History

Established in 1935.

Founded in 1935 by Jerry Yednak, what started out as a mattress and carpet cleaning business soon became Monterey counties premier mattress manufacturer. Lloyd McQueen joined the company in 1951 and worked for the family business until 1981, where at that time he took over ownership. The company was located on Market Street for 68 years.

John Babine, with over three decades of experience in the industry, took over ownership in 2003. He moved the operation to a new location to enable him to manufacture and also have a showroom on site. The business has changed its focus over the years, electing to sell to the general public instead of wholesaling.

I started my career in the mattress industry in 1980 while stationed at Ft Ord with Pioneer Mattress Co. in Sand City. As a part time delivery/​production person, I found enough satisfaction in the job to give it a try full time after exiting the Army.

Nearly 30 years later, after working and managing both mattress companies in Salinas and Sand City, I still have fun at what I do.

I find it even more satisfying now, to be able to work one on one with my customers to fit them with the right sleep system to insure a good night sleep.

From the sale, to the building of the mattress, to delivering and installing it, I do all the work myself.

I take pride in what I do and it shows in my product and service.
