Heart Center at St Mark’s Hospital,

Excellent, I had a heart attack and they diagnosed, and had me in surgery in about an hour. Doctors and nursing staff are first rate, if you have something wrong with your heart, go to this hospital, they are way better than the one on state street.

I had a nasty case of Atrial Fibrillation that for years, was uncontrollable by medication. In a strange quirk of fate, I took my Mom to McKay Dee Hospital ER one night and she needed a pacemaker. Dr. Michael Eifling was on call that night. He did an amazing job on my Mom and I asked him if he treated atrial fibrillation. He said he did, but that he was moving his practice to St. Marks. Fortunately, I followed him there. He did the touchy surgery shortly afterwards. That was 2 years ago. Next week I go in to have my implanted monitor removed because in the 2 years since surgery, I haven’t had a single incident. Now, in addition to his skill as a surgeon, let me tell you about who he is as a person. My insurance company wouldn’t approve a medication to keep me from clotting that Dr. Eifling wanted me to use for a couple of weeks. He drove from Salt Lake City to Ogden, after he was done at the hospital, putting him at my house at about 9:30PM, to give me enough samples to take for the time he wanted me to take them. I don’t know of any other doctor who would have been dedicated to the wellbeing of his patients to this degree. Additionally, he is a delightful person, so follow up visits weren’t a chore. I looked forward to them. The only bad thing about losing my heart monitor will be that I won’t be getting to see this doctor again.
