Had a sty, called to see them, in a lot of pain, the receptionist on the phone in Monterey said no appts. Available there but could be seen in salinas, so drove there. No hipa law in effect, as they yell out your name to everyone, then they made me have a full eye exam before they would let me see a dr., never did get her name, but she squeezed my sty until now I have a horrible black eye, NEVER will I go back there!!! LL

Dr. Medcalf is the best! The staff is professional, friendly and very efficient. This place will do yearly eye exams, or check your eyes if you’re having any other issues, surgeries and so on.

Went in wanting to select some frames for my son who needs another pair of glasses. I will never again go into this place for glasses! Worst customer service! I was completely ignored. While I was looking at their frames, I was not asked if I needed help. I let the receptionist know what I was looking for and she mentioned it to a «manager» (not sure who this lady was since she was not wearing the scrubs the other workers were wearing). She just said «oh». She made no attempt to help me. The receptionist then told another one of the girls if she could help me. She came around and asked if I wanted to see the catalog and then this «manager» calls her name and she goes behind the receptionist desk and starts unpacking glasses from a box. She never once told me she would be back! She just left and did something else! This was completely rude so I walked out. I could not believe how rude and unprofessional these people were! Never going back again!

This place is a JOKE! They don’t know what there doing in the billing department! I had to call my insurance company to end up with a refund of $ 90.00. Do not, I repeat Do Not go there.

Not good at all. Went in to renew my contacts and the ‘eye dr.’ couldn’t even write the prescription without doing another eye exam. Frustrating to say the least.

especially if you are self pay and make a conscious decision
i was told by the billing department that i needed to put down a deposit for surgery
and that i could cancel before a certain date and the same day they cashed my check
and told me it was not refundable. i there fore had surgery with someone i was very unsure of and he messed my face up

Reviews are accurate. They are medically extremely good, but their «estimates» are hopelessly wrong. My 380.00 bill came in at 1,260.00.

Dr. Medcalf is Awesome. Really enjoy my appointment when my daughter and I see her. She gets the job done, and is a very pleasant person. I highly recommend her!

After 1 phone call, I can say I will not be visiting this clinic. Not sure what it is with the medical assistant staff in this part of the world, but as a general rule they sure are rude.

I have been a patient at Vantage Eye Center for many years. As they have grown and added more physicians the customer service has severely declined. Their technicians are generally rude, not introducing themselves or acknowledging the patient by name. My physician now seems hurried; as if on an assembly line. He takes little time to answer questions. I am choosing to go elsewhere for my upcoming surgical procedure.

Rude — so called «Technician» was rude, argumentative, and incompetent. Even went out to the hallway where she enlisted
coworkers to embellish her rude and abusive tactics, after hearing all of this I chose to leave and seek another board certified ophthalmologist. The office was not clean and the chair they tell you to sit in was completely ripped on all sides, with nasty stuffing popping up everywhere. The carpeting throughout the entire office was dirty and smelled really bad. I find it appalling that they can operate a medical office in this manner. They even violate the HIPPA laws by talking about other patients using the patients full names, in front of other patients.
Just appalling, save yourself a trip and avoid this place as if it were the plague.

Their billing department is inept and unorganized. Billing was inconsistent and no one knew if they took my insurance, needed a credit card on file, etc. Front desk staff is ok.

Front office staff and the techs doing the hard work were very nice, the doctor I saw was fairly condescending and seemed irritated when I asked questions. (There are a number of other doctors there to choose from.) I’ll take the scrip they gave me and get my glasses and contacts elsewhere, and the next time I need an eye doctor, I’ll go elsewhere.
