Feldman’s Deli

The BEST sandwich I have ever eaten is the «Sloppy Joe» at Feldman’s Deli. The service is great and the food is amazing. You pay a little more for the quality, and it is worth every penny. The sandwich was so big, I should have stopped halfway through, but it was so good I couldn’t stop until it was completely gone. The owner came to the table to see how our meal was, just wanted to make sure that every customer was completely satisfied. Great to see this personal level of interaction. If you are in SLC and want the best food the city has to offer, go to lunch at Feldman’s.

It was a religious experience! You think I’m kidding, but I’m not. I ordered the Roast Beast sandwich with the house made fries and a bowl of the Beef and Barley Soup… i may or may not have cried when I ate the 1^st spoonful, and I can neither confirm nor deny any behavior involving licking of the bowl.
I have converted to deli-​isim. The owner Michael Feldman is the Deli Lama. Do yourself a favor and go. You will be blessed.

Okay, Feldmans has been on my radar for a very long time and I finally made it in today. It was not really what I expected… I didn’t know it was the whole sit down with waiters and all, It was fine I still was able to grab a sandwich to go. Being pregnant I can’t order what I normally would so my review is based off the egg salad sandwich which was very expensive I thought 10.50 + tax… and that was the cheapest sandwich on the entire menu! I felt incredibly unsatisfied while eating the sandwich (I took 3 bites and threw the rest in the trash) I guess it all just wasnt what I expected. They put things in their egg salad that I would never want in mine it was more of a «fancy» egg salad rather than a comfort food egg salad which is what I was going for. Im sure I just ordered the wrong thing and I will give this place another chance… but FOR SURE ordering something different.
One more thing… I originally wanted a bagel because they said they make them fresh daily but when I asked what cream cheese options they had he said only plain… blah! Boring! Plain cream cheese is the quickest way to ruin a bagel in my opinion. Im just getting picky at this point so I’ll leave it at that haha.

We ordered the corned beef sandwich with fries, the potato pancakes, and the Kishka to try a bit of everything. The sandwich was good and had a lot of meat. The potato pancakes were cooked a little too long in my opinion.
I didn’t care for the Kishka, had a sour flavor sauce and was a bit like a glob of paste. Not sure if it was supposed to be like that or not.
Now I can say I tried it.

The best Reubens and blintzes in town and we have investigated these categories thoroughly. (Well, there isn’t much competition in the blintz dept. but they would do well regardless). Coleslaw was salty today and is a creamy style which is not among our favorites, but coleslaw style is an area on which people of goodwill can differ. Very generous portions. We find that splitting a sandwich with salad and sharing blintzes for desert is pleasantly filling.
Hands on proprieter often in evidence and service is organized. Straight wooden chairs don’t invite lingering, indeed we saw a woman carry in a seating cushion.
Room with good natural light but hard surfaces mean it is quite noisy when busy and it does, quite deservedly, get crowded. We are most often here of a Saturday and plan to come for an early or late lunch.

All I have to say is wow! This was the best sandwich ever. The waiter recommended the «sloppy joe» which is absolutely nothing like a sloppy joe I know. This is a triple decker sandwich consisting of pastrami, corned beef, and their version of thousand island coleslaw, and the best part is that it’s big enough for two people. It runs around $ 14 and comes with fries. The restaurant itself is kind of small but feels comfortable with modern deco, parking is crazy because this place is located in a strip mall. They do have short hours of operation, I believe they close at 3 pm but reopen at 5:30 Thursday thru Saturday … I think. This place is a must try.

Being from New York State, I fully vouch for this gem. Spoke with the owner, Mike, who let me know the food is imported and authentic. I tried the signature «sloppy joe» (triple layer sandwich with Jewish rye, Cole slaw, thousand islands, a half pound of corned beef and pastrami) w/​a side of potato salad and pickle. For desert, the NY cheesecake which comes right from queens, best eaten at room temperature. Mouth watering food orgasm all the way from beginning to end! Don’t miss out on this place, it’s definitely worth it.

The finest pastrami around. The Sloppy Joe sandwich (not the hamburger helper kind) is large enough to share especially with the fries. For something lighter, the Matzo ball soup is delicious.

They have live music and the food is great. I had a turkey sandwich and my wife had the chicken salad sandwich it was awesome and the fries WOW. I can’t say enough I had a great time. Will be BACK soon!

When I think of a deli, I think usually of the grocery store deli’s that serve those refrigerated salads that look to be an almost breeding ground for food poisoning or sandwich shops that calls themselves delis and really or not authentic. So this place was a real great surprise. One, it is more like a restaurant than a sandwich shop. 2) the pricing is more in line with a restaurant than a cheap shop and 3) some of the best sandwiches and soups you will ever have. All there meats are made in house and their bread is made to the owners specific standards (when you taste it you will see why, it is not a flimsy, fall apart bread. It is hardy, delicious and does not fall apart with all the fantastic toppings in the sandwiches.
Feldman’s offer many Jewish appetizers, we ordered the pickled vegies which were good BUT note to the viewer these are traditional Jewish brine pickles and taste different that regular vinegar pickles and they taste more like of a salty cucumber.
My husband, ordered the Sloppy Joe (Corned beef, pastrami, thousand island and coleslaw on Jewish rye) a huge sandwich which really is for a man size appetite than for a woman’s. I ordered a Reuben sandwich which was still big but manageable. Each came with a choice of side. My husband had the fries which he did not finish because the sandwich was quite filling and I had the health salad which was okay but not my favorite. The day we went, the soup of the day was Beef, Mushroom Barley Soup and man was that good. They offer different homemade soup daily each sounds excellent.
After eating all that, we ordered one of there very yummy desserts the Lemon Coconut Cake. The owner stop by our table and chatted with us for a while which I really appreciated. To us it shows that he really is involved in the restaurant and loves what he does. He let us know that the meats are made in house, the bread is make specifically by a local baker and that all the desserts are shipped in from New York (because they know how to make quality product). He and his wife (and lead chef) came from New Jersey and wanted to give Utah what they had growing up in New Jersey — A quality neighborhood deli with great food. Do not pass this place by.

Came in today for lunch and was super disappointed in the portion size. I usually order the half classic rueben, but today ordered the full. It was smaller or the same size as the half but more expensive. I was comparing my sandwich today to my previous half sandwich and the half looks bigger. Really wasn’t worthy the 15 $ I spent today.

Second time I have been here in two weeks. Can’t get enough of their Corn-​Beef. This hands down the best Ruben I have ever had the pleasure of eating.

Wow. Their sandwiches were huge and tasty. I love their sides. The potato salad was heavenly. The staff were attentive and friendly.

After being back a couple times. I have to say the service could still use improvement but they definitely have taken steps to improve customer service so I’m updating my rating because that pastrami is just so mmm gooood! I love their pickles too! Other good options ate the knishes, bagels and the tuna salad is pretty good too. This is still the only deli option worth stepping foot in in the salt lake valley.

I had the honor of talking to Mike and Janet (the owners) for a couple hours today. I ended up getting the Sloppy Joe with fries. In that same moment I felt like I was back in NJ or NY eating at any one of the well known delis. The quality of their meats is unbelievable and even their rye bread was just how I remembered it back East. He also gave me other recommendations of places I need to check out in the area. I will be a regular here after only being here for a couple days (it was that good).

Ok ordered the sloppy joe and a beer when the beer came I remembered to ask the server to have them grill the hell out of the sandwich as not much pisses me off more than having my sandwich fall apart in my hands. Seems the kid just changed the order to a normal reuben as there was no third slice of bread and best as I could tell only one meat. It decent and didn’t fall apart but not quit what I’d ordered and the kid didn’t say anything about changing up the Sammy in order to grill it.

Contacted by a couple folks from the restaurant problem resolved amicably they’re back on the go-​to list.

Unfortunately the sandwich i really wanted only comes on rye bread… so call me a wuss but i settled for a champion. The rachel reuben. Let me give you a rundown (Jim– whats a rundown).
Pastrami that is just oh so tender and peppered just right to make a nice little crackle fire in your mouth that is cooled down by the house made lightly sweet and a good amount of salty thousand island perfectly accompanied in the harmony of food by the sweet crunch of housemade cole slaw and you know what we will just throw some swiss on to make it melty on your choice of bread, i went sour dough to really get my taste buds excited.
So… do I need to say anything else? I think I just walt whitmanned that sh*t right there. Oh… afterthought (just like my adopted twin brother) the fries were delish too! This place is a nice environment the sandwich is huge and delicious.
THE VERDICT: i like a messy sandwich… cold cuts don’t get juice all over your face (meat juices… dang it…). Had i not been to delish sandwich place in vegas this might be a five star. But that pastrami is like liquid meaty money and worth every dime… oh and i think its a ½ pound of it. so… think about it.

My ears always perk up when I catch wind of a deli that is purportedly offering some delicious Jewish classics. We were in Salt Lake for a couple of days and found Feldman’s on our Unilocal application. Needless to say, Feldman’s was our first order of business after disembarking the plane.
The deli is located just outside of the downtown area in a beautiful area. The surroundings are clean and manicured, and Feldman’s shines like a beacon through it all. The dining space doesn’t look like your traditional Jewish deli; rather, it sports a more updated, contemporary theme. I was a bit suspicious at first, but as soon as I took the first couple of bites from what I ordered off the menu I knew they had something special going on.
To start, I wanted to try their version of a KNISH. I opted for their traditional recipe. It arrived with a side of spicy mustard. I really enjoyed it, although my preference would have been for it to be a bit warmer. It’s my fault because I should have specified that when ordering. The knish-​eating populace has different manners of consuming these constructions of goodness — some like them cool, some lukewarm, and some piping hot, so I think Feldman’s tries to strike the balance if you don’t say anything.
I wasn’t going to leave this deli without trying the SLOPPY JOE, Feldman’s version of a Reuben with both corned beef and pastrami. It’s a monster, served on a lovely Jewish rye that will make your taste buds sing. The thousand island. combined with the nicely balanced cole slaw was right on point. The meats are high quality and it only took one bite to realize that.
The owner was present and clearly involved in the day-​to-​day ops of the business. He made it a point to greet each table, including ours. I loved his story and hearing about the genesis of his fabulous deli.
Indeed, if I ever find myself back in Salt Lake, Feldman’s will be on the mandatory to-​do list.

Holy. Moly. My friend told me this was his favorite Salt Lake City sandwich shop and now I see why!

Customer service was top shelf. Everyone was super helpful; even the owner came out and greeted our table. We also ordered potato pancakes (w/​apple sauce and sour cream), corn beef Reuben fritters (fantastic appetizer) and ended with the carrot cake. Three people shared that dessert and it was more than enough since we were already stuffed from our sandwiches.

In the restaurant I noticed every table was bused and clean, which always feels more welcoming. During my meal, I went to use the restroom. As most people, I’m hyper-​sensitive to public restrooms. And this one was very clean! Nice décor, and the sinks were kinda fancy.

I really appreciated this Jewish style deli and what they’re trying to accomplish.
The décor was fantastic, the menu short and sweet with all the classics and the service slow.
I can’t blame them on the service because they were slammed so I let that slide A LITTLE.
I did drop them a star because the bottom slice of bread on my sandwich was completely soggy and inedible which would indicate that the sandwich was not brought to me immediately.
But the meat was on point. Bread on top was good and I left with my Reuben craving satisfied.
Their schedule is really odd so make sure you show up during one of their open slots during the day. I wish I knew the ideal time of day to visit because I need to go back for the Matzah ball soup. I had potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce and they were pretty dang good. But I need to try the soup.
