exactly the same, which can have a major impact on the how your boots feel and perform. Corey helped me out and jumped right into doing whatever he does and took care of what needed to be done. I had the opportunity to watch Chris and Corey work with customers and to keep it simple, these guys know their stuff… plain and simple. If you have issues with your snowboard/​ski boots or hnave a new pair and want them molded for the best fit from the get go, head to Inkline. The whole process took about an hour and I could tell immediately after the works was done, I have a good fit in my new snowboard boots. The entire staff chatted with me during the 60 minute process – cool peps. Entering year 23 for snowboarding and well worth the investment in my feet.

I have two words to describe Inkedline and it’s staff. INTEGRITY and EXPERTISE. I experienced and witness first hand what other reviews have stated. I booked an appointment weeks in advance to coincide with a business trip that I had in SLC. I ended up buying some boots prior to my appointment but stated upfront that I was prepared to return them if they had a better suggestion. Corey was awesome. He agreed with the boot model I picked but thought one size smaller would be a better fit. He also knew there was a second version of this boot that included the Intuition liner for only $ 50 more. He quickly called another shop that carried that line of boots and had one put on hold for me. His integrity saved me $ 150 as he could have sold me an intuition liner off the shelf for $ 200. The fitting process for the liners and footbeds was extensive and I am thrilled with the outcome.
During the hours that I was at the shop, I noticed the staff would stop and take the time to talk anyone who walked in the door. This included people who were buying used boots from the store a few doors down. These guys love the sport and truly want whats best for you.
If they don’t sell it but it is the right thing, they will try and find it for you and their level of expertise is top notch.
SLC is an easy flight from just about anywhere in the country. If you are looking to be fitted for boots, make the trip. You won’t regret it.

Bought some new boots last year and thought that the high price would translate into a great fit. The boots were the right size and looked good but I did not feel much connection to the snow during my turns. I read the reviews and thought it was worth a try so I booked an appointment a few weeks out during a planned trip to Salt Lake City. I am a believer and cant thank the guys enough! I skiied the day after the custom foot beds were made and fitted with amazing results. Every part of my foot felt like it was directly involved in every turn and my feet were not tired or sore at the end of the day.
Book an appointment, you won’t reget it. Worth every penny!

After a $ 1000 nightmare of a boot fitting from another shop in town I was told to checkout Inkline.
I made an appointment with Chris and he was able to assess my situation quickly. It appears not all feet are made the same so it takes a craftsman to design a solution.
I could tell after slipping my new boots on things are going to be a lot better in my life.
Keypoints to using Inkline. Listen to their advice, make an appointment and keep an open mind.

I’m quite disappointed — understatement, because I was so excited to go here; I researched several different places that offered custom ski boot fittings and was hoping that Inkline would meet my needs. I didn’t feel listened to. Moreover, the sales person was argumentative & laughed at me in front of other customers. I left with a bad impression :(

These guys are great. All the ski instructors at Alta recommended this place to me. They were spot on. They have an excellent relationship with 2^nd track next door (recycled ski gear) and you can pick up a pair of used boots and have them fit you with custom insoles etc. which is great if you’re on a budget. I have unusually wide feet and ended up buying new boots directly from inkline but the cost for a new proper fitting boot was well worth it. I worked with Ryan that day and my skiing improved exponentially just by getting a proper boot that fit right. I def. recommend these guys.

Chris is great. I’m not a hard core skier but wanted something very comfortable for my arthritic feet. I figured they would try to charge crazy amounts for high end boots and fancy liners. Not so, Chris went with what I needed. He didn’t have a boot in his store that was right for my foot so he went to the place next door and found me a new boot, discounted 50%! This was after running back and forth with about 8 different boots. I would recommend Chris to anyone putting their foot in a ski boot.

I live in SF and was referred by a Park City local to Inkline. I worked with Corey and he was great. I went down from a 25.5 to 24.5 and was concerned about the boots being too small but as Corey said «we can always make boots bigger but we can’t make them smaller.» He really knows his stuff and is passionate about skiing and wants you to have the best fit possible. He took the time to explain what he was doing as he was measuring and creating the liner. I had 3 great days of skiing in their boots which was totally different than anything I had skiied in previously.

Came here for boot fitting for hard core mountaineering. Chris is a genius and people like me coke from other states for his fitting. Came into the shop just to meet me. In addition to being brilliant chris is hard working and above all super friendly. Talked stories about his friends which include the elite skiers of SLC and gave free advice and tweaks. Treated me like an old friend. Never had a better experience in any place.

To say my feet are difficult to fit would be an understatement and ski boots have never been kind to them. However; after a couple of hours at Inkline, I look forward to wearing my boots. Chris was awesome, patient, and thorough, even though he knew I was only going to be spending the $ 50 for a foot/​fit evaluation and heat molding of stock liners.
Additionally, there were 2 or 3 moments when he could have used his extensive knowledge and experience to push an up-​sell, but did not. I’m sure most of us have encountered the cocky expert who knows everything and tries to convince you to spend more money based on his opinion. We all hate that guy. Chris is the antithesis of that guy.
As a result, I could not be happier with my Inkline experience and will recommend them any chance I get!

Chris is a wizard. Highly recommended to head in there. He’s both extremely passionate and knowledgable regarding boot fitting. It’s definitely next level.

I’d been skiing in extremely painful ski boots for 3 years and I finally decided to nip it in the bud on my recent trip to Salt Lake City. I walked in with my dad on a Friday morning. Elena and another guy whose name I can’t remember were extremely helpful in explaining the benefits of custom foot beds. Not that I needed to be convinced: the navicular bone on my right foot was in extreme pain on every turn, and I was feeling a lot of compression all over my right foot. I had had no custom work done on my boots.
About an hour later, I walked out of the store with custom foot beds. I skied a full day at Snowbird and was relieved to experience far less pain than I’d had before. The navicular bone was still a bit tender though, so I went back to Inkline at the end of the day to have them punch out that part of the boot.
When we went back to the store, the owner Chris was there, along with Eric. They were incredibly patient with my dad, as they discovered his boots were 2 – 3 sizes too big, and recommended not having any custom work done until he bought properly sized boots. My dad and I went down the street to REI and he bought a new pair of smaller Dalbellos, which we then brought back to Inkline. Chris and Eric were still there, even though the store had already closed, and they welcomed us in as if it were business hours. Chris even stayed til about 8pm, 2 hours after closing, to punch out my boot, create custom foot beds for my dad, and explain the pros and cons of the various boot sizes and brands since my dad was still debating which boot to get.
While my dad ultimately rented boots the next 2 days (but using the custom foot beds that Chris made), we were both very satisfied with Chris and team’s work. The punch-​out on my right boot resulted in zero pain on our final ski day of the trip, which is possibly the only time I have ever been able to say that. They even gave us a discount on the punch-​out because of all the work we had done there. And the prices are reasonable too — we scouted out a few other shops and none seemed to have the knowledge and flexibility for the price.
Now that ski season is about over, my dad is planning to make his first ski trip next year in Utah just so he can fully customize his boots at Inkline at the start of the season. The people at the shop are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and go out of their way to provide a good experience without pushing you to purchase. I can’t think of a reason why I would go somewhere else in Salt Lake City for custom boot work.

Best bootfitter in the U. S of A. I have an incredibly difficult foot to fit. Chris made me a custom foot bed that ended up looking like a roller coaster but is very effective. Heated up and molded an Intuition liner on a new pair of Langes. They fit like slippers. Wearing these boots is like making love to a beautiful woman on a bear skin rug in front of a fire. If you are one of the few people that can wear a boot right out of the box then consider yourself lucky. But if you are like the rest of the people in the world you will need a little fine tuning. Talk to Chris. All he does is boots. He knows what you need.

If you’re thinking about getting advice on boots from the REI up the street where the guy who works there might have started a week ago, think again. The guys working at Inkline know what they’re talking about, they work on boots all day long. Obviously ski boots are their bread and butter but they work on all kinds of footwear.
You won’t find people more focused on a particular item than at this place.
