stay away from these tacos, worse in town. meat is cooked in saturated oil which you can easily taste. the place is dirty and no customer service. i had 4 little tacos and felt my stomach burning right away. there are other options in town, so come here as last resort only.

These were pretty good tacos when I was a kid, but now they have become cheap salty tacos. I won’t ever go back to this place. Unfortunately.

Great authentic Mexican food. Love the neighborhood feel of the restaurant. I enjoyed delicious chicken Chavindecas. Very similar to a quesadilla but made with 2 tortillas and lots of cilantro!

My brothers and I used to go to this place as kids for tacos. Hadn’t been there in over a decade. Had lunch today with my brother and were extremely dissapointed. Not what it used to be. Had to be the worst Mexican food we ever ate. Bland tasting and small portions.

For awhile now, my old co worker wanted to introduce us to authentic mexican food instead of the typical fare that we have grown accustomed to. Another mutual friend joined us and off we embarked to Salinas for real mexican food. She took us to Taqueria El Chavinda, a place I would have never thought of trying if it wasn’t for my friend We decided to let her order since she knew what was best there to try. For drinks, I ordered this soda mixed together with wine. It was quite delicious! They make there sopa in house but you won’t find your typical sopa’s here. Instead of an inflated ball with a hole cut out and stuffed, there’s is flat like a tortilla with just a slight fluff. It has a great crispy texture and wasn’t as greasy as I thought it would be. The meat filling on top was pretty tasty but was hard to discern much flavor difference, She also ordered us pork rings tostada that were marinated and pickled. They had a weird gelatinous texture to them but I actually found myself grow to like them. I did not like the idea of eating pig intestines but I figure I should try everything once! I am sure glad I did. Last but not the least, the tacos were legit Overall Thoughts Can’t really judge a book by its cover now can we?

Some of the best tasting tacos in the area, I’ve been to many mexican restaurants and this one earned its review. The chavendecas are fantastic, the meats they offer are cooked to perfection and the sauce’s are amazing. They offer a variety of meats and cheeses, and have great service. Not expensive at all, reasonably priced. Menudo can use a little flavor but i think they have it like that so you can add your own flavor i.e. cilantro, onion, parsley, chili, oregano etc etc. All in all the drive was worth it(Gilroy)

It’s true, known for their tacos but that’s about it. Menudo had no flavor and the quesadilla had no cheese. A can of store bought menudo would of satisfied me. They do like to use parsley on everything. A little too much though. You would think a place like this would have authentic flavorful Mexican food. But I was wrong.

They offer a very good flauta, its nothing that I’ve experienced before. It’s not the typical flauta that is rolled up and fried, but actually folded in half and stuffed with beans and on top has crema and some lettuce. And you can get three pieces for $ 1.10…soo good. The chavendecas are really good here to, again I haven’t seen these anywhere else, but its a taco that has carne asada and then same sauce, onion, and cilantro and then topped off again with another tortilla. I’ve had the other meats and dishes here, but they werent too spectacular. I would come here for the flautas and chavendecas. soo good
