Dogwood Ranch Pet Resort L.L.C.

We have been boarding our dogs with Dogwood Ranch for well over 10 years. We just think very highly of Beckky and the care she has given our pets.

I’m not able to review their boarding because they wouldn’t accept my dogs. I brought up nonchalantly that we boarded our dogs somewhere else and they got a 24 hour stomach bug. We took them to the vet when they were sick and were told it was a normal bug and to just ride it out. This happened TWO MONTHS before the dates I was wanting to board them at Dogwood Ranch. So I guess don’t bring up if your dog has ever puked before because Dogwood Ranch will refuse service to you. *shrugs*

So thankful to have found Dogwood Ranch. My 2 labs stayed for 4 days and they had a blast being able to run and play outside. There was even a doggie pool to cool off. The kennel area where they slept was so clean and well kept. I was pleasantly surprised there were no smells at all in the kennel. Not even chemical smells from cleaning products. It was just clean, cool, and dry. I felt really good leaving them in their care and felt even better when I picked them up and saw how much fun they were having. Another thing that won me over was the Military discount. I always appreciate businesses that extend some token of thanks to the military and make it a point to give them my repeat business. I would recommend this place to my friends and will absolutely be back.

Great experience. Becky is a dog lovers dream. Our dog Lucy spent a week with Becky and had a wonderful time. It’s great to be able to take a vacation and know your dog will be well taken care of. Could not be more pleased.

Again more lies from the dungeon master. They are adding up.
1. claims i didnt pay her. When in fact I over paid her. I realized she over charged me after she hit me with her bil upon pick up. (with an apology on it claiming she is having a learning experience) as eveidence of having me and 4 other customers wait 2 – 3 hours for her and hitting us with a higher bill no less.
2. i held the gate open after she decided to hold us captive there when i told her i would take it up with my credit card company since she turned into a cold hearted freak. This woman goes from puppy talk to a scary very quickly. what would you do if someone was trying to lock u in their property after you paid them ! OVER PAID THEM !
3. claims i came to her gate early even after she told me not to. again another lie. I sat in my car down the street and watched 4 other customers show up early at her gate. guess they didn’t get the memo either. i even told her that i sat down the street and talked to one military guy who was waiting with me. i was nice enough to let him go ahead of me along with another lady. (yet another lie regarding why I let people go ahaed of me)
4. i told her i was nice enough to let the other guests go since at this point she killed our afternoon and now we are not in rush to drive in rush hour traffic. let’s turn everything i do and say into more lies.
5. she now claims she fed the dogs. funny, when she handed us the dogs she said «be sure to feed them since they haven’t eaten that day». i guess you fed them through your video camera. nice. (you and your handler were not there by your own admisson on your irate voicemail telling us not to show up before 5. the dogs were starving.
6. I had a long convo w u before dropping them off. you were on speakerphone so my partner could hear the conversation. We asked you if we would be charged for a 3^rd day if we pick up the dogs after 12 because we could pick them up in the morning if that was the case.. you said we would be charged for 2 days and there was no charge for the late pick up. we just had to call before to let you know when we were coming. We do that and we are left an irrate message that had our mouths wide open.
you also lied about the dogs being neutered the day before. not true again. they were neutered 3 days before and were fine. they just need to not run around too much. i guess you only have a problem with that after you take somoene’s money.
I think the sheriff might be interested in the fact you tried to hold people captive AFTER they OVEr PAid you!!!
Again I’m writing this so others won’t be fooled by yur puppy talk. You have a beautiful facility. It’s a shame it’s you who is running it

We used to like this place, and even recommend it, but not anymore.
Dogwood Ranch is «a rough and tumble place», and we understand that. The dogs are allowed to run and play with other dogs for large portions of the day, which we prefer rather than having our dogs confined in standard «caged» kennel.
Due to this, sometimes our dogs might suffer very minor scratches and «dings» from playing a few days with other dogs. Generally, these incidents are of little or no concern.
However, on our most recent visit our dog suffered more serious wounds, and we won’t be going back to Dogwood Ranch. The injuries our dog suffered are one reason, but moreover the way the owner handled the situation is the main reason we have decided not to take our dogs to Dogwood Ranch anymore.
We were not contacted by phone when our dog was injured, and only learned of what happened when we showed up to pick up our dog two days later. Additionally, prescription medication had been administered to our dog, which is troubling given Dogwood Ranch is not licensed to prescribe drugs. The owner, Becky, also refused to put us in contact with the owner of the dogs causing the injuries so that we could follow up to confirm rabies vaccination status, etc. We had to take our dog to the vet for treatment the following morning.
Our vet confirmed what we felt, that our dog’s wounds had warranted immediate treatment and needed stitches, which was no longer possible since two days had passed since the injuries occurred. When confronted with these concerns, there was no apology, but instead Becky became defensive and blamed our dog, then us.
Although Becky initially stated the owner of the dogs causing the injuries was quite concerned and had offered to pay our vet bill. Now she refuses to put us in contact with the owner. We are puzzled and disappointed by this reaction.
We have still not received any information about the Rabies vaccination status of the dogs, and our vet and Monterey County Animal Control is working with us to retrieve that information.
We still feel the facility is great, and there is no doubt that the owner loves the dogs who stay there. We just had a bad experience which was compounded by very poor customer service.
UPDATE: Becky did reimburse us for the vet bill, but indicated we are no longer welcome at Dogwood Ranch.

I don’t know who Mark W. is and I am sorry he had trouble with his dog’s visit at Dogwood Ranch but I have to share that surely that is a rare exception! I no longer live in the area so unfortunately can no longer take my dog there but while I lived in Salinas I wouldn’t take my Shel anywhere else! For 5 years he went there and always was excited when we arrived, eager to get out and start playing and happy when I picked him up. Once he became very ill and I so appreciated that Becky took him right to my vet to get him cared for.
To show how much I liked her place — I moved to Washington State and have opened a similar type boarding kennel here. I love the concept and people here do too.
