We have 3 of the largest size screens in Monterey county. We also have a special room called the «Crying Rooms» in which are sound proof rooms for those families that want to enjoy a movie with thier children with out disturbing the other patrons. These rooms can be opened by just simply asking one of our helpful staff members.

I haven’t been to this theater in awhile, but I was very disappointed with the poor quality of the speakers it sounded super low like a walkie talkie. That wasn’t the only issue, the lights didn’t go off once the movie started. I had to get up from my seat and stop watching the movie which I paid for to get up and let the staff know that the lights didn’t go off and the speakers weren’t working right. They looked at me in a weird way, they said they would fix it and to go back to my seat. I got back to my auditorium and the lights were still on and the speakers weren’t fixed either; nothing was fixed when I got up to tell them nothing was working I had to get up and miss parts of the movie that I’m pretty sure nobody is going to reimburse me for that. They didn’t fix the light problem until half way through the movie and the speakers just were never fixed. Don’t get me wrong I used to love coming to this place, but today that really disappointed me because I mean if I payed to go watch a movie I should be able to enjoy it without having to get up and miss parts of the movie so that I can get up and tell them the problems they were having. Please fix it. Still very upset.

They have Tapatio! If you want to enjoy a movie without all the loud, annoying, hormone filled teens you find at the Northridge cinema then this is the place for you. I can’t stand people who use their phones and talk during a movie and Maya has very little of that. It’s my favorite place to see a movie because it’s clean, the staff is polite, they validate parking, and most importantly the patrons are respectful and decent. I’ve never had a bad experience here.

Don’t get me wrong the Theater is nice and very clean. Now on the other hand the Service is very poor. I believe the manager needs to have a word or two to their employees about customer service. The first impression is always the one that lasts. When purchasing tickets. The lady was very rude. In my opinion that’s very poor customer service. You have to remember your paycheck comes from the customers. If there is no customers there is no business therefore there is no paycheck. In other words it doesn’t hurt to be nice. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. I give the Cinema a 10+ for how clean it is. But I give employee customer service a –1. I know that they can do better because the employees they have had in the passed where outstanding.

«Manager: Jose (290 lbs) «if he even rates that, basically kicked my wife and I out of the theater box while we waited for a movie to start. Not the fact that we had to wait outside that pissed me off, but the way he went about it. Very unprofessional, feel sorry for his career ambitions as his attitude will not get him far. Not a good representative of a great family theater that I enjoy visiting… Truly disappointed.

There is a marketing issue that is inconvenient for the customer. I just experienced my third time of looking for movie times on line (corporate site, local site AND Fandango) and then showing up, only to learn that those times were incorrect. The newspaper and online stated a time that the theater did not have. HUGE let down Manager was not helpful at all… just said, «that’s not my fault»…

I wouldn’t gripe about this online, if it was an isolated issue. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time this has happened to me at Maya Cinemas in Salinas. I hired a babysitter, then waited 40 minutes in line to see Terminator: Genisys at 8:00pm (they’re listed showing). I was told that the movie was no longer playing at that time; that the time had been updated and I could catch the 9:15pm. I could not. My sitter couldn’t stay that late. I don’t know what they meant by updated, because their site still reads that the movie is showing at 8:00pm. If they updated their sites when they change the movie times, there would not be a problem. Then I was given a bit of a tough time about validating my parking. For a problem of their making, they were quite rude to me. Now I’m out an hour of my day, the ten bucks I paid my sitter for nothing, and my evening plans are shot. From now on I think I’ll spend a few more minutes driving to Century 14 Northridge. I’ve yet to have any issues there.

I am glad to report that in all fairness I will be visiting several movie theaters to compair the on that is in my home town. I was accused of not being fair and being judgemental and to critical. We visited Maya theater today and watched Jurassic World. Not only was the entrance fee cheaper we also spent a fraction of the cost at the concession stand. We also found the chairs a lot more comfortable and the facity nice and clean. We also found the movie screen alot larger. One thing we found is that at this theater when you buy a large popcorn or large soda you get free refills. overall our experience was a four star experience.

This is probably the best theater in Salinas. They pretty clean and the theater rooms are huge! The only thing that sucks is the parking. Overall pretty good.

This is a great movie theater. Near good restaurants and shops downtown. Parking is not far away and the theater validates for the parking garage. I definitely prefer going to this theater over Century Theaters by the mall.

Maya is a great theater. Plenty of parking nearby with validation. Plenty of showings of all your favorite movies. The few occasions that there have been annoying patrons ruining a movie for the rest of us have been dealt with by the staff. I much prefer this to the Northridge cinema

The movie was great but i purchased a hot dog and it was more like a cold dog. If you do go though and park in the garage you can validate your ticket in the theatre and parking is free.

Never even knew this theatre existed. Always went to the one by the mall.
I really liked this theatre. The seats here were way more comfy and the sound Quality was better. Also the theatres are very clean.
Only negative was I had to dig for cash in my purse because there credit card systems were down.

First visit from out of town, and I didn’t get the best first impression. Lady at the front was very much less than thrilled to see us, and gave us the wrong theater to boot. When we finally got to the correct theater, the place smelled like moisture and mold. Give it three stars due to the area, not the actual place. Too bad too, I was really looking forward to coming here. Not granting another visit.

Great theater in the heart of Oldtown Salinas. Comfortable seats and clean theaters. Onsite security.
If you’re hungry, popcorn is a must, otherwise nachos and hot dogs are good plus a bunch of candy.
Late shows are free of children and perfect for dates.

We really enjoy this theater. They offer food specials on Mondays, matinée pricing all Tuesday (except 3D movies)… AND they show older movies all the time. This is exactly what Salinas needed and especially in Old Town.

Maya has this discount ticket on Tuesday, tickets are $ 5.50 except for SONY movies… (century theater has Tuesday discounts too that include EVERY movie not just all of them except SONY, Also their tickets are $ 5.25.) anyways I wanted to go watch Lucy, and honestly I would always come to Maya & it was great… so I’m at the ticket line and my turn comes up I ask for 2 tickets to Lucy, I give her my debit card & she asks for my ID, the lady tells me I can’t purchase MORE THAN ONE TICKET since the movie is rated R & I’m under 21, she told me it was a «new policy» … who the fuck makes those rules?! You have to be 18 or over to watch a rated R movie so why can’t I buy two tickets? I was really pissed off it’s like who goes to the movies alone? Ugh so mad. I ended up buying two tickets for a different movie & snuck in to see Lucy. Also this theater turns away families w children if your trying to watch a rated R movie after 9, and again it shouldn’t be any of their damn business who you take or don’t take to watch a rated R movie.
Pretty pissed about my experience.
