I love this place. My family and frequent here all the ladles are friendly. It gets pretty busy here but the wait is worth it. I always get the chile relleno plate with flour tortillas, my favorite.

I ate dinner here two weekend in a row. I went hiking in the Big Sur area last weekend and this weekend. Dinner after hikes should be filling, quick, and cheap. This place applies to all those points. I ate shrimp last weekend and Chili Verde this weekend. Both were very big plate and so tasty. This place got a must place after a hike in the Big Sur area.

Ok I’ve ate here a few times now and the food is very good. Definitely one of the best authentic Mexican food restaurants in the county ! :-) A great place for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner & they have parking behind the restaurant !

We took a chance based on other Unilocal reviews and stopped at this little store front restaurant… omg!!! I just had the best fried fish in America!(OK, my sample size may be small) The un-battered, deep fried whole tilapia was crunchy on the outside and perfectly moist and flakey on the inside. My boyfriend had a chicken burrito and said it was full of flavour and one of the best he’d ever had… great prices and good food plus friendly service! Our next stop here will be pre-planned!

The best mexican restaurant in California period. I come from Hayward just to get great authentic food. The service is great and they treat you just like family. I will tell anyone to visit this place.

Went here the other night with a large group(11 people) and no reservation. The staff were super nice and accommodating — even bending over backwards to find a good angle to take a photo of the whole group! The chips and salsa were good; we inhaled them. The guacamole was great. Favorite dishes seemed to be the Chile Verde and Chile Colorado burrito plates, which were both swimming in delicious sauces and came with sides of beans, rice, and a small salad.

little hole-in-the-wall kind of place, seems family-owned. Amazing carnitas tacos — loved the chile Colorado. Even the beans & rice(usually an afterthought) had a lot of great flavor. Nice people too.

Great little place with decent campechana and chile verde. But the spanish rice that came with the chile verde? Amazing! Typically it seems like the sides are an afterthought at tiny joints like this, but here, their rice had such a rich and incredible depth of flavor. So dang good. Their carnitas taco was also delicious. A no brainer for a fantastic affordable meal.

I’ve been here a couple times now and the food is authentic and delicious! Inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food you get. Waitstaff is always friendly. My favorite so far are the chicken tostadas. Sooo tasty and large quantity for the price! I could only finish one and had to take the other home.

Deep in the east side. The neighborhood looks scary, but we’ve never had issues. For years been traveling to that side of town a quest for great food. If you want amazing flavorful food without gimmicks. El Zacatecano is the place to go. Decent price for the quality of food Linda the waitress is really amazing. Restroom is small. Love the salsa that comes with the chips. Try tacos dorados. Chili verde. Chicano steak. Chile rellenos. Enchiladas, in green sauce too. 10 plus stars.

First and Last time I’m going to this restaurant, I felt super rushed when I was eating, since they were about to close. Also the service wasn’t good at all! I asked for some extra sauce and they rudely said that they had already put some on my food. Also, my drunk had a bug inside. Disgusting!

Hit his spot while traveling south. Just to grab a quick order to go. Staff was really nice while we waited. The atmosphere isn’t great but no place with delicious tacos usually is :) lol 2x crispy chicken tacos — SO delicious and filling. Bigger than I expected. Really good shredded chicken. 2x carnitas and 2x carne asada soft/street tacos — boyfriend was in heaven. Good place! Happy with our stop

Tasty authentic Mexican food that is delicious. The green chili all meat burrito is excellent and would have this again. Located in an area not traveled by tourists but worth the effort to eat here. Like the cumin in the chili verde. Prices are inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food you get.

Good enough! The real deal here. Tasty authentic food. Set in east Salinas adds to the whole experience. The story here for me was the kindness of a lady and her two daughters(I’m thinking). They came in after us and sat at the table next to our table. It was busy and our waitress was getting around to us. The ladies waitress was bringing there table chips and salsa. She quietly told the waitress that we sat down first and haven’t yet been helped. So nice and a wonderful example to her girls. Last line… I’ll do it again.

I haven’t been here in a while so stopped for dinner since we were in the area… The food is just as good as i remembered! I always enjoy myself a nice big plato of the enchiladas rancheras!!! Service isn’t as good as it was before but the food makes up for it…

Hubs and I were looking for a good Mexican meal as we haven’t had Mexican cuisine in a few weeks. Thanks to other Unilocalers we found this place! Yum yum yum! We both ate to our hearts and stomach’s content and both ready for naps afterwards. We both were thoroughly satisfied. The meal started with some fantastic salsa and chips with limes. Seriously some of the best salsa… we got two little bowls of it. My husband got the 7 mares — which was a big bowl of soup with seven different types of seafood inside. Within the bowl were the biggest clams I had ever seen! The flavors were cooked to perfection within the soup broth. I got the special which consisted of a cheese enchilada, a chicken flauta, rice beans, and some beef! I think the beef was a little over-cooked but still tasted great. Both meals came with tortillas. If definitely recommend this place to any other Unilocaler looking for a good, cheap meal. The inside was clean, the waitresses were very friendly and efficient and also came back to check on how we were a few times! Nice job! Unilocal 22⁄100
