Fear Factory

I had such high hopes for this place. I decided to buy the VIP tickets at Costco for 19.99. Not a bad price. We went on October 30^th about 8:30pm. The whole attraction was lacking talent in the actors or they are just done for the season. The amount of stairs is distracting. The lack of props, animation, etc is very noticeable. The Elm street part was good other then that I was really bored and my wife who is easily scared was only slightly startled twice. I highly recommend Nightmare on 13^th or haunted circus.

Best SLC Haunt by far! But if you pay cash — BEWARE — they don’t provide cash transaction receipts. That’s super sketchy! But hey… great way to steal from the till and pocket some tax-​free revenue, eh? (I wonder if any IRS agents ever hit up Fear Factory?)

Nice that they offer the zombie bus as an option for transportation. But, the last bus to take you home leaves at 9:45 during the week, so it’s possible you could get stuck there, and have to über home. I was hoping for a little more drama and some story lines not just the constant jump out from somewhere and scare you. They have so many neat scenes and props that it would be nice if they stopped you in different spots to do a little scary scene or act for a few seconds. We also bought a group-​on that expired so we had to wait in line to purchase tickets and weren’t able to buy tickets online with our credit. Tickets online were 25 we had to pay 35 there. I guess the better option is to get discounted tickets from Costco. Also neat that you can do zip line or drop of death but that’s an extra 15 $ that we didn’t think was worth it. But, all in all was some good entertainment.

Overall I think I would prefer Nightmare on 13^th or Castle of Chaos. It was about a half hour to walk through. You could tell they were understaffed and the actors just seemed burned out except for a few.
There were a few jumpy parts and the layout was cool but it wasn’t scary enough to get me to go again, which was disappointing because we picked FF over Haunted circus because I heard FF was scary and Haunted circus wasn’t. I would say I’m just one opinion but I went with a group of 8 and they all agreed it was cool but not scary.
I do have to say I did the fear fall, and that was the best part and pretty scary!

Honestly this haunted house deserves no stars at all. Paid $ 25 dollars for general admission and stood in line for 3 hours. When we finally got in side the employees weren’t in character and just standing in their like shadows. Didn’t try to scare you at all. When we finally made a complaint to managers and then finally the owners they justices their poor employees acting as them being tired after 2500 came through the haunted house. Umm how is your employees being tired my problem. When we ask for even a partial refund they refused and said its against their rules. Save your money or go to Nightmare on 13^th. Worst haunted house ever, walking on my street alone at night is scary than this place.

I wanted to love this place. I had heard so many good reviews about how scary it was. This was not the case when I went.
First off, the line to even get a ticket was 30+ minutes, then another hour to actually enter the factory. We were told it would be an hour and a half wait for the GA line ($ 25) and 45 minutes for VIP ($ 35), plus an extra $ 3 so they could touch you. We did the VIP plus the extra $ 3 thinking we’d end up separated from each other or suffer some kind of mental break. Now, I’m not one to pay for a grab but if I wanted to be caressed like I was at my first boy/​girl dance, I would’ve gone to Area 51 and got felt up for free.
It was so crowded inside, which is crazy seeing as it’s in a freaking factory. Had they even attempted to separate groups, I wouldn’t have minded the wait. But I was so close to the sweaty fat guy in front of me, that 2 of my 5 senses could pick up that he had eaten garlic in the last 12 hours… We were all so cramped it reminded me of the night club fire in the 1980s and we were all clamoring for the emergency exit.
Seriously though, I knew when something jumped out at you a good 30 seconds before I even got there. I could literally see the actors jump out of their hiding spots and go back only to repeat the process to a very unimpressed girl, which is a shame because I frequently like to lose my sh*t in anywhere even mildly silent.
Like WTF Fear Factory?! I was more scared the first time I saw my nana without makeup than I was in a haunted factory. And no chainsaw chasers? Weak.

I have heard so much about fear factory from friends, I had to go check it out this year esp with the groupon available. I got to admit that the set up was really nice and the props and decoration was super awesome.
The scare factor of this place isn’t really that good though. I mean in the beginning it was a big scary but then it got to a point where it was just plain sad and not so scary anymore. One of the best thing that made this haunted house worth it was that I have a friend that is just jumpy and he practically jump at everything. So I was just entertained.
The groupon we bought had a choice of zip line or free fall. The zip line was alright, but the free fall was a bit scary because there was just a tiny padding there, but the rope or whatever they tie on you slow down your fall.
All in all, it is worth the $ 20 I spent on the groupon, but I don’t think I will pay full price for this. Esp not the extra amount for the zip line/​free fall

Bought the tickets online and did the vip. Got there about 730pm and wait was about 15 mins. It was about a 40 minute walk thru. There was a lot of stairs up and down. A lot of dark corners where monsters and ghouls jumped out. The sets were really good and helped set the spooky ambiance. The best part was the doctor office area where the nurse said the doctor will remove your limbs now. That was funny. Also we liked the scary clowns. We did not do the zip line… It was 15 per person… Would have done it for 10. The t-​shirts in the store were kinda goofy so didn’t get one. Overall we had a great time and will do it again.

Excellent haunted house. Great mix of different environments. Respectful staff and professionally run. Awesome experience.

Scary and fun! Go with group of friends! Make sure you wear jean and old sneakers cause you will be dirty!

2^nd best haunted house in SLC this year! I’d recommend Nightmare on 13^th over this one, but its far better than Chaos Castle or Strangling Bros.
We paid $ 25 each online, and showed up around 7:30pm. There wasn’t much of a wait at all, although they had tons of cool scenery and wandering actors to check out in line, so a wait wouldn’t have been bad.
Once we got inside, it started slow but built up in scaryness as we went along. It was still light outside a bit when we got in, so I’d recommend waiting until at least 8pm to go. The warehouse it’s in is amazing, but in a lot of the wide open areas it is tough to feel scared. Perhaps more sections or doors separating the themes or areas would help with pacing.
My favorite sections were the swamp with a super beefy Jason-​like killer, and the kid’s room with the monster under the bed towards the end. Very unexpected and fun! That little girl with the mask on the rocking horse is sticking in my mind. Scary!!!
I didn’t really like the butcher section with the women in a cage of some kind pleading for help. Seemed like a theme that’s overused, and it would have been better to see mixed genders held captive or even a psycho-​killer woman holding guys hostage. Those would be scarier and are rare to see. The old ‘save me, save me, I’m a helpless woman’ theme is overdone in most haunted houses.
All in all, solid haunted house worth your time if you’ve already been to Nightmare on 13^th.

I’m not a big haunted house fan because they really don’t scare me. With that being said, I loved Fear Factory. Easily twice as long as other haunted houses with so many different features. We did the zip line which could have only been better by being a little longer. Awesome job!

I went with some friends after homecoming and it was fun to hang out with them but, the attraction didn’t have a lot of jump scares and the actors didn’t seem very interested. The zip line is fun though! I wouldn’t spend my money here again though.

Fear Factory has, hands down, the best sets and coolest layout I have ever seen in a haunted house. From rolling graveyards to tiny industrial corridors to catwalks a hundred feet above a factory floor to a cultish, creepy temple to the inner depths of hell, the set design at Fear Factory is absolutely out of this world. Also, they were blasting Iced Earth and I respect anyone that plays obscure power metal in their establishment.
The actors, however, could use some work. Some were great, but others seemed to be half-​assing it. There were many parts that felt empty due to a lack of actors.
Oh, and the zipline is awesome and terrifying.

This place sucked. Went on Halloween night and it was their «blackout» night which probably made it worse. They give you a tiny light that really you can’t see anything with. including the props, actors, and basically everything. Wasn’t really even scary and this is coming from someone who gets scared very easily. Too many flights of stairs to walk up and down and too many people let in at the same time. Half the time we were waiting behind people and then seeing them get scared so we knew what to expect. Definitely not worth the money to go here.

You really can’t go wrong with any of the Haunted Houses offered in Utah. They are everywhere and all very good.
I have been to all of Utah’s haunted houses multiple times over the last 10 years of living here. This one was good but not my favorite. It really depends on what you are going for.
Here is my rating:
Ambiance: 5 Stars. Count on being entertained in line with the awesome music, live band, decorations, scary characters, and general ambiance outside of the warehouse. The live band really sets the tone and was fun.
Scary: 2 Stars. I get scared easily but I didn’t think this one was very scary. I did enjoy the acting of several of the characters, however, found less acting here than some of the other haunts. When I went through, several of the rooms were completely empty of characters so that was a little anticlimactic. I didn’t feel like the characters were making an effort all the time to scare us.
Location: 5 Stars. Right off the freeway. It’s supposed to be a place that is actually haunted. Whether it is or not, I really liked that they had newspaper and story clippings about the history of the haunted factory. Also, the fact that it’s in a factory makes it a more interesting experience as you walk through halls and up and down stairs and over bridges in the air.
Wait time: 2 Stars. We waited for 3 hours. I recommend upgrading your ticket so that you can get in faster. This is the longest I’ve waited in line for a haunted house.
Overall, it is a different experience than other haunts have to offer, which is fun if you’re looking for a change. My really only big problem with it, is that I didn’t think it was very scary and I didn’t feel like the characters tried to scare me as often as I expected and am used to at other places. I do think it’s worth a try but if you can only choose one to go to, this wouldn’t be the one I would choose. I will try it out again in a few seasons and see if things have gotten scarier.

Seriously impressed. We are in town randomly for a couple days and drove by, I knew I had to go because I love this kind of stuff. We paid VIP, ten dollars more than the general admission of $ 25, and we got in slightly faster than the general admission line. With the VIP you also get a shot glass at the end.
It is gigantic. I’ve been to quite a few haunted houses, and I will say this is by far the longest I’ve ever seen. It took us almost an hour to walk through the whole thing. It was awesome.
Not all the actors were scary, and the people in front of us were slow as hell and we kept catching up with them, but I’m pretty sure the guy had a bum leg so now I feel bad for bringing it up. As we were leaving the lines were huge, given it is also a weekend. I advise going earlier in the night, 7:30pm or so. They walk around with concessions for cheap which was nice and they do their best to keep the energy up in the crowd while waiting in line, which to me has to be the hardest job of all.
A couple of the guys blow horns or slam chains against metal panels and I’m pretty sure I’ve lost some hearing. I also may have peed my pants a little from fear. Still worth it.
Overall, awesome. Really really liked it. I was seriously impressed.

I just went here this past Saturday, and I can say I was blown away! It is about the longest of all the haunts in the valley, and their actors try to scare everybody. They have about every kind of spook one could think of; from traditional ghosts, witches, Dracula-​style vampires, Frankensteins, etc. to slasher monsters like Freddy and Jason. They also have several chainsaw-​wielding maniacs here. True there isn’t much of a pre-​show like at Nightmare on 13^th, but that doesn’t matter so much. A good attraction itself more than makes up for it in my opinion. I like the way this haunt pops in and out of buildings, goes underground and then up to the top of the towers, sends you across catwalks, and down a pitch-​black pipe slide. It had me on my toes from beginning to end and I’m one who doesn’t scare easily. There are two upcharge attractions here. First, there’s the ‘Last Ride’ zipline out of the tower. If people were to ask me if the zipline is worth it for fifteen extra bucks, in short I would say not really. It’s maybe only the length of a football field if that. I’d personally prefer to go up to Park City or Provo Canyon if I want ziplines. New this year, however, is the ‘Fear Fall.’ It is a four story controlled free fall out of the tower to the ground (sort of like a small bungee jump but not). Basically you jump from the tower bridge on a cable which breaks your fall after about fifteen, maybe twenty feet and lowers you to the ground. If you do an upcharge attraction, make it this one. And, don’t let the relatively short height fool you into thinking it won’t stop your heart, or look intimidating from the top. If this isn’t enough for you then I would recommend going to Vegas and doing the Sky Jump off the Stratosphere tower.
If you go to this haunted attraction (which I recommend), I suggest parking at the Gateway mall and taking the free zombie bus to the haunt. It will pick you up at the Fear Factory kiosk on the south end of the mall and take you over. The bus driver seemed very enthusiastic about her job, as did the actors and staff actually at the attraction did.
On Halloween night and November 1^st they will be doing black-​out weekend here. This means that after signing a waiver you will be sent through the haunt with all the special effects lights, strobes and everything turned off so it’s pitch-​black all the way through. A little green glow light they give to wear on your finger will be your only source of light. Good luck with that. I think I might return for that weekend.

I had to think about my review for a couple days before posting it.
It WAS a 3 star review until I realized my credit card hadn’t been activated and the employee must not have noticed that the card declined — so my husband and I experienced this haunt for free. It’s that kind of incompetence that earns you another star in my book!
We went on a Friday night at about 8:30 before the rush (we are experienced haunt goers and have both been employed as actors or artists at some point so we know our haunts!) and we only waited about 20 minutes.
They have people walking around selling concessions which is rad when you consider the line can be upwards of 3 hours — and they weren’t overpriced. I thought 75 cents for water or soda was fair.
Easy access to potty although it was gross. Wouldn’t expect anything less though. There was pre-​haunt entertainment, although cheesy, it’s still entertainment.
The ambience was nice and it was obviously well thought out. (I did Unilocal/​scream twice, touché Fear Factory) Here’s where they lost me, I do not under any circumstances want anything wet on me in a haunted house. They have those sneeze machines that blow air and water on you. Like being sneezed on.
I hate that.
And there are so many stairs! Up and down for a good hour and a half, I didn’t come to exercise. But whatever. It was a very long haunt. There wasn’t a rush to get through but that did mean a lot of blank spaces with nothing but walking.
All and all I’d say it was a decent date. We enjoyed ourselves.

Fear factory is amazing! Yes it’s true they had a rocky start and parking is a challenge but hey don’t let that be a determining factor for you to visit this attraction. They have an awesome zombie bus that you can take you meet it at the gateway and they take you back after your done! The sets, breathtaking! They have really attended to every detail through out the entire place! The actors are amazing I have gone twice already this year, and the actors REMEMBERED me!!! Not only that they remembered what they had said to me last week! I don’t care who you are that’s impressive! Lethe show from start to finish is an experience that everyone should make time for!
I have been to a ton of haunts in my life and nothing compares to this show! Salt lake hasn’t seen anything this good since Rocky Point closed !
