I was shocked and ecstatic to find a place in Utah that carries Bond No. 9 perfume. Now I won’t have to include «perfume shopping» on my list of to-do’s when I make my trips to NYC. Then I really fell in love with this store when I turned around and spotted Deborah Lippmann nail polish. Whoever merchandises this place knows their stuff. I had no idea that once you can tear your eyes away from all the goodies in the store, the back leads to Gateway Aesthetic Institue and Laser Center.
I agree with Paula Rose — before you go anywhere else to get your cosmetic needs, stop by Apothica and I think you’ll be impressed with their selection.

There’s a defining moment in every woman’s life when she looks in the mirror and suddenly sees her mother staring back at her. I had this moment when I turned 39 and couldn’t believe I had seemingly aged 20 years overnight. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my mom, but I sure don’t want to look like her (sorry mom — luckily you’re beautiful!).
I have spent the past few years, much to my husband’s chagrin, dabbling in lotions and potions and machines and doo dads. I’ve made more trips to my dermatologist’s office in the past two years than in the past 10 years combined. I order off of every beauty site imaginable and scour message boards in every 40+ woman’s inevitable quest for the fountain of youth.
Enter Apothica. As I’m strolling the Gateway, killing time because my husband spends hours in Dick’s, I find the holy grail of beauty stores and think I’m dreaming. How can Vegas not have a store like this is beyond me with all the superficial bitches that live here (but not me, of course… I’m not superficial or vain at all… just ask Papa D).
I squealed like a piggy when I discovered they carry my favorite make-​up Jane Iredale. I have to drive across town to a dermatology office or a day spa to buy Jane Iredale here in Vegas. Then I see La Roche-​Posay, Clarisonic, Peter Thomas Roth, Jan Marini and so many other impressive cosmetic and skin care lines I was getting dizzy.
I was so impressed with the brands offered here — definitely the who’s who of the country’s top skin care lines.

You may find it weird to see a guy’s review of this place — but it is by far the best place to go in down-​town salt lake for product. I never know what to get my wife, but the girls here know their stuff and I always bring home something she loves (last time it was a perfume I had never heard of). Walking into this place is more comfortable to me than the Sephoras and Ultas that I’ve been dragged into — although the «boutique» feeling may be a downside when it comes to their online customer service. In comparison to the large companies that have huge support teams, I’m a bit surprised to see people bash that they had to wait a little bit on the phone knowing that this is just a one location store-​front. I gave them 5 stars to off-​set all of the people that have never had a chance to experience it in person or are a bit impatient.

This is in regards to their online service only. I had the same problem as Pia K. I needed to cancel an order a few minutes after it was made and tried calling. I waited 15 minutes before the call just hung up. I tried again and once again after waiting 15 minutes the call just ended. I tried calling someone in the store and was directed to the same call wait that ended with nothing but getting hung up on. I tried their online chat customer service – it said I was the only one in line and it would take one minute, then suddenly it said it couldn’t complete the chat. I tried using their online cancellation form which for two days now doesn’t work. I’m going to have to use my credit card company to cancel this order. So I suggest you never use them or at least not until they fix their customer service. Sad too cause the prices were great.

Before you roll on over to a newly opened ‘chain’ store @ fashion place please check this place out! They carry NARS, Stila, Smashbox as well as B.E. They also carry cult fave purfumes, Bond No. 9 and Tokyo Milk as well as a plethora of other home fragrances, face and hair products. It’s important to keep smaller businesses like this open– remember to Buy Local First!
