Extremely pleased with our new shed. Jeff made sure we got exactly the structure we wanted. It is really well designed and built. The crew, Jose and Xavier, were in and out in a day. Very professional team. Beats the competition by a mile.

We needed a very shallow shed for storing tools and garden instruments for our house on a very narrow lot. While the team there said they had never build a shed that small, we agreed on a design and a date for construction. In the week leading to the construction date, they kept me up to date (it first looked like rain, but then it cleared up). On the chosen date, they arrived to build the shed. As they say, it is constructed totally on site … thus any needed modifications to take the shed’s location can be taken into account.
After confirming the details and the location, they went to work, building, securing, painting the shed. The construction quality equals what you would see in a regular house. It is watertight (we just had a massive rain, and the inside of the shed is bone dry) and solid. The paint colors match our house, and it looks like it belongs, not like some of the cheap kits that I’ve seen.
Jeff and his staff are exceedingly courteous. friendly, and helpful. I would highly recommend California Custom Sheds.

I am not writing this because I had a great shed put in my back yard (yet), but rather because I am looking into them, and am hugely impressed by the range of products, the expertise and amiability of Jeff (owner) and others I met there, and their social and environmental consciousness.
I became aware of this company through, of all things, mountain biking; CCS contributes heavily to Monterey Off Road Cycling Association for trail building/​maintenance, as well as the annual «Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day».
These are truly personable and thoughtful folks to know with a strong community ethic and presence, not some sort of big-​store or chain mentality. Money spent is local! And yes, when I figure it all out, I am definitely going with CCS.

California Custom Sheds installed a 10×8 shed for our side-​yard. Jose and Ricardo were on time, polite, expert carpenters and roofers and two of the best and most professional craftsmen we have had at our home. They worked seamlessly together constructing the shed from scratch into a structure that word rival most new home construction. Their attention to detail, from cutting, to nailing, to finish work on the trim and shelving, to the final clean-​up of the work site are second to none. The purchase experience by Patti and Jeff, their customer service and interest in what would be the best solution for our needs made this an easy decision to patronize this shed construction business.
The structural components are all high quality lumber and roof materials. I expect this shed to last 20+ years with no issues. The shed, the quality, the price and the professional carpenters made this purchase one of the most pleasant and stress-​free home improvements we have completed.
Shop around if you would like but you will not beat all the quality, or price, from a kit or a big box home improvement center for a shed purchase. I highly recommend California Custom Sheds.

These folks are stars. The installers are courteous craftsmen that want to please. The office staff has great communication skills, keeping you informed throughout the process. California Custom Sheds, unlike similar companies, are willing to tailor your structure to your personal taste and needs. The end result is much better than the mass production shed corporation marketed at the big box building material stores.

California Custom Sheds are amazing. From beginning to end the entire process was well done and better than you can imagine. After shopping around, looking online, books, magazines and anything shed related I went with Californina Custom Shed and could not be happier. Built on site in 1 day my shed had 4 windows, Dutch doors and was even painted. The finished product was perfect. Its actually better than 5 stars, but that’s all I have to give. They will build the shed for you, or you can buy a «kit» and do it yourself. After some reflection, we decided on a kit. The Kit supplies everything you need. All parts are pre –cut and labeled. All the fasteners and even roofing materials are provided. If your lucky and Luis delivers your kit, he will help you unload everything and he will tell you to stack all the parts in the order you will need them, by section. Floor parts in one area. Wall parts in another etc. That way you don’t have to fumble through everything looking for what you need when the time comes. You can also pick everything up at the shop, which is very doable in a full size pick up truck, or smaller one, depending on what size shed you get. We went for a huge one 8×15.
All the components were first rate. The lumber was clean, straight and dry. There was no lumber full of knots making it unusable. All top quality as if each piece was hand chosen. They build the door for you, which is another plus. The tools you need are all basic. A good framing hammer, tape measure, a nail puller, and a ladder is all you really need. I worked by myself, with some help from my wife, but needed some extra muscle to do some heavy lifting at one point. I would advise to lay down a gravel bed, on which to build the shed on. The floor framing is strong and pressure treated, but elevating the structure on cement pads above gravel will keep things dry and sturdy. You don’t want this investment sinking or becoming not level after the first few rains.
The instruction booklet is well written and relatively easy to understand. I think you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to follow the instructions and make steady progress. The fact that everything is pre-​cut, pre measured is a huge advantage. They provide a number to call 7 days a week if you need some guidance. The number goes directly to the owner who was always available, courteous and always very helpful and understanding.
The pricing is slightly less if you do it yourself. But the cost for this shed was a lot less than you would expect and WAY cheaper than renting a storage locker. If you have a small part of your yard to put one of these things, I don’t know why anybody would enter into a contract with a storage facility. A shed will pay for itself in the long term vs. paying a fee each month to keep stuff you don’t use in something you will never own.
EVERYBODY there is very friendly, helpful and happy. And you can tell that they are genuine and not faking it.
I think they would knock out an installation in a day, maybe 2 tops. It took me 5 days, mostly working alone. Either way you go, you can expect a great product and a good experience.
This is the way it should be. If all service providers, especially in the contractor/​construction business were as good as these folks, life would be much easier. Heck. If the government were just half as good, we’d really be reaching our potential to be a great country.

Great price, great product! Jeff and Patti and staff were great from the get go. Such nice people. Walked us through picking out a new shed. Though there were some challenges with the schedule and our base not being the kind they are used to building on, they got it done. Jose the foreman and the guys were absolute Gems. Nice owners produce nice workers I guess :)…worth the hour drive we made to look at their sample sheds on their lot… we made it kind of a field trip :) The whole process was pretty seamless. I have been looking for a year for a reasonably priced well built shed. I spent hours online, and going to Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, and some Bay Area shed shops. The sheds were OK but I didn’t feel the quality matched the cost. I have been in construction, so I am a bit picky when it comes to having someone build anything for me.
I finally happened across CA Custom Sheds. Viewing them online, I was impressed with the materials used, their options, quality of how they built, and their guarantee.
When I called to get more info, I was sold. I had lots of questions as I was trying to squeeze every allowable inch out of what I could get without a building permit. We went back and forth on several options before settling on what I’d do. I also loved that they could do custom work, and even adjust if/​as needed on build day.
They were thorough about every little detail, counseling on what I might need, and not just trying to sell me everything possible. They are knowledgeable, friendly as can be, and really efficient. I felt an instant trust that they’d do a great job!
On installation day, they kept me informed of when they’d arrive. The installers were very pleasant and professional, and they even worked until almost dark to wrap it up.
This week I was surprised and pleased to get a thank you note signed by the staff. They sure know how to do customer service.

So here is the story: I needed a shed for my back yard.
I went to Home Depot and looked at what they have there. The only shed that was to my liking was Tuff Shed. I called the Tuff Shed company and left a massage. Nothing. Called again. Nothing. and then I figured there has got to be a much better company out there.
After a quick look on Unilocal I found California Custom Sheds. From the first phone call I knew this is gonna go very well. Patti picked up and took the time to understand exactly what I wanted. She sent me a brochure in the mail right away, and when I was ready to place an order — She was there again to reserve the date.
Installation day:
Right on schedule Jose and the crew came. Jose pointed out a few things, and after a few short decisions — It was a go. The shed was ready the same day. It is a quality shed.
It’s beautiful! Today (a few days after the job was done) I got an appreciation card from them. just to thank me for being a customer.
I can tell you this much: when the need will come — That is where I’m going for my sheds.

Had them build a shed for us recently in Ben Lomond so it was really nice to know they travel. 5 stars all the way in customer service, communication and quality of work. I was shocked that they completed our shed in under 6 hours and my husband, not easily impressed, was very happy with the quality of construction. We painted the shed and it matches our house perfectly. All the neighbors were very impressed with it. We would definitely recommend them to everyone. I just had my second California Custom Shed built — and I’m just as happy as I was with the first one (built appx 8 yrs ago).
They built to my exact specifications and even handled most of the order-​process via email and snail mail.
Price-​wise, I think they are slightly more competitive than Tuff-​Sheds.
They definitely are higher than the «totally pre-​fabbed» jobs you can pick-​up at the Big Box hardware stores. But I wanted «custom» (it will be my Art Studio). I really like the look of the shed — painted to match our house — and I loved that the whole thing was built on-​site in one day.
Crew was quick and professional. The original «build» date got rained out, but they were great about communicating with me and re-​scheduling at the first opportunity.

They came and built a shed in one day! The builders were very professional and were able to modify the planned shed to my exact specifications. In my opinion, it was on the expensive side, but well worth it, since I didn’t even have to paint the thing myself. The builders did it for me. The sturdy structure is flawless; they used good materials. If I ever need another shed or similar structure, I would definitely call on them again.
